India has 29 states so you can have at least 29 different major cuisine to try and they are drastically different from each other, but for that visit India 🇮🇳 and not to forget there are so many regional cuisine too. So its a paradise for your tastebuds. 😊

Hi Jessica, Break the Idli into small pieces with your hand, dip into the Chutneys and pop into your mouth with your hand. The same thing with vada. So the sauce is called chutney, the green colored one is the mint chutney. The white colored chutney is normally made with coconut. white chutney could also be made with peanut.

Great to know you enjoyed our food. Some small mistakes on the part of the restaurant... we don't eat papad/appalam with biryani. Except Hyderabad Dum Biryani which is made with Basmati, other South Indian biryanis are made with regional rice varieties. And please, please, please, no Tamilian will ever eat Madras fish curry with naan. A South Indian fish curry is best with regional rice or dosa. These are not restrictions but just tried and tested over time! 😋😁

The lentil soup is Sambhar (Curry). You should dip everything in that and put green sauce or red sauce (chutney) on them too. Curry is mainly for dipping or submerging the dry component of the dish.

Indian food is vastly diverse and rich in variety; actually it changes here in India as you move from one state to another, literally, south north east west; each region has different taste.
4:14 Idli is a type of savory rice cake made by steaming a batter consisting of fermented rice.
In India, sauces are called "chutney/s".
4:21 "green chutney" is made of grated coconut, fried gram, peanuts, garlic, salt , chili and cumin.
5:07 "Tomato chutney" is made with tomatoes, spices and herbs. (NO YOGURT)
6:51 "Sambar" made with lentils, mixed vegetables, tamarind, herbs, spices & a special spice powder known as sambar powder.
7:20 "Medu vada", fried doughnut shaped fritters made with black gram (urad dal), herbs and spices.
8:22 "Uttapam" pancakes made with lentils, rice, onions, herbs & spices.
9:50 Biryani, a mixed rice dish, made with Indian spices, rice, and meat.
11:13 Vegetable "Raita" is a side dish made with yogurt and is often served with any kind of biryani or pulao; made with onion, tomato, green chili, green coriander. Raita has a cooling effect while eating a spicy biryani.
12:12 "Salan" thin gravy, made with peanuts, sesame seeds, coconut, biryani gravy, chillies (seldom served with biryani)
13:11 Dosa, thin crepe made with fermented rice and lentil batter (rest u explained)
18:24 dont know what this is, even Im seeing this for the first time; u must have tried a rare and local south Indian regional dish; many Indians too, dont know abt it.
21:29 called paapadam (not bread) is a thin Indian wafer, sometimes called a cracker or flatbread made from dried lentils; eaten fried or roasted. Eaten mostly as a side snack.
23:49 This dosa type, too, is rare in India. Mostly dosa is a vegetarian food; but now many fusions and combinations are being served.
As you are rice lovers; Do try different restaurants and check biryani there; as taste literally changes than south Indian biryani. Try biryani of different varieties like chicken, goat, lamb, prawn, fish.
Hope you try more and variety of Indian food; Happy eating.

Hi there, happy for you guys for getting to know how the indian food tastes, but please do try to eat them with your hands because using your hands and mixing the curry and the rise and naan will enhance the taste. It will make the food mix more evenly and give a explosion of tastes. There is no special type of mixing different curry with your food, each curry will give your it's own unique flamour. The crispy bread you told is called Paappad in north and Pappadam in kerala and even in Tamil Nadu. Keep on trying new tastes...
    Thank you❤️❤️

In fact, even North Indians do not know about the taste of South Indians....
The dishes of North Indians are slightly sour and less spicy.
Northerners do not like spicy flavors, and most of the foods that do not happen are based on wheat.
Tamil Nadu and Kerala in particular can be said to be the paradise of spices in South Indian cuisine.
Pepper, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, etc., which have been grown here for a long time, are world famous spices.
Mainly South Indian foods are based on rice & cereals

Looking at your reactions it says you enjoyed alot 🙂 and yes the white cripsy thing is called as papads. If you have any indian outlet where you get maharastrian food , do try that(if possible) You will also love that😇

To be exact or specific, you just tried the tamilnadu cousine. Tamilnadu is a state/ province in India. Similarly, there are andhra food, kerala food, Goan food & kannada food which are are specific to seperate states in South India. By the way you should definitely and specifically try Kerala food

Every time , they say sauce for chutney and sambar... I heart aches
    Green chutney made of mint
    Red chutney is tomato chutney
And sambar is typical south indian .. a mix of vegetables in the dal and different spices .. please make sure of the names of the food. Please it definetely misleading.

The yogurt sauce is called Raita. The yellow thin by the side of biryani is called Poppodom. Today it is available in British Pubs in England. The spices come from Kerala , called 'God's Own Country'. You must see youtube videos of Kerala.

@@NidhiSinha4U cardamom’s etc have only in the last decade effort was made to grow in TN, NorthEast etc. originally they grew in the hills of Kerala. Pepper and cloves where are they grown? It is good in the last decade great effort is being made by the agriculture department to make these plants grow in other pockets. History says our land was colonised because they came looking for spices. Where did these people land?
