Thanks for the review. I have 60k miles on my Cooper AT3 XLTs and still have about 20k to 30k miles of life left in them. I rotate them every 5k to 10k miles though. I can't see myself buying another tire for street and offroading because these are so durable and haven't left me stuck or stranded. Not one single puncture in 60k miles and I've pulled out screws and nails from the rubber treads. (I visit construction sites a few times a week).
@HaddyO Nothing stands out in my memory. We had 1 week of snow, about 6 inches at most. I drove to town a few times with no issues. Tires had 60k on them. The tires are much more expensive than they used to be, probably $80 more per tire now.
Edge wear can also be a bad bearing. (Duh) I could not figure out what was causing my Subaru rear tire to wear through to the wires on the shoulders while the center still had 50% tread. Alignment and suspension was good. Finally heard the bearing popping and took it apart to find it completely trashed. Lol. Just hadn't occured to me.
Thanks just about to buy Cooper AT3 LT for my 2004 F350 dually 6.0 Diesel. Your comments on weight and tire sold me on them. Getting installed tomorrow!
Thank you for posting your review. This is the exact video I’ve been in search of. After countless videos on these tire reviews I came across yours. I have a 95 F350 Crew Cab Long Bed with the 7.3l Turbo Diesel with BFGoodrich KO2s. My KO2s are great but I want something different and was exploring these Coopers. I’m pretty set on getting these as my next set. I like your content and I look forward to your General tire follow up review therefore I’m subscribing.
The X3 reminds me of the Goodyear XTR from back in the day that I ran on everything. I miss the Goodyear version and I swear by the old XTR’s. Being able to hear your tires at higher speeds is very important. You will hear any issues on highway if you pay attention.
My friend, you look a little Baked. If so, then atta boy. If not, there's still time to be. Good honest and simple to follow review. And the tires tires look good and Beefy.
Coopers have been good to me 😎👍 driven literally across the US on the, plus hundreds of miles of off road, no problems 💯 My buddy on the other hand can't drive to the grocery store on them without getting a flat 😆
Wheels look amazing on the truck! On our 2005 F350 Dually we first swapped out the Michelin tires on the front to Cooper Discoverer HT3 for road use. Now with the truck camper build we just replaced the Michelins and went with the General Grabber A/Tx on rear end. They also had great reviews for on road, off road and mud. We've been very pleased on road and off. Once our camper build is completed and we've exhausted all our funds, we will replace the fronts with Generals. Our Coopers tires also have a lot of tire wear on the out sides. The shop that put on our rear Generals said that was most likely caused by rear weight loads such as trailer/equipment hauling. While going into turns weight load is pushing into the side walls especially since we have downward pressure on the back end. Makes sense to me. After all the Michelins looked the same when we pulled those off for replacement. Mark & Teresa
Yup, it's important to make sure the airbags are inflated the same on both sides, I had a leak in one airbag and didn't top if off every time I drove, so I'm sure that caused the tire wear.
love the sound of the 7.3 going across the creek , super review Timmy I had Cooper Mud and Snow winter rated with the little snowflake on the side wall they stuck like glue on our crappy Canadian Hwys and city streets . I ended up selling the truck and the tires were still great in the winter.
Thanks for your detailed review of two of the three I shortlisted, literally. So I went with the … Firestone Destination XT and I am very impressed with them on my Chevy 2500HD. Compared to going away from a Michelin Defender LTX A/S, the Firestone is quieter than expected and don’t notice a fuel penalty and the grip has been great on gravel roads in the Rcky Mtn foothills of Alberta. I’m sure I would have been as happy with the two you reviewed as well.
@@timothysommers4863 Well, I’m from that time too Timothy. I don’t think any company that manufactures something which literally has the entire vehicle riding on it, intentionally makes it to fail as that particular series of tire did (I.e for the Ford Explorer). I think one can agree that Bridgestone (mother Corp.) makes some premium lines of tires. And some technology comes from independent design teams from the Firestone side. PS, these are my first set of Firestones, and so far, they’ve been great. Millions of other Firestones are riding on many vehicles as I write this (no reports of issues, do you know any recent ones?).
I've owned both cooper at3's and general grabber ATX. The coopers I feel did slightly better in rain, however they wore a little quicker then I would have liked (35k miles). As far as road noise I would say they are equal. Snow traction seems pretty equal. Off-road I would give a slight advantage to the grabbers for the more agressive pattern and sidewall. I wouldn't regret buying either tires again. If you drive to work during the week and off-road on the weekends then the grabber is probably a better tire. If you mainly daily drive and want to be ready for any inclement weather, then the at3 might be a good choice. One reason I went to general was because they are an American tire and they give back to the community, they are very active on the tournament fishing scene.
@@omardevonlittle3817 I'm not taking anything away from Cooper tires. General tire makes over 3 million tires in America and regardless of where the money comes from. They still give more of that money back to the American economy than most other tire companies I have seen.
Only issue I had with Cooper's was when they were new I really battled to get them to stay balanced at higher speeds. I would balance them and with in 500 miles steering vibration at 75/80 mph. I had them balanced a good 5 or 6 times in 1st 5000 miles. Then pumped them to max pressure eventhough the weights did not require it and issue was fixed.
Had the same issue with mine, and took it to my buddy who is a tire tech. Have the shop you’re taking it to lower the road force as much as possible. Most shops ignore this, made a world’s difference.
Put over 70k miles on my toyo at3 with 6/32 tread left. Come with 13.5/32. Took them off for a fresh set for the winter and how many times I’ve had to plug a couple of them. Put the new Mickey Thompson Baja boss at on the Denali. Impressed with everything except I just learned the siping gets a lot smaller as they wear. If these do worse performance as they wear especially at half or below or don’t last 60k miles then I’ll more then likely try these next or the new nitto recon grappler. My Denali is also heavy. I have about 1000 pounds of stereo equipment from stereo competitions. It will increase when I upgrade again and I tow. I live in va.
Timmy I have several different 4x4 Chevy trucks with one being a 2007 classic body style Duramax!! With it being the lightest out of the three named brand trucks out there mine ways around 7500lbs and I have a posi rear end also!! My fist set of tires was a set of cooper STT MT tires!! Now I went with these because of the old tread pattern and how well they would last on pavement and gravel!! Needless to say the set of STT I wasn’t able to get 10,000 miles out of them!! I was definitely not impressed with them and would definitely not get another set after going through a set in under 10,000 miles!! The next set I went with was a set of pro comp MT2 with the only mud tire to have a 40,000 mile road warranty on!! My first set cost the same amount as the cooper STT MT tires did and I was able get get over 50,000 miles out of my first set!! Now during the winter I also push snow with my duramax and I have never once been stuck with either set I have run on my truck!! Super happy with them and I would definitely get another set but I was wanting to find a little bit cheaper tire and desided to go with a thunder MT tire that cost around 150.00to 160.00 each!! And for a 265 or a 285 size tire!! I run a 265x75x16” tire for pushing snow and the weight of my boss V plow I run!! The pro comp MT2 run 250.00 each!! So my first two sets of thunders MT tire I have run I have gotten over 42,000 miles out of and they also do very well all around weather also and for pushing snow!!! Super happy with both tires and I definitely would buy either one again in a hart beat for sure!! I have worked at a tire shop for several years back in the day also so I have lots of experience with lots of different brands of tires also!! BFG messed up when they changed their MT tire to the new tread pattern that they have today!!! There old tread pattern tire was like coopers old mud terrain tire was!! Both worked excellent on gravel, pavement, snow, ice, rainy roads, and what ever else you threw at them they would definitely last for sure!! I actually just put my last set of BFG’s first mud pattern design tire on my 1981 Chevy K30 witch are a set of 35”x12.50”x16” and I absolutely love them but you can’t get them anymore!!!🙁☹️ BFG messed up big time for sure!! Now if BFG would come out with that original tread pattern again I would definitely not think twice about getting several sets because they was definitely a really good set of mud tires for sure!!! Been running M/T tires for most of my life and find them lot more expensive to own. If you drive a lot of highway and street miles your paying a lot for looks running M/T . Far as noise the M/T tires are usually pretty quiet when new the get louder as they wear. I've found that tire pressure makes big difference in off road performance and wear. Summer time usually run the max [80] and hunting season and winter will go down to 40 [ if no load]. I'm thinking of trying R/T tire for more wear, most R/Ts have around 50k mileage warranty where most M/Ts have 0. To review a new tire is a waste of time , like wait until they are wore out and then tell me what you think of them.
Timmy, nice review. If memory serves me right, over inflation would cause the middle to wear, under inflation the outside? Yours could have just been weight, something out of alignment, ? It is better go with door stickers recommended tire inflation pressures. The heat from friction and weather will cause the psi in each tire increase also. If it's really hot out up to 10-15 psi even.
Looks like you have a spare set of wheels/tires now, you should swap out your trailer axle/hub to match your truck tires, so all your spare tires match.. I did this with my jeep and trailer, its great.
Great review, How elastic and flexible is the cooper? Do u need to deflate the air by much to start to spread or it would start spreading even when 25 psi?

Only a couple times, they did pretty well just put 37 Toyo at3's on the Grabbers still had a lot of life left in them and I put about 30,000 miles on them
lol figures...coopers are more affordable right now compared to my Maxxis A/T that have zero snow ice rating. Of the two I am trying pic between Motor master Trail Eliminators, designed by Cooper for Canadian Tire, or the At3 cooper discoverer 4s? Also, it was easier to push down the cooper tire 4s when I had both of the tires stand up beside each other in the show room. Would that stiffer tire be a little better? same Plys identical, and if you could check out the tread patterns on both I would really appreciate it. I will save up for K02's for my next tire I have seen and heard only good things about them.

Looks like you have a spare set of wheels/tires now, you should swap out your trailer axle/hub to match your truck tires, so all your spare tires match.. I did this with my jeep and trailer, its great.
maybe one day
Great review,
How elastic and flexible is the cooper? Do u need to deflate the air by much to start to spread or it would start spreading even when 25 psi?
I had these tires for 30000 at roughly 28-32 psi and the edges wore out, the noise increased, and they start vibrating a lot.
Potential under inflation - 55 psi is probably about right for these
I have BFG KO2's on my 2016 F-350 and 25k. Great tires but not good tread life.
yup agree with ya there.
Mmmm. I have 61,000 miles on my KO2s and I still have decent tread. But mine are on a 4Runner and I rotate them every 5 thousand miles.
I just replaced the cooper at3 xlt that I had on my truck to the toyo at3. I will never go back to cooper tire.
Good to know.
Every tech tells me to avoid Cooper tires.
What didn’t you like about them?
@@jwatt95 I liked my toyo at3. I didn’t like the coopers
@@307elkhunter understand that. I saw that but I’m wondering what didn’t you like about the tires?
Im sorry, they had how many miles on them again? 😆 Jk. Love the set up. Love the lifestyle. Keep on truckin timmy
lol yup repeated that too many times;)
Good video but doing a tire review prob be good to post tire depth
Wearing on the edges usually means underinflated and middle wear usually means overinflation. Usually.
Good review but if you liked them so much why didn’t you buy them again?
Because they don't make them in 37's anymore:(

Right on:)
Timmy, why did you replace the tires if they had 20k more remainung? Is it because you got new rims?
I needed tires and wheels for my truck bed trailer (the ones on there were borrowed from someone).
Are you actually there Tim doing live.I am confused
Kind of, when I do a "premiere" it allows me to chat with you guys instead of just releasing a video (which doesn't allow chat).
Damn I missed it!
No worries man, nothin special.
You also have to account for if you were burnin tires with either of them..
yup
Oh man I just bought those same rims last week! Method 305 bronze right?
Nice! Nailed it!
@@TruckHouseLife The HD versions are rated at a crazy 4500#.
@@davidanderson8469 yup!
Hey Timmy, nice tires, I would like to put those on my 89 Ford F150 Lariat 4x4. Where did you get yours?
Got the coopers at Phelps and the Generals from Trailbuilt Offroad in the lower 48 (had them shipped up, crazy 1 year backorder).
Did you ever rotate or rebalance them? Makes a huge difference in smoothness and lonjevity
Only a couple times, they did pretty well just put 37 Toyo at3's on the Grabbers still had a lot of life left in them and I put about 30,000 miles on them
The only downside of the grabbers is the size of the rocks they pick up. I have them on my half ton and don’t need 4c4 hardly ever.
Yep, they'll pick up some big ones lol.
What are the wheels that the generals are wrapped around?
Method 305NV bronze wheels.
The size of the tire taller get better gas mileage than the shorter one
one would think;)
Sorry I missed your video. How much are your hats?
No worries man, email me at truckhouselife@gmail.com
Are those Generals 3peak rated ?
I dont' think so.
How do you would you rate cooper and snow and ice as to the brgoodrich ko2s
KO2s are better on snow/ice.
lol figures...coopers are more affordable right now compared to my Maxxis A/T that have zero snow ice rating.
How are they on rain on asphalt?
great!
Someone has been poking smot 💨💨
lol it's legal up here but I'm not into it.
@@TruckHouseLife your eyes look like you was into something lol
What are the rims brand and size
Method 503 bronze 8x6.5 lug pattern, 18" x 9"
@truckhouselife what about the rims on your coopers? I have one of the same on my spare and been trying to find a set of those wheels for my next set of tires
The xlt's are rated for 80psi.
65 for mine (35x12.5x16)
Not in every size they’re not.
@@Icutmetal Just like every other AT tire out there.
@@justsayin7937 Exactly, which aren’t rated for 80psi in every size.
Nice! Very informative indeed...Greetings from 🇺🇾☕🥣
Sure thang!
