oh me oh my... i have gone through many frustrating vegan cookie failures.. always too cakey, too hard, too thick, too undercooked, or overcooked. it's truly a science. somehow all of the other recipes for a classic choco chip cookie just did not turn out right or consistent! i'm so glad i found your recipe because it's so perfect! i just had to keep them in the oven a bit longer because they were much too raw at even 11 minutes (probably the oven). im so happy and feeling accomplished that the cookies spread really well and are chewy. they are a hit with the vegan BF who is the reason why i cooke/bake vegan hehe. thank you!!!!
these were so good! however i used a richer and darker chocolate which made it a bit less sweet, when i topped it of with salt it binded it all together and made it ultimately better!!
Yes you can try! I've tried olive oil before (but replaced the milk with an egg). Just make sure you chill the dough to keep it from spreading too much. Let me know how it works!!
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial Hello! I just made them, they're hot from the hoven #yummy . So, I used Corn Oil (did not have peanut as I thought) and water instead of the milk and they are good :) I chilled them for 2 hours and now after baked I am letting them cool complety, because if not, it will break and crumble. My tip to anyone wanting to make with other type of oil is to watch out carefully, because it tends to burn on the edges and do not go upper than 180 degrees C. ~ Thank you for the recipie #veaganbaking

Hi sorry for the late reply! These last about a week stored properly. To keep them soft you can store with a slice of bread if you think they are getting hard.
I did use jaggery powder, but made the cookies without getting your reply so i did not pre heat the oven, and maybe thats y my cookies didn’t firm up, they are still chewy from all sides but the taste is delicious 😍❤️
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial hi, I made it just now and it was the best thing ever!!! I didn’t see your comment until now but they are the best!! I reduce the sugar to a little, replaced some with stevia, I was in a hurry so I froze it for about 30 mins. When I baked it was not flat, but it was soo good. It’s more like a subway cookie and less chewy cookie!! 10/10 would love to send you a pic
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial hey Vedika! Its me again!! When I tried the recipe, cookies did not flatten as yours! The cookies spread very little. . Also, I had put choco chips and not choco chunks and these are the spoil sport? I chilled the dough for 2 Hrs and baked them in the preheated oven (360F), straight after taking our of the fridge. Any clue?
I would melt the butter! When you chill the cookie dough it will work just fine. You can also use soft butter at RT but melting it yields a chewier cookie :)
So I made these cookies today. Mine did not spread like that but they were still okay. What I will say is that, you will have to add more Vanilla and Salt to the mixture in order for the cookie to taste well. I would say to use her measurements for everything else but use about 1 tablespoon of Vanilla and 1 tablespoon salt. Since this recipe has no butter, egg, or cow’s milk, you will have to rely heavily on the vanilla and salt for flavor because the rest of the ingredients would most likely be absent of flavor. Unless you use the unrefined coconut oil or a vanilla flavored milk. The sugar will provide a flavor of sugar but not a flavor of a cookie. However, I added more vanilla and salt after the mix was chill because I baked a third of it and then tasted it and then determined that it needed more.
I hope no one does this as that is wayy too much salt and vanilla for this amount of batter and would surely ruin it. These weird ideas about veganism are untrue. Sugar and chocolate still taste like sugar and chocolate , plant milk is a perfect substitute for cow secretions , and the idea that it would be "most likely absent of flavor" is very wrong. The recipe as shown in the video is perfect.
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial yes hun, thank you soo soo much, they came out fantastic ..I also added in some crunchy peanut butter and almond flour in the mix. They were delicious!!! Thank you so very much..😉😁
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial they were still very delicious! But they did not flatten out at all like yours. Only things i can think of that could've caused it was using almond milk- vanilla, and I didn't let the coconut oil cool down all the way. But I did let the dough chill for 2 hours
Yes- did you weigh this recipe in grams? or use cups? I think maybe your dry to wet ratio might have been a tad bit off (meaning more flour than fat) which results in a thicker cookie. Either way I hope the taste was nice!
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial, I figured that. I converted the items into cups since I did not have a weigher. If I were to add more coconut oil, it will make it more flat? And what if I decrease the amount of baking soda?
@@kellgolden6426 The amount is also listed in cups for your convenience! and I would just decrease the amount of flour by 1-2 tbsp and see how it works, not increase any of the other amounts!

2 quick questions-why do my cookies become flat in the oven and how can I get crispy cookies?
You need to use baking powder to get a rise from your bake
Crispy cookies = increase the bake time by 1-2 minutes. Why they become flat: the fat and baking soda cause them to spread!
@@HotChocolateHitsOfficial Thanks for replying. But how do I fix the issue from not allowing my cookies to become as 1flat pancake in the oven 😥
