I played this KISS machine on a cruise ship back and at a store in Florida in Dec. 1979. I also came across one at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas in 2010.
wow 17,000 made and my dad had one.... it was real fun to play, i'll never forget the sound FX and play.. real fun!
Nice refurbishment. I cut my teeth on KISS when these were brand new. Most 7-11's in my town had two pinballs, and KISS was at one of them for years. BTW, thanks for explaining the differences in the circuit boards on this; I learned some new things about Ballys !
This is the best Bally Kiss Pinball restoration I have seen, and the best TH-cam video of one, & I like the funny bits added in the videos too.
Todd Tuckey of TNT Amusements certainly knows how to do pinball restorations, (& he has some very talented staff at TNT Amusements).

The bowling alley that I went to when I was growing up had pinball and arcade machines. They had a KISS pinball machine, it was the most played pinball machine. They would get new pinball machines and replace others but KISS was the one that lasted.
iamherenow Yes...and the new KISS is coming out in next few months!
The illusion effect on the spinners where also used on Gottlieb's Genie, which was released the same year as Bally's Kiss.
I think also on Gottlieb Sinbad too

It's a collector's pinball, but we've all seen these on eBay where sellers try to gouge you for its theme. Thankfully TNT, would charge accordingly for its work, and I'd be happy, to pay the final price for an overhaul, of this magnitude.
This machine sold for $3799 with the new playfield....I think a bargain for what I see people charging for half the work we did!

The Silverball museum in Delray Beach has 2 of these machines, the 2nd extra machine they have is the German version.

Looks great overall and the overlay makes the game look new.Do you think a machine with an overlay done well is worth a little less than one with a good original playfield ( with some minor wear as you would expect)?
Its best to keep original playfield whenever possible!
Best looking kiss of all those 17000 pins of kiss made right :-) however i would like a new one made from stern so it can sound like the new metallica and stuff. kiss is legendary band u know with great music.

What is the song that plays when the machine is first booted up? I know that when you start a game, it plays "Rock & Roll All Night."
What is the overlay printed on sir ? .. . Also are the inserts cut out of the overlay or does the light shine thru ?
Its like a vinyl....the inserts are clear with the numbers printe don the clear area...this way the jewels can shine through.
Todd can you wax safely over the overlay?

What is a play field overlay... Is the wood stripped and a new overlay put over it
The original playfield is sanded down a bit to make it smooth...the new overlay lays on top of the playfield...where there are "jewels" that light (for instance, the KISS lights on the playfield) the playfield is clear. This way the color jewels are nice and bright. Obviously, everything must come off the playfield to install.
TNT Amusements Inc Oh wow.. so The playfield lights or "jewels" are clear and the color comes from the overlay? Is it like that on most pins or older ones? I feel like you guys change the colors with LEDs sometimes so I'm a bit confused Todd...
The jewels are whatever color they may be...and the overlay is clear that rests on top of the jewels to let the jewel color come through. Other overlays may have the same color of the jewels, but this means the lightbulb must shine through the jewel AND the colored playfield to show up...making it dimmer for sure. This new overlay lets the full brightness of the light come through the jewel.

Would I be right in thinking that this was the first "rock" pinball? Of course, now there's loads of them (AC/DC, Metallica, GNR, Tommy, etc.)
Hmmmmm...possibly correct....There was Stern's Nugent and Bally's Rolling Stones also....

any longer and CURT would have to do the videos :P oh I missed the longer videos. just can't watch a 2 min video. let alone eat to one. oh it's about 64 now... ahhhhh. that won't last. and a wet basement. nope would not like to find a pinball down there
