Now that everyone who will comment probably has, i wanted to add 2 things. 1: as a child, hearing this on 8 track, it always clicked over to the next portion of the song after "she didn't believe him". *click* SILENCE *then song continues* 2. "I didnt have to tell you what he found"--Isaac Hayes didnt get graphic. A gentleman.
I think holding that note on the organ while Isaac wove his tale was a stroke of genius. Same for the prolonged backstory for the song as well. When the actual song begins, there is already so much context from this preamble, it hits all the harder. And as Matt said, when that one organ note finally shifts, it is like a seismic change and instantly emotional. The strings, piano, oboe, all of the instruments seem so subtle as they are added. And then as the vocals become more intense, the music builds, too. Trumpet, the bass guitar. That bass is great! I like it when the vocals end and the drums and piano keep pounding. And it did sound like raindrops on the piano as the vocals returned, ending with splashes at the keyboard. As with other tracks, this one seemed like a live, improvisational track. This song is probably best known as being one of Glenn Campbell's biggest hits. Here it is a soulful tour de force from Isaac Hayes!
Wow, this was quite a journey. 😎 A great one! 👌Such a long track that manages to never get boring. Impressive! Loved it. Thanks to Cindy for bringing some real quality stuff to your channel. 🙌🤗

The organ player was like: "I had to play the same note for almost 10 minutes and now let me show you how it´s really done".
That organ player was none other than Issac Hayes, who taught himself organ and piano. ❤
BTW, this was the album that saved Stax Records from bankruptcy. So there’s that!😂
That organ also held that opening note for like almost 10 minutes
Yes, a masterpiece my brutha!❤

😘🥰 And thanks to you, my beautiful girlfriend, for taking this lengthy and impressive journey with me. I love you, Sofia. ❤🔥
@@mattsnider2667 🥰 Oh, this was nothing compared to the journey we still have ahead of us. ☺ I love you too. 😘❤🔥
THANK YOU. HAPPY FRIDAY❤
You are very welcome, what a tune! The perfect culmination of this soul-fantastic album.
@@mattsnider2667 I snorted at the look on your face when Isaac pre-warned, "I'm gonna moan now." Then went 🎼mMMMMMM toward the end
I like to think of it as a love letter to Simon Phoenix, holding on to the vain hope that he can defeat John Spartan.
Nice voice, but he is responsible for Cabbie and Brains dying on that bridge.
Brains: "Better than being lunch for an Alien!"
Cabbie: "And someday I'll come back as a superhero and fight eeee-viil. To the Invisible Boatmobile!"
@@WYVEREX5 Cabbie "Hey, you're Snake Snider. I heard Madge gave you head!"
Interested in reacting to a trance track?
Ha, sure, though it may need to wait a bit to get into the rotation. But to quote Signum, what ya got for me?
