    going on 13 years producing, with the emulation, I would actually advise to remake songs from producers you like as a learning tool on off days or when you don't have inspiration to create something. Because it's the most in depth way of learning how a certain sound was achieved and in recreating it, those techniques become a part of your skill quite easily. Especially within the edm space it really teaches you how to utilize your vst to create a certain say lead or pad rather than just using a preset. You'll also find yourself mixing differently or processing a sound differently to achieve what you're trying to create. You'll learn different patterns, rhythms and a lot of things that will be in your arsenal when you create your own stuff.
    More often than not when I've done this, I've found a lot of sounds or energies were much easier to achieve than I realized and that has only made it much easier to find my sound. Also, if you're not someone who produces everyday, it's a nice way to just practice.

      Thx so much bro I’ve just started making beats and I was thinking is finding free loops off somewhere and adding my own drums and chords to it is a good idea to start out?

      That's how most musicians do. Cover songs they know first.

    6 month old producer here. I want to share some of the things i've realized too. Making beats is making music and making music doesn't necessarily have a formula. There is no formula for how to make a good beat, there are techniques and formulas for certain styles of music but there isn't any criteria your music needs to follow for it to be good. How does that help you? well it means that if you're just going in to your DAW and doing whatever, without any ideas you cant expect a magical beat to be made for you. Expectations in a huge thing that i feel we get stuck on, we think that after a certain ammount of practice we should be able to make bangers day in day out. But it really isnt like that at all. The reality is, you win some and you lose some, same thing with music, some tracks will be more favourable and others not so much.
    Keep that in mind :)

    13 years into producing & what you say rings true! Being eclectic in taste & absorbing everything will be a foundation for synthesizing a signature sound. Persistence pays off I have a whole album, a studio & making a career out if it takes time & dedication

    I just did jazz standard remake!!! And by the time I got ready to track vocals I stripped a lot of parts out so she won’t be drowned and after her vocals was laid I added the ear candy!!!

    Definitely an advantage to know the DAW inside out and music theory.
    I won’t start serious beat making until I complete that task. That way if my beats suck, it’s all me 😢 lol
    Another key point I believe is..if you don’t schedule that shit in or have a solid music study plan. It’ll slow the learning process.
    I’ve still a long way to go, and have far from producing serious beats.
    Good luck yallz!

    hi ocean, a make beats for a long time and I release them on platforms instead of selling them, I think having someone to at least listen to it makes me happy that someone might like it, but I don't know if I'm okay with my beats, or if they're not at the "necessary level" To be something good to hear, I spend hours watching you and others making beats to improve my ideas, I thank you so much for your content here on TH-cam. stay safe

      @jhonni-oni 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One observation, I realize that a lot of mainstream music doesn't have the same vibe as a lot of producers here on TH-cam, it saddens me to know that people don't have a sense of art, you know? just because "the 808 is distorted " or " why are there no lyrics in the song?", the old songs were basically orchestra, and even today it conveys a lot of feeling, I want that vibe for my music

    Love your channel Ocean!
    I've been a classical musician since I was young, and studied classical music performance in college, but a few years ago I burnt out of the orchestra lifestyle, and in 2023 I discovered how passionate I am about music production.
    I love fusing elements from different genres together, like cinematic music and hiphop/trap music together, but really a hybrid of any multiple genres together. I wish TH-cam didn't have their loudness normalization threshold set to -14 LUFS. Wish it was louder around -8 LUFS like SoundCloud.

    You have to sell out to get to the top. There were a lot more better producers than timbo so why was he at the top? Just like tekashi 69 said the industry is rigged. He openly said there are rappers way better than him. But they will never have the money or position 69 got because the industry is rigged bro. You have to sell out to get there no matter how good you are...
