  • I purchased a TrekPow TJ2500 2500A lithium jump starter this week. It arrived today, and I charged it up and tested it out! So far it works awesome! I apologize for calling it a "Trek Power" device through the entire video, I should have been saying "TrekPow".
I purchased the jump starter with the intent of using it to start my old 1970s 200 series Koehring Bantam C266 excavator. The excavator has a Detroit 4-71 engine, and takes a lot of current to start, especially because the three big hydraulic pumps are connected through the planetary transmission all the time. There's a clutch, but the mechanism is worn out so it just stays permanently engaged.
I have hummed and hawed about purchasing a jump starter for years, and finally bit the bullet and bought this one. I had a couple questions about it before I purchased it, so I emailed the customer support at TrekPow, and they responded immediately, so with the great initial customer support, I figured I'd give it a try!
Did I mention that it works awesome??!! The excavator has been sitting all winter, in the snow and rain, and this jump starter started it up the first try - well, the first try after I figured out that the TrekPow circuit seems to time out, possibly because I didn't have a battery in the excavator to connect it to. If the LED turns red, the power connection has to be re-connected. Once I re-connected the external relay block to the jump starter, and tried starting the engine within the first minute or so, it started right up!!!

it really helps to read the instructions before making a video, then you would know what the blinking lights mean.

Good call! I should have read the instructions and tested out the unit first before making the video. Sorry about that. Isn't the video more genuine though the way it is though?! I now know that immediately after connecting the relay module, I should have held the force start button for 3s to enable the relay for a minute since there’s no battery for it to detect.
The manual actually doesn’t seem to mention the mode it was in where for a minute or so the relay clicks on and off, and it will start the engine until the relay module times out.

@@hlukeh I ended up buying the same jump starter as you did. Started my truck on a completely dead battery. Thanks for your video!

Hi Luke, after seeing your video I bought a TJ2500, it easily started my Ford 5000 farmtractor (without any battery). Hopefully it will manage my Buick 401 and Chrysler 440 too. Hope You get promission from TrekPow!!

Ho avviato il motore 1.8TDCI Ford con temperatura di 4°C e batteria scarica: ho aspettato il riscaldamento delle candelette, poi l'avvio del motore è stato esuberante!

I started the 1.8TDCI Ford engine with a temperature of 4 ° C and a flat battery: I waited for the glow plugs to warm up, then the engine start was exuberant!
