I love my Aethos, non-S-Works edition, I built with mechanical D/A and Ultegra 11 speed mix grouppo. It simply makes me want to ride, all the time. This bike brings the joy of riding like no other bike I ave ever had, excepting a Merlin Extralite from the late 90’s when I was much younger and fast. It rides amazingly nice, is well damped and plenty stiff. It bombs the descents with precision and climbs as well as you, meaning it never holds you back. I love this Bike!

D/A R9100 shifters and calipers, Ultegra R8000 derailleurs, 11-34 ultegra cassette, Zipp carbon handlebar and SL speed stem, Prologo NDR saddle, Roval sea post, Praxis Zyante Carbon crank and ceramic BB, Assioma Duo pedals, Roval CLX Alpinist wheels - 15.6lbs. Sweet bike, worth every penny for the smiles and health it brings me. Geometry is fabulous for me, not many bikes I have had are so agreeable. Enjoy the build!!!
@@Jamesthebikeguy there’s a mechanical port housing cover that comes with the bike as well. The bike comes with the block off plate which is on your video/bike. You’d just need to swap covers.
Although I have 2020 Roubaix comp Ultegra which is a fantastic bike but I still think that Specialized are totally taking the piss with their pricing. I can’t believe it cost so much and still got crappy alloy wheels on just like my Roubaix came with until I swapped them out.
Ngl, I'd take the Roubaix over these bikes. Aethos is about the bling factor but for the majority of humanity that isn't blessed to be rich enough to ride everyday in the Canaries, Roubaix is the much better bike.

Since i had known there used to get some complaints on Sram front derailleur shifting, i wonder if Sram wedge for front derailleur has been assembled already on this completed bike, which should be the solution to the problem? I'm thinking of getting this in the comp version, with rival e-tap, when its available again. I used to have a tarmac sL2. it got destroyed and I no longer use it. I know it's heavier than the s-works counterparts. but the s-works price tag is a bit to steep for my blood. How do you think of the comp version?

Nice ride no doubt. But the R470 wheelset is so mediocre … of course they hope you’ll pop for some Roval alpinists instead - that’s a tiny frame compared to the giant Tarmac you used in comparison shots - extreme ends of the size spectrum - and man there’s just something wrong with a dork disc and stock reflectors on an Aethos. But nice overview nonetheless. ⭐️🚴🏻♂️
@@darrendrummond7916 I think we're seeing about the absolute limits of what can be done with cutting weight, unless some new super material replaces carbon fiber. At this point, its more likely to be how to optimize weight and geometry and will likely mean the end of the distinctions between aero bike, climbing bike, etc. Bikes like the Scultura. A Scultura 9000 only packs 160g more than this aethos, but has the more aero benefits and a more comfortable geometry. And the Scultura team is significantly less $$$ than the top shelf aethos equivalent

You can use mechanical shifters and mechs. The lower spec frames have the tombstone on the downtube to allow this. It is also shown on the website how to route the cables.
Nice frame, but overpriced, and in this build even more overpriced and veeery heavy. My basic old Canyon ultimate disc with mechanical ultegra and a bit deeper wheels weighs under 7,4kg complete ready to ride for about 3000€
that's a lot of money for an OK bike with an OK spec and really bottom of the barrel wheels for this price point. I think specialized is a bit too proud of their products, wouldn't get a cent out of me.

I have this bike in black and added Roval CL II alpinist wheels. Holy moly this thing is amazing
The Aethos 10R supports mechanical as well. That’s the cover thing you were pointing at on the downtube. S-Works is electronic only
You're correct, I stand corrected. Those ports are tiny, but apparently can run 4 mm housing

I have a 2021 Roubaix Sport and it's amazing how fast and comfortable it is. Someday I would like to get an Aethos with Di2 though.

It's weird how much those features make my brain process it as a less expensive bike!
My old canyon aeroad weighed in at about 7.6kg with 105 and deep section rims also only cost me £2800
