      He isn't really on the street you can see it and hear it even better. He is in a small room recording it's kind of blue or green screen.. When he speaks louder there is this room echo.. But you should also be able too see that it's just a screen

    • @NewYorkVocalCoaching
      @NewYorkVocalCoaching  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@joefarmer7727 Actually all of the Quick Singing Tips series were filmed around New York City. There were a couple that were filmed elsewhere (Ep. 37 was in Michigan, and Ep. 38 in Wolfeboro, NH), but a green screen was never used. This is why in the QST series you'll often see people looking at him or "video bombing". For the most part though, he's no spectacle as NYC has a lot going on all the time. All of the other series, except for the introductions of some of the episodes which are often filmed on the street, were filmed in Studio. Justin and his team put a lot of work into the Quick Singing Tips series and it was a lot of fun to do with all the different locations. Ultimately, filming all around the City became a lot more work than anticipated and that's why the series has, for now, come to an end. :) (If it were filmed in a studio we'd for sure still be doing it!) -NYVC

Flageolet is the bridge to whistle and just like mixed voice for chest, bringing chest voice up heavily will impede capacity to use head voice and mixed voice will just extend the range and power up.

    I am so glad you made this video because a lot of people get flagolet and whistle register confuse. I'm a Male High Soprano that sing in head voice and flagolet in the 6th and 7th octave all the time. I always call flageolet the superhead voice above the head voice.

    • @honeymarinade3935
      @honeymarinade3935 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any examples? Flageolet reaches up to around Eb6 before whistle kicks in. Whistle usually starts around F6. I dont think you're close to singing in the 6th octave at all because most songs that require 6th arent lyrical.

    For some reason, my flageolet does not sound squeaky at all. If I do, it cuts off and makes no sound at all other than compressed air or all of a sudden a defining Loud screech sound would come out. One question is is it possible to sing through my falsetto falsetto bridge seamlessly? It would help when I am trying to sing in recordings without switching from falsetto to flageolet all the time.

    I'm not sure but I think my flageolet starts at G#5 and goes for about an octave past that. But I can't hit anything in this register without forcing lots of air and straining excessively. When I try to use less air, no sound comes out at all. I am afraid to practice these high notes because I think I will just ruin my voice because I can't do it without straining, so I just practice on my middle notes (C3-C5) in the hopes that my flageolet will get stronger and not so strained. Is this what I should be doing or is there something else I should do?

    A few days ago I discovered this register and I've been experimenting with it. It does increase the upper limit of my register from a D5 up to an A5, but what I've noticed is that I can't keep it up for too long. After a while my voice starts to crack a lot and I'm no longer able to hit pitches that I could reach when I started messing around with it. To some degree it also affects the quality of the rest of my range. It doesn't hurt or anything, but it feels like I've been singing non-stop to the point my voice has started to wear out. This doesn't happen if stick to falsetto/chest voice. I must be doing something wrong when I go into flageolet but I can't figure out what it is. Any ideas?

    • @joshuaalfred8307

      I have a similar problem, but I think it has to do with added tension. I definitely feel places in my neck and jaw tense up when doing flageolet. Working to remove this which will hopefully bring more endurance.

    • @wakdoj
      @wakdoj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think you're still in head voice area. You don't switch to flageolet. Stretching it will damage your larynx.
      or you've switched but like in sports your muscles need time to be comfortable.

    • @chengliklik
      @chengliklik 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been facing the same issue! I'm guessing it's just like an athlete: frequent workout and pushing the limit (in our case, we are trying to reach those high notes that is on the verge of what our vocal cords can produce).
      Now I cannot assure you since I'm not 100% sure if what I'm doing is flageolet or just the good ol' neck tension, but I suggest letting your voice rest after each workout session.

      Hi Camilo! You can increase your Flageolet, but it takes time and patience so just keep at it! Keep your embouchure (mouth shape) very tiny and keep the phonation very gentle. Try OO(as in boot) and EE (as in beet) vowels. You can also try putting an H at the beginning (HOO for example) or a G. And try it on a descending scale. These are just some ideas! Keep at it! -NYVC

    Hi Justin I am rephrasing a previous question. I am tenor. I’ve noticed that when I am practice using flageolet that there are days where it is easier for me to use and other days where it’s kind of like I’ve “hit the ceiling”. Is this normal? Normally I can use it and even add vibrato and sing melodies with it. But then there are days where I can’t use it as fluidly or even at all. Thank you for responding to me!

    • @NewYorkVocalCoaching
      @NewYorkVocalCoaching  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's totally normal for the voice to change from day to day like this. Try keeping note of different things that are maybe affecting it. How much sleep did you get? Are you fully hydrated? Have you been doing a lot of touch vocal technique? Singing with any bad technique? Is the air dry? What did you eat? Are you stressed? All sort of things affect our bodies and our voice is included in that. :) -NYVC

    • @HappyPupx
      @HappyPupx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i will keep it simple so you can easily understand vocal registration. It goes like this from your lowest note to your highest note:
      Vocal Fry->(1st bridge of your voice where your chest drop to fry and growl area)->Chest Register->(2nd bridge, usually at E4, F4, F#4 for male and A4,Bb4, B4 for female; your mix should begin from these notes to connect to your head voice)->Head, Falsetto Register (Reinforced Falsetto and mix still lie in this registration)->(3d brigde where your voice switch again to the Flageolet/Whistle area, usually E5,F5,F#5 for male and A5,Bb5,B5 for female)->Flageolet/Whistle Register.
      But remember that the above is general for everyone, so it could be very different for you and vocal registers can be blended into each other without you even noticed so don't be confused like I can reach A5, B5 with my head voice/falsetto why i don't "switch" or "break" during E5->F#5 I've mentioned above. If that the case, try to let your voice go freely without any tension or compression and natural as you sing higher and then you will experience the "switch" of your voice
