    The Lagom Bush Knife just feels right in the hand. An excellent blade.

    I carry and carve with a L.T. Wright Boattail. Absolutely adore it. It is relatively similar to your Lagom.

    You know what? Your channel is sooooo underrated!! I love the content! It's really a legit bushcraft channel unlike others that claim to be bushcrafters and yet they probably doesn't even know how to make and use a bowdrill

    I just ordered mine 19 minutes ago after a year of staring at it, researching online and watching videos. Especially yours. Thank you.

      I am very happy to hear that you ordered one, my friend! I am very flattered that I could be of some assistance and do this knife justice in my videos. All I wanted to do in the videos was convey just how awesome this knife is. I don't blame you for staring, as I still just sit and stare at mine. The handle is so great and the 01 tool steel and Scandi grind are absolutely outstanding. When is it due to arrive? Please let me know your initial thoughts as soon as you get it! -Dave

    Love your channel. I purchased both the lagom and the council woodcraft axe off your reviews. Thanks! And don’t take this the wrong way, you remind me of Mr Rogers in the woods! Very calm and pleasant. Love the channel.

      Thank you for watching both times, my friend! I really appreciate the kind words! I would consider myself "decent at best" with the bow drill set..haha! Many more failures than successes but I try to not let the pieces of wood defeat me. Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you! -Dave

    I agree about making a bow drill set to test a knife as it hits most of the major knife woodcraft jobs. The knife looks great. I was checking into it so was glad to find this video in my search. Thumbs up!

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, sir! Even though my bow drill sets aren't successful most of the time (lol), they are an excellent way to test all aspects of a knife! I love making them! You would absolutely love this knife, my friend! My absolute favorite! Nice to hear from you, brother ! -Dave

    The Lagom knife is out of my reach but the blade shape isn't, I picked up a Cold Steel Finn Hawk for $19 on Amazon and its the poor mans Lagom. I've been using it everyday for a month or so, I gotta say its a must have for anyone who enjoys Mora's. I would love to see you try one out Dave, I think you would really like how it carves.

      Airik1111 Thanks for sharing. Newbie here. Been watching this channel and and attempting to learn how to strike a fire with feather stick or shavings. Having a hard time with just my hatchet. After a few videos here, realized I need a decent knife. The Finn Hawk looks just right for me. Will also be buying the Council Tool Boys axe seen on this channel. My first purchase was the Hardcore Hammers Supernaturalist hatchet. Felt a little silly afterward paying that much, though I do really like it. Trying to keep further tool purchases on the higher value for dollar side. Thanks again for sharing your high value find. 👍

    Good demonstration of how nice that knife can be used for a multitude of tasks. It doesn't look that beautiful but what I'm learning from you is the performance of a blade is all important. Thank you showing these things, the knife and bow drill efforts.

    Hello friend🙂 I saved up the money and they are setting a green micarta one aside for me when they restock😀🎉🎉🎉🎉 my uncle got the camp muk. The fit and finish on these LT Wright knives make the handles feel like smooth river stone.

      @HighCarbonSteelLove  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is great to hear, my friend! You are going to love the Lagom! I completely agree about LT Wright Knife handles - just right! How does your uncle like his Camp Muk? -Dave

    • @spider5001
      @spider5001 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      HighCarbonSteel Love He loves it! It is the closest to the design from what I have seen out there. Only a picture to go off of though lol. It's surprising small. It fits the hand perfect though. A2 steel💪🏻. The handle seems like it would be awkward but you once you put pressure on it you can get a lot of power. The only thing I didn't like is full flat grind. That is preference though. I like scandi. How do you keep your Lagom so clean? I live in coastal marsh lands so any tips to keep that O1 from rusting would be great! Sorry for the novel😂 Joe

    Thank you very much HighCarbonSteel Love for the time and effort you put into your video's. I took the time to go over your Lagom bush knife videos, and it helped a lot. on the sizing of the knife without touching the knife the best someone could. I ended up going with a orange handled G-10 one because I never want to lose this one if it gets miss placed. It is on the way right now and I am looking forward to having the little work horse in my line up of daily using knives.
    Cheers

    Say Heah Dave, I know the Lagoon is a great knife, because it's blade profile is similar to my 3V Skookum Bush Tool which is still one of my ALL time Fav's. I know LT makes great knives. Infact I have his GNS in 3V with the Coyote Black Mountain Handle, and he made my vintage Blind Horse Bushcrafter which I had the handle polished and made Flat with just the radious corners, Infact it looks like a High End Kephart, A Lil'tank. Dilly Dilly.,,.p

    Thank you for your review I've been considering this knife or the Kamrat but also something worth giving a shot but on your bowdrill fire it looked like you was pressing down really hard next time try not pressing as hard and letting it glide more it seems to work better for me personally the shavings it produces just seem a little bit more fine

    This knife is the only one that i have regrets about selling. Just felt perfect in the hand, and a very usable size. Im not a huge outdoors person though, and made the decision to just put the mora garberg into our go bags. Its a very capable knife, but definitley doesnt have the warmth and character of the lagom. I just “use” the garberg, but i really “enjoyed” the lagom

    Hey Dave , thanks again for another great vid 👍🏻 ! It looks like the forest is starting to come to life again 😄 , spring and fall are my two favorite seasons to be in the outdoors ! Awesome knife , LT Wright makes great blades I have a few of his designs , the Genisis , GNS , and the Patriot ! I like this knife you reviewed and have been considering on purchasing it but once again I'm stuck on the Lagoom or the Spyderco bushcrafter ? I almost pulled the trigger on the Spyderco but had saw your previous video on the Lagoom and I'm familiar with LT's work and his scandi grinds . In your opinion which blade do you like using for bushcraft for longer periods of time , the Lagoom or the Spyderco BC ? By the way I'm still in the process of getting my equipment to start my own TH-cam Chanel , time & money are the two obstacles in my path but I digress lol😝! Thanks again my friend , best regards 👍🏻🇺🇸✌🏻!

      Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, Brandon. Both are great, comfortable knives. I guess it all depends on handle preference. Good luck on starting your channel, my friend! -Dave

      Hmmm, interesting question. 2 different knives so its hard to say 'better', but I do use this one more. While the Spyderco is very comfortable, I like the feeling of this handle in my hand. The swell and the micarta feel great. I also like the bit shorter blade with the continuous curve on this one. It also doesn't hurt that this is an LT Wright handcrafted knife made right here in the USA! Thank you for stopping by, my friend! -Dave

  • @gaiusII
    @gaiusII 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for your reviews! Im deciding between the lagom and woodlaw. If the handle wasnt a factor how would you compare cutting performance, especially feathersticking between the two?

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for taking the time to stop by! My Lagom is a scandi, while my Woodlaw is a saber grind (purchased and modified by baryonyxknife.com). I think they are both excellent for tasks like feather sticks. I am not sure how the Woodlaw factory edge comes, but Benjamin did an excellent job with the grind on mine. If I had to choose, I would say that the little extra money for 01 tool steel, USA made, outstanding handle and scandi grind are worth the extra cake for the Lagom. The Lagom also has a little brother, the LTWK Kamrat, available at bensbackwoods.com that may be a tad less expensive. -Dave

    Say Heah Dave, I wish you a safe Holiday. I totally approve the Lagum. Further more I could understand why. I experience that same with my similar 3V Skookum Bush Tool. Yeah, Infact mine came out with a continues curve edge belly and Lemme tell you, for that its a exceptional great carver/slicer. I embedded that I'm my brain. "That Curved Edge Bellies Do Great" (I wonder how C E D G musically sounds) heh heh heh. Anyhow I sort of L@@K for these characteristics when I buy knives to Bush Craft. But I got extremely lucky when I teamed my Fox Jungle Parang with my Cold Steel 3V Master Hunter which I originally bought to team it with my Fox Parang Bushcraft Jungle Knife which the two really are similar, But do have suttle difference. One being the Sheath and Attachments are in the O.D.Green. So when the Jungle Parang came and it was all black, It just color match, so I teamed it with my 3V Master Hunter right away. Over this Holiday Weekend I took my new set out. I brought my Fox Jungle Parang with my 3V Master Hunter and my BK-24 with scales as my neck knife. I also added my Wicked Tough Saw because I'm still figuring out how to setup my new Agawa Canyon 21 Boreal Saw. Infact I also bought the EZ KUT WoW Folding Saw
    Yup that's what its called, The "WoW Saw". Anyhow the curved edge bellies on both knives, even though the Jungle Parang is a little over 7". Bit with removing alot of metal to make a very thin apex edge, makes it a bitter. It's not that heavy so its not a power chopper, but very sufficient to chop moderate stuff.
    But I can also feather with it, The 3V Master Hunter is more task specific for my finer tasks. Believe it or not, my 3V Master Hunter almost has as thin if not thinner edge apex. Yeah, Dave you heard me say this before. But this here set. Is proving itself as a Fav. of mine real fast. I could imagine when I figure how to put together my Agawa 21 Boreal because it comes in a very nice scabbard, and its called the Crazy Horse Leather Sheath, it also come with a shoulder sling. Yeah, its very nice. Yeah, The Fox Jungle Parang with my 3V Master Hunter, Oh, which has a distal rapper, my BK-14 and my Agawa Canyon 21 Boreal Saw will be seeing alot of use in this upc'min season.,,.

      Oh, I ordered my EZ KUT Folding Saw, and I just got my Agawa Canyon 21 Boreal, Dave, Honest. Get one. It's a good one. Easy Peasy Nice and Easy to put together. But it cuts great. Infact I took it out today. I also took my Fox Jungle Parang and not to confuse it with a Fox Parang Bushcraft Jungle Knife. But they L@@K very similar. I like the length on the Jungle Parang and the tip. Oh and that it also comes in all black so its a near perfect color match with my 3V Master Hunter. Yeah, the blade geometry on the 3V is alot different than the San Mai 3 Master Hunter. But I like both of them too. The S.M. 3 teams with my Cold Steel Kukuri Plus in O1, and the 3V M H teams with my Fox Parang. I'm really liking that set. Oh, I also added my BK-14 with slabs as a neck knife and my Agawa.,,.

    • @paulie4x1
      @paulie4x1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seriously, for a 3V blade its priced super and at 4 1/2" blade and its geometry, Its a good Bush Craft Knife.,,. Again, Thabx You, Dave.,,.

    Hey Dave I have a question if the world was ending which knife would you grab the spyderco bushcraft or your lagom ltw?

    • @HighCarbonSteelLove
      @HighCarbonSteelLove  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tough question, my friend! Ideally, I would grab both but if i HAD to choose, I would go with the Lagom. I like the shorter blade with the continuous curve just a bit more. Plus, it may sound weird, but I also like the fact that the Lagom was made just a few states away from me. There is something to be said about a USA made knife by people who I communicate with and am able to watch perform their magic. That being said, there is nothing wrong with the Spyderco, at all! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome question! -Dave

      Oh, Dave, Althought its not like my 3V Skookum Bush Tool or your and or our Lagum. What I'm trying to say, the C.S. 3V Master Hunter cuts similar to our knives. Infact mine measures 4 5/8" or very close to that. But the 3V and not the San Mai 3 Version which is a little thicker and not distal. But, yeah, it has a very thin edge apex. Yeah, I really like it and with my new 7.3" blade also a tin edge Fox Jungle Parang. The two knives go together like soup and sandwich. That's it.,,.
