    Love watching videos like this. I need a low light stand to put behind me in my videos. The mic stand. Brilliant I’ve got loads of them.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It works great! They make dedicated light stands with that form factor, but they’re usually pretty expensive compared to how cheap the mic stands are.

    • @HeresMo
      @HeresMo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tombuck that’s true but I have the adaptors and some spare mic stands. And even my smallest light stand is not as short as those so I’d have to buy one. Plus I don’t have a lot of space. I was going to mount the light on a plank of wood originally so now I get that little bit extra height so that’s great

    I like that your "main" mic's boom arm is clamped onto a table that's separate from the work surface in front of you -- so there is way less chance of vibration noises from the keyboard, your hands on the table, etc. (My set-up also has that advantage.) Highly recommended, where do-able.

    Tom, I'd love to know what tools you use to play sounds with the AKAI on MacOS! I have an old APC mini that I use as a mixer on Windows (with voicemeeter) but I haven't figured a way to do that on the Mac yet (I have sliders that control volumes of many virtual cables on Windows so I can basically change volumes on a per app basis, as well as some audio routing and soundboarding)
    Also, I'd love to see your take on Voicemeeter alternatives for the Mac!

    Hi. My friend and I are planning to start recording podcasts together, but we can't agree on whether the quality difference between expensive and affordable microphones is really necessary. I suggest buying at least an MV7 or an SM7B, while my friend prefers microphones in the Podmic price range. Do you think the difference between these two microphones would be noticeable for listeners? Do you think we should go all out and choose established, high-end products, or would more budget-friendly microphones suffice? Thank you for your recommendations.

    Ultrawide monitors for the win!!! Also thanks for the heads up on the Mac Mini hub. How fast is the write speed? I'm currently using a Samsung T7 to edit off of in FCP. Do you think the speeds from the hub are comparable? Even if not seems like a solid idea to get one and at least store stuff on.

    Hi Tom! Which AC adapter are you using for your Canon EOS R? Thank you!!! And could you please share the adapters for attaching the Shure 55 to the Rod Arm Stand? Seems to be that you shared some links, but those are not working. Thank you for all your videos, I have seen most of them :)

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the R, I'm actually just using the battery. It lasts 3-4 hours so it's not a problem for me. Canon does sell an AC adapter with a dummy battery though, and I should definitely invest in that.
