    That's a fine collection of .44 specimen. I won't even dare to ask how much the engraved anaconda costs. Here in Europe, it'd be at least 4k euros. As for the B/C gap, you have perfect examples. I'm especially surprised how tight your taurus is. M44s are known to have +.008" gaps brand new. I.e., my raging bull currently has 006" on the left side and 008" on right. And it only has 500 rds through it. But it shoots great, so i'm not gonna bother with it. Great video 👍

      Thank you! I do appreciate your comments. And yes, the Anaconda was way over MSRP. As for the Taurus, that is just how I got it. Maybe I should check my other Taurus revolvers...

    Engineers debate over gap and forcing cones. It's actually very easy to produce any size gap consistently. There's no superiority at play here.
    Different size gaps and cone shapes produce different pressure dynamics that can affect performance and the life of the gun. Hence the arguments.
    I subscribe to a longer angled, polished cone, with a gap as large as .007-.010 without spitting, or great losses of pressure will provide good performance, lower recoil, and much less stress on the gun.

    My feeler gauge has .003 .0036 .005 .007 .008 (it does not have .004 😂) I have a 6” Colt Python from 2023 with a lot of cylinder end shake, like a lot, BUT won’t let .0036 slide in only .003 goes through. So even with a gap within factory standard and within Kuhnhausen's strict standards the end shake sill feels like a lot.

    Shouldn't blow your mind. That's not how you measure cylinder gap. The gun has to be pointed up with the cylinder pushed back, not laying on its side. Then the cylinder must be rotated and every chamber throat checked against the forcing cone. You'd be hard press to find a square cylinder face that checks the same gap on all throats.
    I can take your putty and throw him through my 629 gap with room for his friend to spare.

      Okay, all cylinders were already in their rear most positions. The only one's with front back travel are the Smith's. For video convenience sake, timing, display and framing they were all laid out as shown. They were also random cylinders.
      I'll tell you what, if you make a video showing how to measure multiple revolvers and cylinder gap and tag me in it as well as post a link in this comment section, I will make a new video showing your way of doing things. But if the results of my video are similar, I get to call you out as a troll... 😉😉 If the my video shows a tremendous difference in measurement you get to call me out as am ignorant moron.

    On the back hawk, he had it on the barrel, not on the cylinder

    Not really a far comparison. Single actions should have tighter cylinder/forcing cone tolerances. Try a Ruger RedHawk instead.

    cylinder gap on a single action will always be smaller than on a double ..as for your colt at .003? that's out spec..the smith is within factory spec

    • @kstofkos
      @kstofkos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can explain, you have my curiosity peaked. What is the spec on the Colt and why is .003 out of spec? I figure the tighter the better to a point. And why is the cylinder gap on single actions always smaller?
      Thanks for watching and commenting! Looking forward to your reply.

      @@carolinausedmachinery I appreciate the input. I did make sure the cylinders were all the way back prior to filming. I also see your point with carbon build up, but pertaining to that I have never had an issue with the exception of my black powder revolvers.

      @@kstofkos well colt spec's are larger than .003 as are most manufacturers because the cylinder expands from the heat..I had a Ruger that had a small gap .003/.004..did a action job in it and went to the range..after just 4 shots the cylinder would no longer turn..no matter how hard I pulled the trigger...I had to increase the gap to .006...as for end shake it should be measured with the revolver cocked....my smith has .001/.0015 at rest and .000 when cock ..as for the single action revolvers I don't really know..but mine are tighter the my doubles ..I remember reading some where that it's common for them to be a lil tighter...maybe cause you don't firer them as fast..I just really don't know
