    I'm in college studying computer animation I didn't learn none of this 😯 Thank you! 🤭

      There is a lot to learn 👍
      FYI, a better way to join the two sides is just to delete the faces after circularize components. Then double click the edge of the top hole hold shift, then double click the edge of the bottom hole, then hold shift right click and select bridge
      It is a faster way of closing the hole. You still need to bevel edges after

    How to use this method for a cylinder? Im modeling a vintage telephone. For the dial pad i need to make holes. How do i make holes using this method? Thanks in advance

      Make some loop cuts first, here is the basic concept used to make a handle on this coffee cup th-cam.com/video/V59XKklgfDE/w-d-xo.html

    How do you do this with a rectangle? I am making a pull toy but the wheels are on the sides (so the long sides of the rectangle) would I just need to add a ton of subdivisions?

    • @WhatMakeArt
      @WhatMakeArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      You just need two edge loops in the middle for the circle, then you can add subdivisions later after you do all your beveling and things at lower poly

    Even faster, instead of extruding the upper part, just make cyrcle on both sides at the same time, delete the inside on both parts and bridge between their edges, anyway, liked the vid, nice method

      Bro, thanks for the tip, really fast and easy even for noobs like me (his method was more complicated by also taught me to use V to snap things, which will be very handy)

    Why you didn't use bridge to make the hole? Really like your video man!

    • @WhatMakeArt
      @WhatMakeArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, using the bridge tool to make holes in Maya works well too

    what if we want to make 2 square wholes on a plane?

    • @WhatMakeArt
      @WhatMakeArt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can repeat the process and just bridge between the holes, if you're making multiple holes, it makes sense to add edge loops to separate the geometry to have the less diagonals that make up your quads

    If this is the most efficient way to make a hole in a cube with quad topology in maya I have to say I don't understand why anyone would waste their money and time on this when blender is so much faster.

    • @WhatMakeArt

    learned how to doge boleans and that I CAN PRESS F10 FOR EDGE MODE THANK U!!!

  • @Kori37mm
    @Kori37mm ปีที่แล้ว +1

    why don't you want to use booleans to create a hole?

    • @WhatMakeArt
      @WhatMakeArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the end is just the mesh without any smoothing then that is fine, but if you want to subdivide the mesh or smooth it, then using booleans in Maya can make topology with lots of n-gons and extra vertices in strange places
