Seriously, this guy is one of the boldest NATO members that brings logic to the issue unfolding. Why will NATO wants to bring in more troops when the country has it own Arm Forces? It will only put such country at risk. Zelensky and NATO plus AMERICA does not meant well for the Ukrainian and Europe at large. What will different country want to build military bases in other countries if not to jeopardize the lives and existence of that? Why haven't AMERICA allow any other nation to have military bases on her soil? She value her citizens lives more than the lives of the citizens of the location of these bases around the world.

Because there is no reason to have foreign bases on US soil. Mexico and Canada aren't problem nations. The only neighbor we have who are any problem is Russia and that is off of Alaska which has a joint operations base. Many of those nations also pay us to be there to protect them from potentially violent neighbors like China and Russia. If asked to leave, we leave. The Philippines wanted the naval base closed and we closed it.

Did you notice that when Ukraine/Russia signalled they was close to a deal a few days ago, the atrocities were cranked up. Seems someone doesn’t want this war to end.
As an American watching European news/politics is both refreshing and sad, this reporter and government official had a productive and meaningful conversation without personal attacks and heavy political spin on every statement in contrast with America where that’s the norm unfortunately.

Ukrainian tanks ( yes, most of them were Ukrainian, as Ukraine was the closest Soviet Republic, so their armed forces were sent to Hungary) were going on in our streets in Budapest, and nobody helped us. As those times a 4.5-year-old child, I still have incredible memories of those days. And nobody helped Hungary. The Voice of America broadcasted cheering words, and those young guys believed there would be some help. And no, nothing. Sure, Hungary didn't have the strategic meaning Ukraine has now, but life is so simple. Why preach about high morals instead of talking about political and economic interests? All the so-called free world has left us alone, massacred by the - yes, I must repeat - the Ukrainian -Soviet tanks. I've got no more illusions. The so-called free world is run by very strict economic and political interests. And that's it. We rather stay out of this massacre. We rather help those who suffer than fuel this war with ideology and weapons. God save us all from the escalation of this conflict.

I don't think it was a fair inference to question Hungary's NATO loyalty just because they wouldn't take NATO troops. A lot of other old NATO countries have had the position during the cold war that they own military was the defense until further notice.
Péter Szijjártó is an excellent communicator and he is not taking any bait or questions that were designed to be provocative.
Diplomacy is important, Hungary has the right to consider what’s best for Hungary. But as part of the EU and NATO we also appreciate Hungary as a partner, we hope we can stay strong united but we have to do our best to prevent war. Amen 🙏🏻

1. Putin ordered Orban to visit him, in order to groriate him as a NATO country prime minister in the domestic media. They didn't negotiated on any important topic such as ukrainian crisis, just ongoing staffs like hungarian nuclear plant construction
2. Macron went to Moscow and Kijev to negotiate on ukrainian occupation in order to avoid war.

Hungary has a good Foreign Minister that has a good pulse on what could really happen if a compromise is not reached. Sanctions are being used like tissue paper and erodes in its effectiveness when over-used.
I pray that peace prevails and we can advance with win-win solutions that do not include kinetic conflict. Dialogue and more dialogue for peaceful settlement in phases is the only solution.

I won't get into whataboutisms when we're talking about human pain and misery. No matter which way you slice it, Putin has declared war on the free people of Ukraine.
Ukraine is for Putin what Vietnam was for the US. In the end, what matters is what the people of Ukraine want. You blame NATO and the US of warmongering but you never asked the Ukrainian people what they want. If they want to join any coalition, it should be their choice to do so. Be it NATO, the USSR, the EU or common day Russia.
I believe they have already made their decision known. Not respecting it in this manner is a war crime. Every Russian and Ukrainian soldier that is killed could have easily been avoided if Putin was not looking to expand his borders.

Hungary is a good partner of the EU and NATO but has also sovereignty as a nation state, they must decide what suits there interest. We are independent states within the EU and I think it’s fine Hungary makes their own decisions
