- This week, we are looking at a custom built Polar Express engine that was built by my good friend @SidsTrains!

Sid's polar express model is by far the most accurate model of the PE
Today our family went to yutah and my son went to this awesome hobby store in Salt Lake City. This store sells vintage Lionel and their trains cost only under 80 bucks!

I guess Sid’s Polar Express model looks more like the one from the movie than Lionel’s Ready to Run set or the legacy one

The custom Polar Express lomotive is so much better in detail than the original from Lionel. My compliments to Sidstrains. You did a great job.

New to the Channel, this is super neat! I have been talking about having a train around the tree for over a decade and on our vacation, this fall my wife convinced me to finally pull the trigger on the Disney 50 set from lionel and the kids and i have had a blast setting it up and whizzing around. Guess i have a lot of videos to watch and learn now!

I’m glad someone got the front right. The handrail on the front and the headlight sunken into the firebox look great. Lionel will happily make you pay $1500 for an in accurate model.
It was really cool to see how Sid was able to modify the model. Had we never had the Lionel scale model, Sid would not have had the components to install into this one so we had a great starting point with the model that Lionel created. Thanks for watching!

I enjoyed seeing Sids PE conversion locomotive. I also enjoyed the prewar yellow UP set and the hudsons. The Acela is beautiful just not my cup of tea. Have a merry Christmas Chris and family.

I LOVE how movie accurate it is. Although I did notice that the air pump shields on the front of the locomotive are still there l, don't know if that is removable or not.

It'd be fun to make a list of all the Polar Express trains Lionel has yet to release. Like the Polar Express Trippy Trolley or PE Dissappearing Hobo Rocket Launcher.

I think the reason why the Lionel version of the Polar Express is so different to the one in the book and movie is because I think when Lionel was creating the Polar Express berkshire, they went for a more real life look rather than a book and movie accurate look.

Although not a "Christmas train" the Lionel Warbonnet Santa Fe F3 passenger set under the Christmas tree has been a part of Christmas for many generations.
Agree! I recently ran the Santa Fe in a video and have had it out all season. An O Gauge icon!
