Well as soon as I found it it was planned on being on game pass day one, I knew the quality would be that of a 15$ indie game.. basically the majority of game pass..
the swings visually look like they don't have weight and reminds me of bethesda games like Skyrim. One of the only reasons I didn't fall in love with Skyrim was how boring the combat felt and this game reminds me of that.

When a dev team is more worriwd about pleasing shareholders than making good games, this is what happens. And it happens to everyone eventually. Lack of creativity or skill is not the enemy. It has always been greed.

I mean, look at Dragon's Dogma. Capcom didn't support it, despite it being the entire DMC team's passion project, so they were given shitty funding and a season time frame, so that the game would fail and they could go back to making DMC4. And we all know how that went. 🤣 While Avowed has potential, we can only hope that Obsidian hasn't fallen prey to the same pattern as many others. 😓

Most of these criticisms are certainly fair. I can definitely agree with the physics aspect. However, keep in mind, Obsidian is still a relatively small team compared to some of the industry giants that you are comparing them to. Obsidian is still playing catch up with AAA devs, while producing really good games at a much faster rate. Say what you want about Obsidian, what they lack in quality they always make up for in substance.
No, it doesn't. Due to factors like muscle and bone mass, center of gravity, velocity of force applied, and others I've probably not even thought of, nobody crumbles like that. It can probably happen, but it's so conditional that it's not even worth considering. Oh, he even showed footage of some kills from The Outer Worlds. That's what you would expect a death to look like.
After OW I realized that this wasn't the same company that made FNV... and I'm not just talking about the weak gameplay, I mean the characters, the story and the overall writing. It was all so bland and forgettable outside of a few moments like the Moon Mascot and the Movie quest. Say what you will about old Bethesda(pre-Starfield), atleast it had quite a few memorable moments and characters matched with decent gameplay.
Well Obsidian has had a niche fan base (myself) for years, and they stoped making games for us, just like Bathesda did 10 years prior. It's the animations and AI for me. They look like they're all standing still, waiting for the player to do something. Also, I think it's probably out of the alpha development stage, it's way past that

@LhynnBlue i don't agree, they've been quite productive at microsoft for their size, and they made a couple games quickly, grounded and pentiment were moderately successful, and avowed is already coming out, they've been pumping game after game, and while they weren't big hits or anything, they were decent, i think obsidian was a good purchase for microsoft, many similar sized studios bought by microsoft at the same time failed to release even a single game

Well it depends where you look, videos, forums, ect. I think mechanically it looks great but I found it visually lacking. If you liked it that's awesome, I am just a bit concerned

@@gabrielmoura7146 enemies don't even flinch when you attack, and after death they fall like bags of potatoes, it's not even on the level of skyrim where your impact sent them flying. This here looks like the default unreal engine ragdolls which don't recieve any impulse from interaction.

You may be right, I honestly can't remember where I saw that it was alpha but the last time we saw Avowed they said it was in pre-alpha
