I’ve been in this type of situation before. You tend to present your worst beats when the time comes to present something to the pros in the industries. And also one thing, we producers, the beat we like is usually the worst of all the beats we do. I don’t know why it’s always like that. So he lost a lot of time because of that, had to regain his health and sobriety, and then music changed to cutesy, teen tik tok trap music that all sounds like it was made by the same guy or A.I. bot. Tim is right, a lot of TH-cam producers make beats no one would rap on because they sound too cinematic and overproduced. You have to leave room for the artist on beats
Respect to you and your grinding bro! Im always super honest even doe it might hurt its better to be honest. The problem with these beats you showed are that they are not unique, you are doing what has been done for 10 years or more. I think i almost recocginze all the drum sounds, and just starting there, record / pitch / combine your own drum sounds, or dig and find your own samples, otherwise you sound like 97% of all the beatmakers out there. There is to much of everything everywhere on the word wide web and to make good stuff one have to be unique, simply just being 100% yourself. Fins inspiration somewhere else than the music your going to make, travel, I dont know, hehe your own roots dig there. THere are milions of ways to explore and find a unique own sound. Avoid the comercial sample stations!!! God bless u bro, love your grind! big RESPECT
It's all a matter of opinion. Timbaland can say "oh you need to keep it simple" but then go listen to his beat from "Ayo Technology" 50 Cent Feat. Justin Timberlake. It's like, he's critiquing because he's supposed to. Because if someone like Metro Boomin played him these exact beats he would be nodding his head like crazy saying how fire they are. Of course, it's Timbaland and his opinion is very valued in the field. But like I said he has to critique because Ocean is up and coming and he's a legend, I get it. But like I said if an established mainstream famous producer played these same beats he'd be singing their praises. So it's hard for me to really value his opinion too much.
This is cat. He has plenty of other videos where he is going crazy to various These beats just weren’t good. The AO technology beat is fire. You can pull up the instrumental here on YT. It starts off, kind of whatever, with that cinematic pad or whatever. Obviously, the vocals sounds better because Five is doing an intro But when the pitched snares come in, it’s a wrap. And when the main beat drops, all I was doing was stank face😂 Not to mention, you arw comparing a beat that is at least 16 years old lol.
I know Tim doesn't like anything that isn't his, unless it's a rare day, but I do agree with some of the stuff he said. The last beat was definitely the best of the batch. I liked the cinematic drill beat too. If I'm being honest, though, there's a lot of beats that sound extremely similar. The beat game is over saturated with cool beats, but they don't have an original sound. Back when Tim was making hits, he had a sound. A lot of it probably has to do with everyone using the same drums, and plugins, in current times. If people started to mess with sound design, and made sounds that never existed before, it would take the staleness out of hip hop.
3:47 i don’t think it‘s too „cinematic“ or not even „outdated“ as Timbaland says. @ocean just check out the German rapper LUCIANO with his newest album „MAJESTIC“. this is definitely a beat that he‘d rocked and also nearly all beats from this album are like yours. I love it bro!

That’s the only thing that bothers me about his critique here. Throwing shade at DAW is crazy. Daw’s are just a foundation for a creator to build what they hear.
@@billybarrett272 Exactly. Create heat, regardless of DAW. I see this in the DJ world, where DJs are always bickering over the superior DJ application, be it Serato, Rekordbox, Virtual DJ, Traktor, Algoriddim. As a person who uses Ableton, Logic, and Protools. Ableton feels more conducive to what Timbaland is saying. His creativeness and experimentation flows well in a DAW like Ableton. Many Ableton users are the epitome of “let’s try this.” “I wonder what this will do.” Until they find something they like. Where I musicians have an easier time in Logic.

Ofc you might have a really good beat once in a while but showcasing them here wouldn't really help to improve Ocean if he wants to actually increase sales and stuff
Thats a good point

I’ve been in this type of situation before. You tend to present your worst beats when the time comes to present something to the pros in the industries. And also one thing, we producers, the beat we like is usually the worst of all the beats we do. I don’t know why it’s always like that. The beat I don’t love among my beats and music in general is what people around me tend to move their body to. I totally understand what ocean was facing at this point

@@DrGuy118nah, he had the Timberlake album around the same time, and Shock Value had a lot of fire beats-I think I preferred that one over the the Timberlake and Furtado albums, just for the variety if nothing else.

God bless u bro, love your grind! big RESPECT
Goat for getting the Timbaland collab
Biggest takeaway is that you´re there but "not there", which in itself, just means one beat away. Last beat was complete fire.
He has plenty of other videos where he is going crazy to various
These beats just weren’t good. The AO technology beat is fire.
You can pull up the instrumental here on YT. It starts off, kind of whatever, with that cinematic pad or whatever. Obviously, the vocals sounds better because Five is doing an intro
But when the pitched snares come in, it’s a wrap. And when the main beat drops, all I was doing was stank face😂
Not to mention, you arw comparing a beat that is at least 16 years old lol.
Nah he would absolutely tell Metro if he felt like something isn't good and he often tells bedroom producers he fucks with they shit on his streams.
Nahh that last beat was fire no cap, keep this shi up dawgie
Nah the drill beat was on point - it’s all about who you work with for one like that
“First off take the tag out”last beat was placement worthy keep cooking
