  • When I originally played this run, I believed it was the world record score. But, apparently there is an external steam leader board (that I was not aware of at all) that has higher scores. The game makes no mention of this at all. So I was wrong in thinking that I had the WR score, but did not realize it when I was playing. No one else has released videos with scores higher than mine, so I had no idea these scores existed. Obviously this is really embarrassing for me, but whatever I was wrong and did not know these score existed when I played.
    Chat wasn't on the overlay during the run, but fixed it in post :-)

    Congrats! After all of the work that you put into promoting the shmups scene, getting the discord together and getting events like this going, it's awesome to see this work out for you. Shmup Slam 2 was an excellent event by all accounts, it was very well planned and executed and as a result it exposed more people to the amazing shmup sub genre of the retro gaming hobby scene. Well done, thanks again for all of the work and the great content that has been produced as a result of it.

    This run was lit. WR pace to stage 4, then doing stage 5 perfectly to get the WR. Couldn't ask for a better start to Shmup Slam than this.
    Thanks for organising the event Mark! It was my first time actively participating in Twitch chat and interacting with the shmup community at large. The runs were stunning, the chat was funny, and the commentary was informative. I couldn't ask for more even if I wanted to.
    Well, unless you are willing to do a Shmup Slam 2.5 in the later half of the year. People seem to be keen on seeing that.
    And of course, congrats on WR and a successful Shmup Slam!
    Ah by the way; I'm not too sure how much buffer time you catered between runs for set up, but seeing how the schedule dragged on it might be a good idea to give 15min set up time between runs for Shmup Slam 3.
    Another suggestion is to include the name of the game that is being played, the runners and maybe the commentators too in the layout. And for the set up scene, the next game and its runner(s).
    Will you be uploading all of the other runs to TH-cam?

      Thanks for tuning in man! Those are all great suggestions! I'll definitely implement them in Slam 3! And yes, as I'm sure your poor sub box has shown you ha, I have uploaded all the other runs to youtube :-)

    Im really looking for the next Shmup Slam. Seriously, I loved the whole event. Also looking forward to more videos, and you playing Progear at some point (since I saw you interested in it during the run) haha. Keep up the awesome work dude!

    A slam for the ages.... That was an epic start to the slam, and with the commentary while playing, wow, congrats! Viewership count seemed good, was it up from the first slam? Will there be a Summer Slam?

    • @TheElectricUnderground
      @TheElectricUnderground  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes, slam 1 was about 100 views, so this was about triple the views! No summer slam, but will be doing some live stuff this summer :-) Slam 3 will likely (though not be set in stone), be this winter.

    I have a Question. How were you able to enter the Trance Mode manually? I can't find the option to enter it manually in spirit mode, it is always automaticly

    • @TheElectricUnderground
      @TheElectricUnderground  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's sort of hidden in the menu somewhere, like during ship selection I think.

  • @JDHD932

    What does SCN Relative movement style mean in settings of game?

    • @TheElectricUnderground
      @TheElectricUnderground  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh that means your movement rotates with your screen slip. Basically if you are playing on a monitor, keep it off. If you are playing on switch handheld and are physically turning your switch, turn it on :-)

    • @JDHD932
      @JDHD932 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheElectricUnderground so it’s like gyro movement in a way? I keep my handheld pretty still but I did leave it on SCN relative n plays very well. Thx

    • @russellgolden7546
      @russellgolden7546 ปีที่แล้ว

      It rotates your controls on a vertical layout so pressing up moves the ship left (which is up on the screen) so you can play in full screen vertical without rotation your monitor or hold the Switch vertically. No gyros.

    Great run but can you clarify something?.. you said the run was done live but that commentary was seemingly spoken over a previous replay as you predicted several things that were about to happen and sounded totally relaxed at the hypest moment . I’m not trying to hate, I think you are great but can you clarify?.

    • @DevourerofMemes
      @DevourerofMemes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He just predicts patterns that are deterministic, this is what happens when you memorize any pattern in any game that isn't randomized.

    • @nerothos
      @nerothos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He definitely wasn't relaxed while breaking the WR during the final boss lmao. I think it's just that he's played the game so much that he already knows most of what's going to happen. If you watch Gus' Mushi Futari run on GDQ it's pretty clearly the same thing (though he's not commentating). You can tell that a lot of stuff that looks almost impossible is incredibly well-rehearsed and, while it leaves no room for error, is also relatively simple to execute once you have the muscle memory down.

      @@neontetra1000 I really wonder if you are trolling or not. This run was done live. If you actually attented the event, you would know, the hand cam was rolling since the beginning even when Mark was doing the set up before the run. Maybe you should watch Mark's Twitch channel when he streams, this way you would know that he always comment this way instead of saying such absurdities.

    • @neontetra1000
      @neontetra1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Juju Kenobi Hi , I did attend the event. I watched it live and thought at the time it seemed odd that his commentary was so relaxed as if his mind was not even focusing on the game . There is a chance I have jumped to conclusions so I will withdraw my comment but something seems extremely unnatural to me about that commentary and the timing cues.

    • @neontetra1000
      @neontetra1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kiwi No I don’t disbelieve any of the other runs , I just get a very strong feeling that the WR run was recorded previously the night before and played back on stream. I have said, I may be wrong so I withdrew my post with a blatant allegation but for mark to sit there telling stories about this and that with half his mind on the job and while casually destroying a “ world record “ run with no sign of nerves seems highly unusual. I have followed mark for a Long time and do not wish to troll him, I was hesitant in bringing up my feelings but something just feels off to me. That’s all I’ll say on the matter and I wish him nothing but the best of luck.
