So so good. April's infectious energy just uplifts the talk. Also great content - found the 'IBM playbook' v useful....also where she says she wrote half a book so it could be finished in a flight. Very useful for any aspiring non-fiction author who wants to write 'useful books'.
I think the book should’ve been called. “April is obviously awesome.” I loved this podcast so much! I truly appreciate the straight talk and how down to earth you are April. I’m old enough to remember a time when I did just walk into a bookstore and see what caught my eye, but those days are long passed thank goodness. It sounds like the publishing industry hasn’t gotten the memo. Back in November it hit me that I need to think of my book more like a product … it was just a glimmer of a thought so thank you for filling in all the blanks for me!
April is a star. We did a bunch of these author interviews, but this one with April is still probably my favorite. (Though they're all great, of course!) :P
@@robfitzpatrick I’m enjoying them! And I have to tell you, your book was literally the answer to a prayer. I had been struggling with what I was trying to create and going back-and-forth between online course and app and book and I was just going in circles. Then it was like book proposal or self publish? All of this swirl was because I was thinking of it the wrong way. Then one day it hit me that I just need to write a book but think of it like a product. Which was great clarity, except that I wasn’t sure about how to do that. So a month later I said - God point me in the right direction - and days later I came across Write Useful Books! I think I searched something in TH-cam and found a review of it and it was so refreshing because most of the “write a book” content is for writing novels or idea books (a great distinction you made for me). As soon as I started reading your book, everything locked in and I’m pretty far down the path already… Thank you so much!

Watching this 2 years later but having a blast! Big thank you for this, Rob and community! :)

It would be amazing to hear more from April about the launching strategies.
I totally agree and will let her know that you said so :)
@@robfitzpatrick when she started talking about launch strategy, I immediately took notes and googled if she had talked about it elsewhere
"Wow, positioning's a thing ... shit" - I love this interview.
"I'm giving them my marketing plan ... which is excellent by the way" - I REALLY love this interview
Excellent, excellent interview! Thank you all
Thanks Will, glad you enjoyed (and hope you found it useful) :P
Lol. Love intro bit. 🤣
Hah, thanks. This whole session was so much fun. April knows her stuff!
