Great review! I have run the original AT3's for years on my 4Runner, in North Idaho. Love them enough I put them on my work van as well. 4Runner got wrecked, and replaced it with a Tundra. Have the XLT's (34") in my garage, going on this week! Love these tires year round!
Great video Brother. I have ran several sets of Cooper AT3's for over 345k miles on my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado CREW Cab 4x4 Diesel 4x4 pickup and I Absolutely Love them.
I was just watching your mountain bike video. Waiting for the new video to drop. Then started looking into new tires for my rig and boom back on truck house life. Haha. Good to get a review from you.
Your review timely and much appreciated. Had been considering BFG KO2 and after your review, I looked up those tires and will be changing to them instead at the next service. Thanks for sharing.
I love my Cooper tires, that’s all I buy, my last set I got 65,000 miles on them and if winter wasn’t coming here in Michigan I would keep them another six months at least, they build a good tire 😎🤘
Put over 70k miles on my toyo at3 with 6/32 tread left. Come with 13.5/32. Took them off for a fresh set for the winter and how many times I’ve had to plug a couple of them. Put the new Mickey Thompson Baja boss at on the Denali. Impressed except I just learned the siping gets a lot smaller as they wear. If these do worse performance as they wear especially at half tread or below or don’t last 60k miles then I’ll more then likely try these next or the new nitto recon grappler.
The xlt on these actually means they are 10 ply or load range E. Worked for a tire shop for years and cooper was our main brand with general a close second. Coopers outlasted the grabber at-x with no effort at all and did all the same work. They are some of the best A/T tires there are
What's up dude! I live in Anchorage now but I lived in Gwood for a year in '17. I really enjoy your content! I've got a tacoma with a shell myself, tires make all the difference.. I'd love to see you do an episode on the howitzers used for avalanche control @Alyeska. No sleeping in on a snow day in Girdwood!
If your ever curious, there is "Ware bars" in the tread of the tires.. Look for a Small bar that goes across the tread sections.. You will have one for "legally 2-32nd's" I believe and you may have one for 50%. (Again just a little bar that goes between to pieace of the tread across the tire. :) Edit. Infact you touched the 2-32's one @ 2:15 in your video :) just that little bump in between.
I'm on my 3rd set of bfgoodrich AT ko2(10 ply) first 2 set took me over 50k miles, and I definitely didn't get as much offroad on them as I wanted, they saw a lot of pavement and still went over 50k.
My buddy Joe up at Midnight Sun Metalworks in Wasilla, Alaska fabbed it up for me (I just drew up a sketch of what I was looking for and he brought it to life). He's working with me on the flatbed now:)
@@loganmurray8658 around $1,400, a lot cheaper than a Buckstop bumper or several other namebrand ones, and I got to design exactly what i was looking for and it's all aluminum so not rust/paint chipping ever
I'm considering putting them on my GX470 which is heavy-- (around 5K or so-- not counting the custom steel bumper/winch and rear bumper/tire carrier package etc.) and extras... so the weight management of it is definitely of interest.. Only thing I'm concerned of- is the SLINGING rocks behind you... OH-- you just now mentioned that- I don't mind them getting STUCK in the tires-- but it's the slinging them at cars behind me that may be a bit of a hassle.. don't want to get sued for breaking someone's windshield.
They actually don't sling bad at all, my mud terrains actually hold way bigger rocks and sling more, i'll have a 35,000 mile review video coming out in the next couple weeks.
Yeah, they're not the best in the winter, but they also aren't a full-on AT snow-rated tire. They work alright, but there are better tires out there for snow/ice for sure (I drive on it 8 months out of the year up here in Alaska).
If you're a fan of Cooper, their S/T Maxx might be the next move. A hybrid tire. Workhorse, better in gravel, and rugged af - minor highway noise and efficiency tradeoffs.
You should see the tread on my Dr. Martens. 2 million steps later and I'm still walking, can't fit a penny between the grooves, but hey... boots are cheaper than tires. lol

what tires you getting?!?! What size I just took my boggers off. And put the 37x12.50-16.5 hummer tires on my truck. And there quiet and hard tread. I think there gonna work good !! Only issue is finding 16.5 wheels lol
Thats awesome man!! Can't wait to see it. I was eyeing up that lift on the front of your truck I see it's got the sky offroad design shackle reversal same one I have on my truck ! They make the ride so much better !!
I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn. I wanted to go with these AT3xlt or toyo at3 what would you pick? I do mostly Highway commute don't go off road at all looking for a quiet Tire. I do see a lot of snow in Massachusetts.
Hey man I'm looking to get either these Coopers in the video or the updated BF Goodrich KO 2 DT. DT stands for Designated Tread and is supposed to be an upgrade from the original KO 2's to help them not wear out as fast. I would be putting them on a 2016 Crew Cab 4x4 2500HD Chevy with a Duramax. I use my truck to pull my 7,000lb cargo trailer for work on a daily basis. I can't seem to get any more than 32,000 miles on 3 different brand of tires now. I rotate the tires at 10,000 miles every time. My truck also weighs very close to 10k lbs as well. I typically drive on paved roads only and some snow in the winter here in eastern PA. My truck is a fairly stiff ride too stock so does one of these 2 tires listed ride any softer at a load range E? So what tire would you buy for the longest life when towing a trailer as well as the softest ride possible? Cooper XLT or Bf Goodrich KO2 DT?
35 x 12.5 x 16, not sure the offset, pretty much stock wheels. The new wheels and 37s are going on as soon as the tire factory finally produces the tires I ordered back in December lol.
MAJOR ISSUE with these tires. I've had these tires for 30k miles on my RAM and have absolutely loved them in most conditions. Recently I seen a post about someone having cracking on the sidewall and sure enough I had some deep cracks around most of the tire, aprox. 1/2 inch from the rim bead area, on all 4 of my tires. This could have caused a serious accident in the event of a blowout while pulling my TT. I immediately removed these tires from my truck. Just trying to raise awareness before someone has an accident.

Anyone saying BFGs are good must have never used a different tire ever! Literally the worst of any other brand is better then BFGs.
Thanks for the tire info 👍 I’ve never owned Cooper tires, might try them next time.

Very helpful review. Thx!

some say it is so;) They'll be on in January... with the flatbed hehehehehe
I got those tires on my 04 powerstroke. Summer time they are great but in the winter they are terrible.
