3" over 2 1/2" from edge of fender. Appreciate the advice. Having the same issue. I'm having to replace the boots also however. Hope you have invested in a good pair of snap ring pliers for the next time and when you need boots. I would like to add the 3 1/2" distance from the locking screw shaft does work however anyone that only wants one hole and perfect alignment to the bolt 3" over and 2 1/2" from fender lip is perfect.
I just replaced my broken fan and your video was a big help. Took about two hours with removing both snap rings. I drilled an 1 1/4 hole at 3 1/2 inches over and it worked perfectly. A rubber plug and it looks factory. Thanks again

I bought the BXPanded under armour for $309.00 Canadian. Gives me the peace of mind when I am in the bush. I enjoyed the video as it was very instructional. I have watched Tyler's videos before and found them very informative also. Take care from Petawawa, Ontario. PS: the bugs are crazy up here.
I have a question about the under armor…. Does it have to be removed to put the MMM on? I thought I heard that and I don’t want added steps for the mower setup.

@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead The under armour comes off in about 10 seconds. You use the mower levers to raise it up. I do not have a mower so I do not need to remove it. When I put the snow blower on I will have to remove it. It has two bolts that you attach to two holes that are already in the frame. The bolts are for the plate to go onto and then you hook the mower levers to the back of the plate, which has two holes in it. If you look at some of the videos on the BXexpanded under armour installation it will be come clear as to what I am saying.

I have the twin brother to your bx23$ I adopted it from Davis equipment about the same time you got yours, I sure hope my fan stays intact, it’s good to know some that knows how to fix it, love your new garage.
I hope yours is ok too! I actually have to run mine up to David Equipment later this week to have the Quick-tach on the loader switches out. Mine has leaked for ages and they said it is covered under a bulletin so I’m trying to get everything caught up so I can be without it for a few days. Thanks for watching! Perfect job. I purchased the BXpanded under armour and it arrived before my BX did. Glad I have it. I also saw 3D printer plans for a split fan that allows for easier replacement, but I don't trust 3D filament for long term exposure to elements. Thanks for sharing. Great how to.
Thanks, Ross! I saw that split fan idea too. I’m not sure that it would save enough effort to make it worth trying. I was pretty happy with this method. Would have been a little happier if I had drilled the hole in the right spot the first time. 😂. Thanks for watching!
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead I agree. 3D printing is not super strong and is biodegradable... So not great for tractor undersides... You won't notice the extra hole cover. :)
I seen a new 3d printer online it can make things out of metal , im afraid to ask what that printer costs , but i would like to find someone that i can send a new fan too and have them build it the way it should have been built ?? Any ideas ? I know it wont be cheap , but still ..
Great video Lucas! Yes sir, if you can fix it yourself, you are far better off! I don`t trust anyone else to do the job right, whether its my tractors, or my cars.
I also hate having to wait and be at the mercy of someone else. I find it is usually easier to just do it myself and get on with my life. 😂👍👊

I put Bro-Tek on both my BXs as I use MMM and worked better for me; both are good. The BX2200 is a breeze, but not later models. Paul and Kathy Short at Specialty Repairs Custom Mods have a lot of very useful accessories for the BX; cannot beat the quality

There`s nothing worse than taking your tractor or automobile somewhere to have it worked on, and they put some jackwagon on the job that doesn`t care about your tractor or automobile. Several times my vehicles have come back to me worse running condition than when i took them in to be repaired. Lucky for you, (and myself), you can do your own work. I try to not ever let anyone else touch my vehicles.

Hi Lucas Great job getting the fan replacement handled.
I'm curious have you seen the lift setup that "Tractor Time With Tim" has. He has cross panels that connect to his lift arms, then you just drive the tractor wheels onto the front & rear arms. It supports the entire tractor by the wheels and should work for any width or length tractor .
You sould be able to get that type of setup for your lift. Tim has a two post lift too. They use that system for lawn mowers, UTV's, Golf Carts, tractors, etc. The part/ assembly you want is called the "Turf Rail" that adapts to many brands of 2 post lifts.

1.5 hours isn't bad at all! Drilling a hole in my tractor like that would have been hard for me to do! lol How hard was getting the ball bearings back in? Looke like a fun time! nice job!
Drilling the first hole didn’t bother me as much as drilling the second one. 😂 The ball bearings were pretty simple. I just greased them heavy enough that they stuck in place. Thanks for watching!

So that part is really straightforward, if I remember right, I just filled the holes with grease and stuck the ball bearings in the grease and that held them in. I’m not sure how that part missed being documented. 🤷🏼♂️. Sometimes it is hard to film and work…especially when I’m trying to figure it out as I go. Lol

Could the fan blade be split and just bolt the 2 halves togerther when its in place?
Yes, some have done that. I have changed two and this process is t too bad. I just go for the whole thing…
Just curious, do you think you really need to disassemble the front joint or would taking out that spacer give enough room to drop the prop shaft and pull it forward?
I can’t remember for certain, but if you can get that spacer out without removing the snap ring and bearings then I think it would work. I just can’t remember if you can get that spacer out without taking the bearing apart…

Great video. Wondering while watching the front shaft removal portion if the engine is mounted on marshmallows for engine mounts!? (LOL, it seemed to move a LOT based on the oil pan). Are you planning to do a fluid change now as well? You said you'd link to source video. I'll do a search, just reminding you if you want to add it now.
Thanks for the reminder! Just updated! I was surprised about how much the engine moved as well. As information, I did a fluid/filter change just about 25 hours ago and it smells ok. I don’t think I’m going to change it…
Ugh….factory doesn’t know what never seize is….took me 2hrs and a lot penetrating oil etc to get the fitting off of the HST shaft. Once off I can see so much rust on the shaft and in the fitting…ugh.

So i just finished this hange out today and it was a pain in the ass. However after i was done i started it up. I then found a pile of broken metal pieces under my tractor and have no idea what theg possibly could be... Any ideas?
😳 No, not really. Like what? Chunks of cast? Sheet Metal? Painted grey? Run, drive and operate ok?
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead They are chunks of cast metal off of the part behind the fan.... I need to figure out if I can still operate it like this or does it need to be repaired which wont be cheap...

I don’t know the models well enough to answer that. I do know that the process is a little more in depth for some models, but I only know the process for the one I own. Best of luck!
Any chance the warranty would cover this? I feel like kubota should put a shield like the BXpandid sells stock considering what a pain it is to replace.
I think KTAC would. I never even asked about warranty. I figured I could change it easy enough and not have to be without my tractor so that is the route I went…
@Peek's Peak Hobby Homestead unfortunately I opted out of KTAC and just put it on my home insurance which thinking back was not a great idea.
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead I called this morning. The warranty does not cover it due to it being cause by a stick. Kind of figured that, and they said the repair would be $600 lol. Think Ill just do it myself

My BX25D does not have the crank hub spacer so it appears it has to come completly apart, but thanks anyway, bummer

@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead Here goes will try again :) I have a ATD set local automotive ordered in , its the 915 12 pc set on amazon. Auto parts store was cheaper I just don't remember how much these are probably close to 10 years old. I've rebuilt a couple of transmissions these are a must.

I tried to do my HST Fan this weekend... I have a 2008 BX24... I did the hole and was able to access the bolt on the rear by the fan... unfortunately in 2008 they had not started using that spacer up front that you can take out... so I'm not sure how to get that drive line out...
if anyone has a 2008 or knows the trick please let me know... :(
Man, I hate to hear that. I didn’t know, but apparently on some models the motor has to be take loose to get it out. I’m sure that is frustrating! Sorry I couldn’t be more help. Hopefully someone will comment who knows. You might also join a BX group on FB and ask there.

I did all my other maintenance while I was at it... changed HST oil & filter... cleaned the HST filter screen... changed engine oil & filter... changed fuel filters... changed the front gear oil... greased all my zerts... and bumped up my hydraulic pressure... overall a good weekend... :)

I had to do this on my BX25 years ago. It was a major pain. I didn’t know about any time saving tricks. I had to almost disassemble my tractor. For something to easy to break, there is no excuse for it being so difficult to access and change. That’s the only complaint I ever had about my BX when I owned it. Other than that it was an awesome little tractor.
