    I'm a newbie to GMRS and ham...I have 2 TID h3's and 2 Ailunce hag1's . With extra batteries and Nagoya 771g antennas,as well as the ear piece mics and separate handheld mics...and I have found a few channels with really good information to help me learn ,and I am very appreciative for them...I also have other means of shtf comms..an old school analog marine radio with all north American and international frequencies and an old school handheld cb radio that I have used with a 6 foot vehicle antenna on a 1 story roof to make contact with a person from Alabama while I was in Coventry CT..but atmospheric conditions were perfect that day...thank you for your time and effort to educate the newcomers into the fold 👍👍. Already like hearing how innovative this radio is, with the various methods of not only programming, but the transfer of Data, one radio to another, wirelessly !
    👍😉

      Thanks for watching, it does have a lot of options for programing the radio. I'm working on another video on using the Bluetooth app as well as the transfer from radio to radio since I have to of them so keep a look out for that. 73 -Kevin

    Wow this was a really great video! I’m new to gmrs and I’m studying for the ham technician. You’re definitely one to follow. Thanks!

    I have a general license; I have 3 HF radios a Kenwood, a Yaesu and a Xiegu G 90 field radio, I have had 5 Baofeng's gave most of them away, I have 2 Quansheng; UV-K5's, a Yaesu dual band, a Anytone AT779 dual band/GMRS and now this TD-H3. I think, of the hand helds I personally like the H3 the best, thanks for the video, I need to give the ISS a try before they finally deorbit it. 73's🎙KD9OAM🎧

      Thanks for watching, it has been a decent radio for me so far, not that I am using it too much, but its still going strong. Hope to catch you on the air some time! 73 -Kevin

    Thanks for the video. Never found app named Sat Sat in the App Store. Can you post the link?

    It's a good radio, but stand it next to a Talkpod A36a with identical antennas( either a Nagoya 701, or Retevis equivalent), and watch which stations they receive. The Talkpod gets them all while the Tid does not. 🧐
    Fact: the Talkpod has a more sensitive receive section.

    After the Russian and Chinese bombers decided to check out the views in Alaska I have begun planning for communications with my wife should we be apart when SHTF. After almost 2 weeks of research I am buying 2 TidRadio TD-H3 radios as the best choice without breaking the bank.

    Thats a nice pair of tids. I'd get one but my wife already thinks I have enough HTs laying around

      Thanks for the sub and thanks for watching. After using the TD-H3 and the TD-H8 I almost find myself preferring the H3 it is a decent radio for the price! 73 -Kevin

    You can unlock it so it will transmit on 1.25 meter band and others. Do Not unlock frequencies and attempt to transmit on them if they are out of the HAM radio bands.

    I bought the TD-H3 as my first radio. I used to be a CB user back in the day. I have no idea what to do as far as operating this radio. Is there a channel for the newbies you can suggest?

    • @WQ9FHamRadio
      @WQ9FHamRadio  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got my start on CB radio as well back in my teen years. If you have your ham radio license I would suggest looking to see if there are any repeaters in your area. You can look at RepeaterBook website to find repeaters near you, or you can monitor 146.52 which is the national simplex frequency. You can also listen to the GMRS Frequencies as well. 73! -Kevin

    I recommend getting the tidraido H8... It's double the transmit power except no airband but that's no problem but if you must have airband get the talkpod A36+ on the side like I did. The talkpod A36+ in itself is a fantastic radio but I have both and like them equally maybe I like the tidraido just a little more because it's more powerful with better build quality in my opinion.

    • @WQ9FHamRadio
      @WQ9FHamRadio  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have the H8 and I thought that the airband receive was a bit better on the H3 that I got. That could come down to all sorts of things though, might try with a different antenna on the H8. I'll definitely look into the Talkpod though, thanks! 73 -Kevin

    How did you program this radio for satellite (ISS) QSOs?

    • @WQ9FHamRadio
      @WQ9FHamRadio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I programmed VFO A to the uplink and VFO B to the downlink and then switched between them really quickly. It is not an ideal way at all to make a satellite QSO but it worked for me this time. 73! -Kevin

      @@WQ9FHamRadio Thanks, I will give it a try. I think the problem is that with the squelch open all the way, the receive is picking up on the Uplink as well as the Downlink. I will work on getting a antenna for satellite operations.

    220 will transmit, you just turn the TX 200 on in the menu. #54? Not sure.

    • @MisterBigDave
      @MisterBigDave 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And menu #4 you need to set the parameter to 10.000 so the proper 1.6 offset can be selected and work.
