      Chin Shaw.
      The fact that your nose itches during lip thrills, or even if you're just humming the tune, shows that you're going it 100% correctly. Well done.

    These lip trills really work! I learned this a few years ago and after warming up with trills, my range increase quite a bit very quickly....like in a few days. It was almost immediate! My range is much higher and now I don't have to strain, even though at times I fall back into that "pushing" mode..I quickly recognize my mistake and relax.

      These guys ALL OF THEM are all recycling Seth Riggs "singing for the stars" methods.
      Be careful you can hurt or destroy your voice with these exercises. Go slow, rest in between, drink lots of water. Don't ever strain or push.

      The use here tells you that Jenny's experience tells her that a African-centered person doesn't speak clearly and concisely so hearing this chap speak went against her norm. Hopefully she'll open up and drop that stereotype (usually forced on folks via the media). Of course i could be wrong and she's really a bigot and said what she said tongue in cheek, LOL (only she knows)

    I love this guy. It works!!!! Holy Moley Pepperoni Rigatoni Bellone Phony Macaroni Peppers and Pasta with meatballs on a plate! I hit a high B! he is right. when you do trills correctly without straining, the note you trill gives you a good idea of what a higher note should sound like when singing it healthily. Just don't try to hit them too much, it could tire out your voice even if your not straining. Do them everyday for a warm up and I am sure those higher notes will be easier to come by and you will have a much fuller sound as well. Thanks dude!

      The reason why screaming actually works (in some cases) to get those high notes is because when you scream (properly) your voice is more supported then when you sing normally, so just sing normally with more support.

    I've been working on a recording the past few days and I'm using a rock-style voice (I know that sounds cheesy) and I'm just half a step away from reaching the note I want.

    Man, what a difference in just a single day! Even singing over a broad range, I can hit high notes like I did when I was much younger. I did what you suggested and just thought of the note, relaxed, and let my voice sing it. The more I relaxed, the easier it got. I also visualized my vocal cords getting thinner to hit those high notes. Thank you for posting this video!

    Just beginning to take singing seriously. Is it possible for someone to learn to do almost every range with practice?

    • @datboi_gee
      @datboi_gee 9 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Within minor limitations, yes. You'll have natural restrictions as to how high or low you can train your chest voice, for example, but then you've got a variety of other vocal registers that can hit notes beyond the limitations of one register. But yes, there is plenty of variety and a surprising amount of depth to what the human body and voice can accomplish.

    • @TheProxy2
      @TheProxy2 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gerald Wiseman i can reach very low voice like b1 but i can reach pretty high one like g4. Is that normal?

    • @datboi_gee
      @datboi_gee 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Assuming you're not incuding pure head voice or falsetto, I would assume so. I'm not the most experienced vocalist but here's what I do know: a male with a baritone voice is often able to feign the tone of their chest voice all the way into the tenor range. This would mean that, if you are in fact a baritone, you've already got the capacity to easily hit a low note in the bass range while also being able to stretch up past the comfort zone for that particular vocal type. I've been informed that it's something that all people within that vocal range can do, but the fourth octave (and the development of the mixed vocal tone) comes easier to some more than others. It's definitely within the realm of possibility that you're naturally gifted. Alternatively, if you're switching to falsetto up into the 4th octave, that's totally normal aswell.

    • @TheProxy2
      @TheProxy2 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gerald Wiseman i dont actually know the difference between mixed and head voice but yeah, i can still reach g4 without falsetto. And because im a bass in my acapella group i always sing low so i can reach all the way to b1. Or even a1 if lucky. Im just wondering, if i can somehow train to sing like a tenor haha

    • @datboi_gee
      @datboi_gee 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You definitely can! There are a variety of instructors online, and the best (free) vocal coach (in my opinion) has a TH-cam channel called New York Vocal Coaching. The man has well over 100 topics covered (and each vid is less than 5 minutes) for free and always includes a strength building exercise. I'd suggest starting by looking at the explanation of the mix voice as that will be what opens up your vocal range and tones the most. Good luck to you mate.

    Mr. Burnley, thanks for sharing. First I'd like to apologize for the cruel things people have said to you. Know that many people who are interested in improving their singing have been helped by you. I pray that your spirit will be protected from the harsh words. I believe you are on to something, the idea that a kind of auditory visualization happens in the mind and the musician leaves it to the subconscious mind and body (at least in part) to figure out how to actualize it. I believe this is a real possibility of what goes on. Also, the part about relaxation. I notice that really good athletes like runners seem to have this even when running fast.

      Me neither! I'm in a large community choir where the director will ask the singers to do some of those dang things and I find myself able to blurt for maybe 5 seconds before I can't anymore. Like the teacher here says, well, maybe that's just the way our bodies are built.

    i'm a guy 17 years old and i have 5 octave vocal range when i sing in whistle register some very high notes like F7,G7..... sometimes i sing them easily and pure , sometimes i sing them hardly and unclear , i don't know why if you have the answer of how can i always sing them easily and pure please let me know

    • @joelgarcia3907
      @joelgarcia3907 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      are you singing your mid and higher notes like E5 (most divas love this note) in a heavier mix or lighter falsetto or head? If you do full mix and head, your whistle and falsetto will not always come because you already connected your register. Once they are connected, it becomes a more conscious effort to break your voice into a whistle. I belt and mix up to B6 and I let go of my G7 because it's not as useful as it is more show than an emotional tool. (sorry I don't have any belting songs posted. I dont like to post my real work yet :).

      To be consistent, you've got to eliminate dairy products and foods with modified corn starch. These foods will cause a thicker mucous that messes up your singing. This used to be common knowledge amongst pro singers. Try it, and you will be a believer.

      There's a gap in your Segundo passagio. It's basically the gap between the chest voice and falsetto. Try to smooth that over with scales and sirens. That generally helps to connect your ranges.

      Your bones vibrate when you sing, adding bass to your voice (at least, you hear your voice as having more bass). When you sing softly, it doesn't effect you as much. Also, very few people sing loudly, it's mostly an illusion due to the singer trying to look more emotional

    I do follow your instructions but my throat hurts whenever I try to sing high.... any advice??

    • @DrRhyhm
      @DrRhyhm 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay it's all in your brains, you DO NOT sing from your throat but your diaphragm.What do I mean by that? Your throat and other cavities in your head are just place of resonance you relax every muscle in your throat. You control the airflow from your stomach(diaphragm). Your throat basically just a pass-through, it should be completaly relaxed. It's easier said than done I know, but keep in mind everything is in your head, change the way you think about those notes and how to reach them. For example you should reaching every note with the same ease as the lowes. Don't think about notes as high and low, image that high note just the same a low note in your head. Remember your push the air from your stomach and that where you inhale also. Sing like you speak!

    • @EmelieObi
      @EmelieObi 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dr.Rhy†hm when I try to sing classically I find it difficult to reach the high notes that I'm able to reach with my pop voice. is there anything I can do?

    • @DrRhyhm
      @DrRhyhm 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emelieh Obi actually i had the same strugle. You have to relax your throat and open up your soft palate well how you do that there are different methods. What helped me is that i stood before the mirror watched my soft palate and figuring out how to raise it, putting my fingers judt under my ear to where the jaw joint is when open my mouth helped me, you will see when your soft palate raised because that little uvula disappeared if you got that one try to keep it from that you do nothing in your throat, you work the notes nd every pitch from your stomach. imagine the diaphragm as your engine and you do everything from that, your only raised your palate to let it resonate the sound.

    Interesting! Shorter and smaller vocal folds as you get higher. I don't think so. Maybe the lower you go, the get shorter and perhaps thicker they become. It is a bit more involved than this I'm afraid but if it works for you, go for it.

    To reach those higher notes breath from around your belly and diaphragm.. do not allow your shoulders to move or your neck to tense up... stay relax and push down almost like you're pooping... and push down by flexing and moving your diaphragm downward and yawn the notes out to keep your throat open
