There are a lot of tutorials on TH-cam, but there are very few for Dilect Modeling. I am really learning a lot from this series. Thank you!!

Unfortunately you are right. For Houdini that content didn't exist. That's why I decided to do it. I am glad it's helping you.

Hey. I'm at 4min in the video, about the selection problem you're having, I don't know if you solve it later on, but it's because the object node has it's "selectable" button turned off. That's the green part on the left of the node.

Oooooh, it's beyond me how I didn't figure that out. Now I have to go back and see how did I missed it. I did resolve it by simply copy pasting nodes from one geo node to another. 😄

@@polymarvels That's the beauty of nodal workflow ! Always a few ways to solve problems 👍

Thank you for the tutorial! I am MODO user, and modelling in Houdini looks so complicated for me. I do use Houdini for other purposes so far. Could you please explain how do you manage with the numbers? I mean, in 99% I have a real numbers in cm, mm. And here, in Houdini it confuses me so much. What if you need to know dimensions of many different areas of your model and be sure they are correct.

Your welcome. Now, Houdini metrics are not much different. By default unit of 1 is equal to 1 meter. So if you see value of 1 in one of the value fields, e.g. Height, that means something has a height of 1 meter. Naturally then,0.1 would be 10cm and 0.01 would be 1cm. There is a way to change default metrics from meters to centimeters in the preferences settings.

Additionally you can use Ruler from the Labs toolset in conjunction with Snapping and measure things to check the values.

@@polymarvels Thanks for your answer. I think it was confused because it looks like in Houdini every single parameter is "0" or "1" :) Ruler is a good idea but still, it is very far from a fast and effecient workflow.

Well, I guess it depends on what you wanna do. For me it really doesn't matter as I dont have to be super precise for anything I do. I juat go in and do stuff. But if you need to be super precise, then I guess Houdini is not for you.

Man why don't you learn first and teach afterwards

@@polymarvels Learn how to construct a tutorial, do your homework before you commit and solve all your little problems before you start, instead of continuously experimenting live on line. Listen to constructive criticism instead of the bravo's of absolute beginners

@@constantineskliris I still don't understand your point really. You just came here to crap on things I do without giving any serious pointer. You can always go elsewhere and learn there and don't complain when someone doing something for free. I also think you totally missed the point of my tutorials. Maybe you should show me how to do things?
Also, I just started so I am not sure how can you expect me to make perfect tutorials without practice. Especially when my time is limited.

@@polymarvels You know something my friend, your absolutely right I go around craping on people cause I've got nothing else to do, but this is how you want to see it. I came to your channel hoping that I will learn something, instead I came across somebody that is pressing buttons hopping that it will be ok next time

@@constantineskliris I am sure you are not up to that and I always try to listen to a constrictive feedback, but your first comment was nothing like that, so what do you expect from me? I always try to improve, and recording tutorials is not something I am not good at, and I have no fear to admit it. Its simply a matter of practice, so if I don't do it, Ill never be better. So either you go with it or you don't.
What you could have done to help me is to actually say what exactly you had issue with, what was not clear, what you would like to see for me to improve and so on. If that was the case, then I would definitely accept the critique and try to improve. So you should also take my advice when you comment on someones video and try not to go for the first comment with ' Man why don't you learn first and teach afterwards ' I can assure you that doesnt help anyone. :)
