    An absolutely brilliant review, no fluff. Straight to the point, and some awesome music to end it all.

    I got a pair of them about a month and a half ago and have been very very happy with them! Amazing value with so many features. I have used mine only for GMRS since I do not(yet?) have a HAM license. and BTW... I use my lanyard / wrist strap!

    I did a video on this too and agree with everything Mike says. The customer service is excellent as I demonstrate.

      My 1st H3 went out in flames while charging, replacement radio doesn't transmit at all. TID refusing to send the replacement, advising me to put the battery of replacement radio to 1st radio (one that burned out in flames). Tragi-Comedy...

    It will be interesting to know how this radio performs on the airband. Hopefully it has 8.33khz tuning steps and AM receive mode.

    • @M7EUP
      @M7EUP 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      At the moment it doesn’t but they’re working on it. It’s to do with the amount of available memory and the solution will be to remove “other” menu languages to make space just leaving English.

    • @tyreburster
      @tyreburster 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@M7EUP I guess the tuning steps are 12.5khz in that case.

      Yes, or 10kHz if you do a software update. 10 was added to include UK CB FM scanning. If you enter 27.601 it will default to 27.60125

    Not related to this video I'm afraid, but I'd love an update on your Air to Air heat pump. Also, do you know why the installer has stopped making videos?

      I will ask that question for you, as for the update the system is brilliant and I have no regrets. Combined with my solar system our energy bills have decreased by 2/3.😊

    Wow, so they did fix the spurious emissions on VHF? Did you buy yours directly from TIDRADIO?

    Is there an internal birdie on 156.000 MHz (Marine Channel 0)? Most of the other Chinese hand held radios will hold the squelch open on this frequency which makes them unsuitable for monitoring the coastguard/lifeboats.

    • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do not know perhaps someone will post the answer here.

    • @adamtooob
      @adamtooob 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't have experience with marine radio; also I'm in the US. I have a recent TD-H3 ("HAM" version) bought from TIDRADIO on Amazon, with version 20240416 firmware. On default squelch setting of 5 (and the stock "short" antenna), it does hang open on 156.000 (and any set channel between there and 156.007.50). A quick web search shows US marine VHF starting at 156.050 which does stay squelch closed on this unit.

    • @adamtooob
      @adamtooob 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      BTW raising squelch setting to max (9) does not remove this behavior. Some static bursts when playing with the menu make me wonder if the noise is tied to the display. Also, oddly, with squelch set to 0/open the noise level isn't high - in fact is much louder to the ear above 156.010 and below 155.990. Not sure if they're doing something to dodge a known noise source, either in HW or (feels more like) SW?

    • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@adamtooob I’m guessing that it is the internal oscillator harmonic at this frequencies after all it is supposed to be a 2M / 70cm radio. 😊

    @MIKE-M0MSN , I'm amazed that 30 youtube-ham- channels all do not know how to test a radio ... they all act as if the receiver is not important ... what about Sensitivity, Selectivity, Resistance against overloading from outofband signals ? ... we are lost, all they test is the stupid power ..and the whole boafeng generation applauds for it ...aarrggh.

    • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes you are probably right, we have all gone down the route of testing claimed output and cleanliness of the transmission, because these tests are important we do not want you or us to break the hard earned licensing agreements. Although I understand your position the receiver isn’t going to get your license revoked. I will try to include more details on the receiver side of things on my videos going forward, thank you for the post.👍

      Yes I agree totally. Absolutely no one mentions SINAD. I have a Ailunce HD1 and the receiver on that has terrible gain switching noise but it's never mentioned in reviews. Maybe mine is faulty but still, my cheap Alinco vx50 has a much better receiver than the HD1.
