      They should change the law to only pay for student loans incurred prior to his injury. He has a minimum of 4 years of education free through the GI Bill, and fully disabled veterans qualify for even more. What he is trying to do is unethical.

    Another 100% "disabled" vetern who is cleared to work as much as he wants...wtf... absolutely not a knock against veterns but ive met many personally that are on lifetime "disability "....they joke how they got disability and are perfectly fine. We 100% need to provide for our disabled veterns but if you're cleared to work as much as you want you are not 100% disabled. There are even more normal citizens who get on social security disability and are able to work full time. There needs to be continuous evaluations on disability claims that allow the people to work as much as they want.......such a burden on taxpayers
    Not to mention him trying to scam taxpayers out of additional student loans with no intent on paying them back

      @minxp5118 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would have to adjust the VA's formula for calculating disability percentages. Even though he's 100%, that doesn't mean he's 100% disabled. The formula calculates the largest disability and then deducts that from 100; each subsequent disability is a percentage of the leftover bit and is then deducted.
      For example:
      Consider a PTSD disability rated at 70% combined with a back disability of 50%. If you add the two together, you would get 120% but that's not how it works.
      The VA starts with your highest overall rating, multiplies the next highest rating into the previous one, adds it on, and so on.
      The calculation starts with your highest rating of 70%. After subtracting that, 100% - 70% = 30%.
      Then they multiply that remaining 30% by the rating for your back disability, which is 50%. Take 50% of 30% and you wind up with 15%.
      Add that 15% onto the original 70%, and you wind up with an 85% total disability rating, which would be rounded up to a 90% combined VA disability rating. The process continues for each disability remaining from highest to lowest so if you have multiple disabilities, you can easily get to 100% and still be functional enough to work in some jobs, though you would not qualify for SSDI.

    He really needs to talk to the GI bill reps.

    This is pure non-sense. It does not matter if the tax payer or a corporation is paying. He earned the benefits through his employment. Whether money goes to rent, dorm rooms or his mortgage is irrelevant. He needs somewhere to live while going to school. This is pretty low to say to someone do not use the benefits you earned because I have to pay them.
