I don't know who you are, my friend, but you are a unique instructor. I've only just discovered your videos maybe a week ago. You have improved my swing a great deal.
You wanna know what else is crazy? I don't even play golf. I'm play disc golf. The movement are pretty much identical. I throw discs left handed, so all the golf instruction matches up with that, only I'm left hand dominant so it may be a touch more natural for me.
I had always been the just keep spinning guy and twisting my shoulder behind me. You said one thing that changed much for me. Your said the left shoulder needed to wait for the hand to catch up.
As soon as I tried this, boom, just enough rotation, arm comes through faster than the chest and extend away from me, the disc snaps out and that pulls my rear shoulder through nicely.
I really really think analogies and examples from other movements, acts or whatever is the way to go. Catching raindrops, Spider-Man, all movements that require almost no thought, but coordinate smooth movement without breaking it into steps.
I don't know if you'll make it this far, but I would like to ask a question.
If instead of having your arms hang down, you had the left arm bent at a 90 degree angle to your chest, so that the forearm is really just moving in and out of the chest as you rotate; how would the release work with the left arm?
I can hold something and swing it on a more vertical plane like golf and my arm naturally pivots and it's easy to power up.
As soon as I bring my forearm into that 90 degree bend in front of my chest, or confuses me brain and I have no idea how to get that natural flip over of the arm that I'm supposed to.

your are my favorite golf instructor on YT...please keep your videos coming. I love your style of teaching. Do you have a website and teach online lessons? I would be very interested. I live in Calif so Florida is too far for lessons.

Never saw anyone explain the golf swing in such a straightforward and common sense way. If any golfer really interested in improving followed his advice on "not spinning out", "catching raindrops" or "the Spider Man" move, they would eliminate their slices and their golf swings would look a whole lot smoother.

You can also release like most of the pros who after impact the left wrist goes from bowed/flat at impact to bent/extended post impact with no roll….

Everyone is doing the wrist flex side bend no release these days and it’s sad. Sure some guys are great at it. But to see all these weird manufactured swings on people who can’t even hit a nice soft pitch/lob shot is sad.

Same sentiment. I also think this method is more sustainable, i.e, will not give me herniated discs or strained ligaments. I'm not against the modern swing as I see the merits of it, too. I guess the happy swing place is somewhere in the middle, and what works best for the individual player, of course.

Maybe it's just me but, watching his hands (wrist) all I'm seeing is him flipping. 😬
