- Tillamook had very humble beginnings in 1909, when it started as a small cooperative of dairy farmers in Tillamook County, Oregon. It has since grown into a national dairy brand, particularly famous for its loaves of orange cheddar cheese. The creamery also makes a whole array of other products, including ice cream, yogurt, and butter.
From its inception, TIllamook has focused on quality. It has a commitment to never using fillers in its products, which has led to numerous awards. So what's the story behind this dairy brand, and what's with that boat in its logo? We have the answers. This is the untold truth of Tillamook.

I live on the Oregon coast, and we are very proud of Tillamook cheese and ice cream. It's the best!
I live in Tillamook, the cheese factory is only 2 miles from my home. I took my sis (from out of town) on a tour through the factory once. She immediately got hooked on the cheese curds they sell there.

I live in waldport Oregon not far from Tillamook... And to tell the truth Tillamook cheese has gone through a booty hole.. I love pepper jack. A week ago I bought some and there was no peppers in it... My neighbor likes Colby-Jack and it tastes like sharp cheddar... Diversity hires had its best.
I am from 🇨🇦 and have never tasted better cheese in my life. We stopped at the Tillamook dairy and bought 5 different kinds of cheese and it was to die for.
A friend of mine from CA told me about it last year and I'm spoiled now! I tried the cheeses later and not disappointed at all!😋😋
Tillamook has been my number 1 cheese and ice cream brand for several years. Not necessarily because of the taste and quality, but because it is one of the few dairy products made in America that is free from Sodium Fluoride added to watersheds.
Just discovered their ice cream a few months ago = top not & free of chems found in other brands👍👍 Now to find their cheeses 😅🙌🙏
I bought their strawberry ice cream once, and there wasn't a single piece of strawberries in it. Went back to the store brand that is chock full of strawberries.

i moved to oregon from california where cheese was produced. tillamook cheddar is excellent, one of the best in the country.

Yeah I'm in East Portland and I freaking love Tillamook dairy. Only just tried their ice cream fairly recently and it was amazingly creamy.

being from the heart of cheese making country in Wisconsin, I havent tried their cheese but our grocery store just started carrying their ice cream and it is top notch.

Their coconut ice cream is the best I've ever tasted in the states. I use to live in Thailand and when I want to reminisce about living there, I get a pint of Tillamook's coconut ice cream.

San Jose, California here. I'm addicted to Tillamook products. Butter, cheese, ice cream - so delicious. Even though I'm a chocoholic, I adore Tillamook's peach ice cream. It's divine.

I was able to visit the Tillamook area September 2021 and toured the creamery. I already knew I enjoyed their ice cream, but after learning why it’s so good (more cream, less air), I’ve been determined to only buy (and eat) the best. I really love their Malted Moo Shake. I’m also very fond (as in buy several bags instead of only one) of their cheese curds… yummy! I have a trip planned in May to visit Tillamook, Netarts, and Portland and I definitely will be stopping in at least once!
Great ice cream! I don't see their cheeses around Lewes, De. but a few stores carry their ice cream. Yum!

I knew their cheese was good, but I didn’t know it was *that* good. I always see their products in stores around here. I really like their ice cream, as we don’t usually get their cheese.
It's very good. Very flavorful. The ice cream is very creamy. It's a bit more expensive but.. Priorities right!😊 Treat yourself.
Where I'm at, I can't afford Tillamook cheese! Its like twice as much as the next brand. But all their stuff is delicious! I see it a lot on TH-cam channels like Rosanna Pansino and even TKOR. They also have a couple of really good meat smokers and as anyone who's been to Oregon knows, microbrews are everywhere.
Along with all this feel-good stuff, I think it's necessary to take note of some really nasty corporate behavior by this company. For example, when they bought the neighboring Bandon co-op, they promised to keep the Bandon creamery open, with all its local jobs, but in the event they immediately shut it down. They have also been very aggressive about suing small companies that use "Tillamook" in their names, such as Tillamook Country Smoker, never mind that the co-op doesn't own the name Tillamook. It's the name of a historic Indian tribe, for goshsake--and also the name of the Oregon county where the creamery was founded, and its main city. For these reasons, I generally avoid Tillamook products, as a protest.
tillamook country smoker was sued because they copied the tillamook fonts and logos exactly as it appeared on the dairy products and people thought the meat products were made by the co-op. as for bandon, their creamery operation was old and basically falling apart, and was not economically feasable to keep it going. and tillamook did offer jobs to the bandon employees if they wanted them.
Good choice. Tillamook creamery and associated are actually really wicked like any corporation. They are hypocrites at their very nature.
I'm from all the way across the country, in Georgia. Have been to the Tillamook factory at least 5 times. And I agree with most of the comments on here. Tillamook cheese and ice cream are the best. And as of the past few years, am finally able to get them in Georgia thru Kroger and Publix.
When I was 9 yrs, I got to tour the Tillamook Dairy . In 1992 I was in the area, and I wanted to go on a tour....Sorry booked up until next week... My go to cheddar. You can taste the grass fed taste in their cheese. The best ! In my area,it can be hard to find More Tillamook products ,But I did find where to get Tillamook butter .
Tillamook cheese, ice cream and every other one of their products blows all their competition out of the water. If given the choice in any store I'll choose Tillamook every time. Their ice cream beats Hagan Daz and Ben and Jerry's by a mile. If you get the chance take the creamery tour.
Besides cheese and ice cream I love their sour cream.
I heard about Tillamook from an online comic called, "Basic Instructions." The cartoonist grew up in Oregon and recommended the mild cheddar that's mentioned in this video. I kept an eye out next time I went to various stores. Took a couple tries, but I eventually found it, and I have to agree it's a damn good cheese.
Haven't been there for years but Tillamook used to have a satellite store in Brookings. Their garlic cheese curds were absolutely delicious, worth buying a few pounds and pigging out on. If you're in Oregon, another fantastic creamery is Umpqua brand, excellent milk, butter, cheese and ice cream, rivals Tillamook though Tillamook still beats them on cheese.
I still get those at our local Fred Meyer store.

The Vanilla Bean Tillamok saved me and my family’s lives. Two really bad guys broke into our home. My wife offered them some of the vanilla bean ice cream. They accepted, and they were so dumbfounded by the flavor and creaminess that I was able to take their weapons and shoot them both fatally, in the head, while they sat with their eyes closed, and went, “mmmmmmmmmm”
We called the police, of course, but not until four that morning. We seemed unaware that we were sitting in the middle of the crime scene, eyes closed, going, “mmmmmmmmmmm”

Been in Oregon 22 years. Tillamook cheese is the best. We also have Beaver mustard. Highly recommend to visit the Tillamook cheese factory. Only thing that sucks. The prices are the same as the grocery store. You think they would discount it since they do not have to ship it.

Tillamook cheese=great
Tillamook ice cream never gets hard, it’s elastic due to too much gum, no less than 4 kinds of gum; it actually shakes like jello when soft because it’s so gummy; they call it creamy LOL!
So a couple of years ago I bought some tillamook cheese that was bad. I added it to my grandsons mac and cheese and I grilled a sandwich. Neither one of us could eat it. I wish it would have tasted just like bad cheese. It was not expired or moldy or turning white. It had absolutely no flavor like we were eating cardboard. I sent the numbers to tillamook they sent me a big 3$ coupon. I tried to buy it after that but couldn’t get past the experience.
There had to be some artificial ingredient that they forgot to add.

I only buy Tillamook ice cream because it has no GMO/Bioengineered ingredients. Even so, I still check its (and all) ingredient lists.

Tillamook medium cheddar is the best ever.
I love it but they keep SHRINKING all the sizes of all the products. You can only do this so many times before you have nothing left to shrink. Just charge more
The entire area I go way back and that area is like god blessed it. That is one holy area as are all the people near or in it. I am no longer there at the end of my life but even the cows are holy. and in the flood the people grieved for those cows they called their girls. That is one holy place on this earth.

Tillamook cheese and dairy tried to sue Tillamook jerky for trademark or something bullshit
No way cool talk ab their lawsuit saying they outsource most of their milk from giant factory farms
They could dramatically improve their sales by getting strong Kosher certification very easily as they have already gotten hallal certification and choose not to.
The tillamook County smoker was just recently kosher certified for our new production of vegan jerky

Ayo I literally live in tillamook, Oregon. I’m lactose intolerant but god damn I risk it all for that creamy ice cream all the time.
Tillamook has guar guar gum in their ice cream. And other stabilizers. Vanilla ice cream should only have cream, vanilla, sugar and egg yolks. I will stick with Hāāgen Daz.

Currently being a young adult living here, and having grown up here, I can confidently say it is extremely racist, generally bigoted, and very barren. Aside from dairy products and logging, we are also known for our poorly made meth, and militias. This place nearly killed my dreams, and nearly doused will to live. Nice on the outside, take off the rose colored glasses and it has quite the unsightly underbelly

When I was a kid I field trip was to the telework cheese factory Creamery whatever you want to call it. They had cheese samples you can try to milk one of the cows which was a very unique experience when you're at 5 years old. At the end we all got to sit down and eat as much ice cream as we wanted.Good times.😹
