JUSTIN BAILEY ------ ------ is a coincidental password. It's completely random and just happens to satisfy the game's checksum by accident. There are lots of names you could put there. Put _any_ name there, and you can fix the last 2 symbols to make it work. The only intentional built-in password I'm aware of is NARPAS SWORD. It gives you all items, makes you invincible, and gives you infinite missiles. Your Ice Beam projectiles look like those of the Wave Beam.
Yeah, you used the suitless-only password. I use that when I play. I just like to state some trivia from time to time. Did you try the NARPAS SWORD password? The guy who converted the game for North America was named *_Tohru Narihiro_*. The Japanese version had 3 save files like Super Metroid does, or like the original Zelda from the same year as this one. Narihiro made his own god-mode password "NAR password" just for shits and giggles. Some people think NAR means North American Release.
I tried the NARPAS SWORD pass, but I must be missing something because it didn't work for me. And also I enjoy the related trivia I had no idea about, so thank you. :)

@@Mikudayo The 3DS "version" is not really a _port_ of the game. That would be another version created for the other hardware. It's an _emulator_ directly running the NES game. So every oddity in the game, every glitch, every programming nuance or side effect, is present on the 3DS. Besides, it's not something they would change necessarily if they were porting it. Suitless Samus is an intentional feature of the original Metroid, and should remain in any port. You earn it by getting either of the 2 best endings out of the 5, by completing the game fast enough. Samus is revealed in the _leotard_ (or bikini) at the end, then you can play as Suitless Samus, in the leotard, without using the password.
Pretty incredible how complex this game was for its time. I had it as a kid and could never figure out how to get anywhere in it. It was one of those games like Simon's Quest - if you didn't have some sort of strategy guide, you weren't going to get anywhere. It's interesting to see just how impossible all this seems without the Screw Attack. Plus, just finding the Screw Attack must have been hard for those first timers. Oh, how far we have came since then.
I sucked so bad at this game. I never had it on the original nes because I wasn’t even born when it came out. By the time I was able to get a second hand nes I couldn’t find this game and didn’t know about eBay back then. My first time getting the game was on the gba when they rereleased a bunch of nes games for that system. I thought it was so difficult. I could t figure anything out. Just ended up giving up until years later and I used a guide. I didn’t fullly understand the game either. Like what missiles were used for or power ups.
This comment is kinda old, but I'll answer in case anyone else has the same question. There are five endings you can get in the original Metroid. Which one you get depends on how fast you beat the game. If you get one of the two best endings by beating the game in under 3 hours, you'll get to play as suit-less Samus after the credits. Whenever you die, the password you receive will be for suit-less Samus. But if you just want to play as suit-less Samus without beating the game fast, you can use the password they used. That's a very long winded explanation sorry lol.
@@bonniebear5835 thanks for the info. I wasn't entirely sure either. I did think I once heard someone say you could get zero suit Samus by beating the game in a certain time. Didn’t know how long. It usually takes me four hours to beat the game but I’m sure that’s because I always go around collecting everything. I bet I could do it if I didn’t go around getting every item and missile packs.
always liked samus with brown/reddish hair than blond
She turns blonde when she uses her missiles :)
Note to ladies; dye your hair to blond and you can shoot missiles out of your arm
No it’s the other way around

Right on, I had no idea about that. I only used the name to get views, as this vid has nothing to do with that password lol

Okami Gaming Just those 11 letters and nothing else, right? All caps, and leave the rest blank. And you're welcome. :)
Got it, and that's pretty fucking rad lol The Ice Beam looking like the Wave Beam is pretty legit :)
This game still gets me chills till this day. First played as a kid

I tried this password on the virtual console version on the 3ds and it worked!!!
Oh yeah, it's the same game.
@@theonewiththeeyeoftruth884 I thought they would’ve patched it out when porting it to the 3ds

If only TH-cam still had annotations. Then I could have seen your commentary.

There is a cancelled Metroid game that would have a character named Justin Bailey.

Getting the Varia Suit also changes hair color and other colors.
Why is Samus' hair always changing?
Activating the missles makes the hair switch colors
