Please visit Kailasa Temple at Ellora Caves in Maharashtra India. It's considered greatest architecture in history of mankind, because the way it was built seems unbelievable for even today’s time. The temple was built at least 1300 years ago. No stone or nothing was added they carved a mammoth Granite rock/mountain with intricate details. The Kailasa Temple is notable for its vertical excavation-carvers started at the top of the original rock and excavated downward. At least 400000 tonnes of stones have been removed in the process. About 7000 workers and their future generations worked for 135 years. One small mistake and you have to rebuild the whole temple because it's carved into the rock without adding anything, that too up to down.

Loving your India vlog series so far. Don't know how long you plan to be in India or where all you plan to visit, but one thing you would definately notice is that each state of India has its own unique culture, food and natural beauty. In fact, India is typically clustered by the geographical zones - North, East, West, South, Central and North East. Each of these regional zones will offer something unique for you to see and experience. That is the beauty of India - it's cultural diversity that constantly changes as one travels 100km in any direction.
Wishing you both a wonderful time and hope you get to see all what India has to offer, be it in this trip or any future trips.

Was just there last week and was looking for a vlog which highlighted the incredible experience the way I saw it. Yours has been the best I've found so thank you! And amazing job putting it together!!
It pains me to say it, but I was one of the idiots who fell victim to both a guide and photographer scam which ended up costing me an absurd amount of money. Granted, I was by myself -- so the idea of having someone else take nice pics of me at Taj was worthwhile, but you cannot believe what they got from me $$-wise. Still, the beauty of the site is a forever memory now, and I agree the mosque on the west side is an absolute wonder all by itself. I also was amazed by the courtyard outside the main entryway which was surrounded by four perfectly aligned gates in each direction. The precision of everything there is incredible....

Yes, the tomb's placement is asymmetrical. If you notice, Mumtaz's tomb is dead center inside the mausoleum, it is Shah Jahan whose tomb seems to be rather out of place and asymmetrical. It is because he was not supposed to be buried there. He had planned an exact replica of the Taj Mahal to be built on the opposite Bank of the Yamuna River(the one in your video) where he wished to be buried upon his death and this Taj Mahal 2 was supposed to be built completely out of Black Granite. There were supposed to be two of these super structures, the white and the black Taj Mahal contrasting one another on either bank of the Yamuna River. But before he could commence work on the second building, his son Aurangzeb ran a coup and overthrew his father and imprisoned him at the Agra Fort where he eventually died and was finally buried next to Mumtaz in the mausoleum of the Taj, hence the asymmetry.
Hope you guys had an amazing time! Much love❤️

ancient India used to have lot of excellent architectures better than these ones. during Islamic rule in India especially in Mughal period about 47000 temples and several other structures were destroyed. others were demolished by the European rulers. that's why India hardly has any ancient structures left in North India. however there are quite a lot of them in South India especially states of Karnataka and Tamilnadu.

@nicoleandmico Hi Nicole & Mico, thank you for the great India vlogs! I’d love to know how you deal with cellular data coverage while in different countries, as well as having a local phone number when it's needed? (Even though great, we’ve found that Google Fi won't work for us as Americans traveling full-time internationally, because we are not going back to the USA regularly, which Google requires.) Relying on Wifi doesn't seem ideal, as Wifi in an Airbnb or hotel may be ok, but what about using maps for navigation when out and about and not on Wifi, etc? Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Did you guys go to the Red Fort? That's a Palace built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar (r. 1556-1605), the grandfather of Shah Jahan who built the Taj Mahal. It's nearby. There is also Humayun"s tomb. This is the Emperor Humayun (r. 1530- 1540; 1556), the father of the Emperor Akbar, great grandfather of Shah Jahan.

The tombs on top are empty and the real tombs are buried underneath the Taj Mahal ...where they have secret paths to go underground in catacombs which is sealed for tourist as the place is very fragile but archeologist are allowed for studies.

About the Mughals. They were descended from the Mongols. They invaded India from Afghanistan in 1526 capturing Delhi. They ruled till 1856 when the last Emperor, Bahadur Shah II was forced to abdicate by the British following the Sepoy Mutiny against British colonial rule.

Tamerlane and Genghis Khan are also related. Both are descendants of Kaidu, ancestor of the Khamag Mongol confederation in Mongolia who lived in the 9th century.

You should visit kailasa temple in Maharashtra you will be amazed then compare Taj Mahal to that temple taj Mahal is no where close to the that you should visit southern part of India there are magnificent temples which are very older and beautiful than taj mahal Architecture of those temples can't be matched

The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (r. 1628-1658) for his favourite wife, Mum Taz Mahal, who bore him 16 children and who died in childbirth. He commissioned 40,000 workers to build it. It used to look much grander as it's walls was studded with diamonds, which were stripped in 1740s by the Iranian Nader Shah (r. 1736-1747) when he invaded Agra.

The Taj is actually made of red sandstone, faced with marble. Google photos of Taj from a drone: you'll see that the roof (except the parts you can see from the ground) is completely of unfaced sandstone.

Welcome 😄 Great to have u in India.
Taj Mahal is Muslim architecture & the picture u shown is akshardham which is a Hindu temple.
It's kind of disrespectful when u say things like crazy to idols in temple.

    • @nicoleandmico

in your future visit of India please visit explore more of South India. if you visit state of Tamil Nadu you will see lots of exceptional architecture of unbelievable beauty thousands of years old made of granite rocks been through invasions, natural calamities and still standing. it is a great shame that those things India should be proud about have been kept secret from the Indians themselves and also the outside world. now that because of internet Indians who are really interested in knowing have started knowing how rich past India at had.
