Thank you for the no-nonsense way of doing it yourself; you helped me save a friend of mine a ton of money just by watching 3 of your videos and fixing the regulator / changing the window. Keep up the great work Sir :)
You're the best! Now I can use my factory tint windows from my totaled 2001 on my 2004 GLS that came with orange peel self tint! This is why we're paid subscribers to your site :D
This was a game changer for me. I blew out the original beetle window on mine and had no idea how to get the new one in. It wasn't quite as easy as you showed but we got her done.
Thanks Humble Mechanic! I am about to remove the glass from a Mk 4 Golf door for repainting and while I am confident it's always good to see the job done before hand as it speeds things up. 2 minutes invested here will save more that 2 minutes when doing the job!
My friend got a car from salvage. The person who put it on for her said the window bracket is broken and the glass is sliding down. What am I needing to fix here in this case? The regulator itself or?? Very informative vid btw and its a 2016 model.
so my glass of my 03 vw beetle turbo s passenger door is gonna be here tomorrow, putting the glass in is the reversal of the removal of this video ? makes sense and ive been searching for the install video and there isnt one.. but i think this is the only video touching any part of the glass, every other one is only about the regulator.. so its gotta be so... :D thanks man!!! i appreciate you guys @ HumbleMechanic
nice quick n easy diy man. and yet I've never actually pulled the glass out. only taped it up to do the regulator.....now I know lol....for some reason I though you would have had to take the weather stripping out between the glass and the lower door seam.
Would that same way work on a 2012 jetta? My passenger window got shattered and I got the replacement window....I've just never replaced a window before, so I'm hesitant lol
Nice video man! By the way, can you tell me how to change the front turn signal bulb (also DRL) on a 2016 Passat please? Couldn't find the bulb anywhere (Autozone or so)... Many thanks.
Thanks man, trying to replace rear window on my 2012 jetta wagen and was wonder how the F% this was supposed to work. I think your video helped me realize how I get the new one in AFTER I resecure that inner metal panel secured (I had to remove anyway to get broken glass and the spreader-plug thing,. And then I should have access to lock the fastener,.
at 0.55 it should have two rivets there, Don't need to remove those rivets before remove the carrier panel, it will hard to put it back, I remove the carrier panel with the door lock all at once, first on rear door that fitted with 1/4 window or wagon, you need to remove the short window's rail that fit front of the door lock, then remove the lock bolts and then you can remove the all out a little to easy remove the cable that from the outer handle to the door lock ,then can out at once.some models need to remove outer door handle at once. after out ,then can remove and install the rivets easy., front door is easy because no window's rail there.Hope this help!
hey man sorry to bother but i know youre really helpful and i would appreciate if you uelp me out so i bougt this gti n it had some issues vutvthats not the point i left the car in my parking space after i drove it home and while i was at work my brother tried starting with a key that just opened the doors on the car but didnt start the key that starts the car was with me at work so i came back home and tried starting but all it would do is crank up but no start im tryna figure out if i have to reprogram the key by reseting the system what would you reccomend ?
Hi, Thank you for the video. Do you know how to replace the pin that goes through regulator and into window on 2012 Passat? There is one in the middle that connects the window to the regulator. I see the access hole but not 100% clear how to put new pin in as it is in 2 pieces. Smaller fits inside the larger. Thanks in advance
Damn frost made my window pull away from the track however it is sitting in the track now hopefully those to screws just need to be snugged up so it operates like before
This reminds me, I need to fix those damn rear windows on my B5. On side I got a piece of wood holding the window (at least you can't see it), while on the other there is a screwdriver #oldschool
hey i have a 2009 passat tsi ccta i have extended cranking but once fired up runs like it should and runs smooth also i have codes p000A p0011 p0068 p0341.....it takes 4 cranks while holding the key to turn on position....also i have oil pressure warning lights coming on at random times on random days sometimes it doesn't even come on can you help me?
hi, i own a vw golf mk7 and yesterday sent it to have his (it's a boy) windows tinted... when i picked it from the local shop, quite prestigious i may add, i've noticed the tiny windows on the A pillar were not tinted, i asked why? and said they couldn't do it because there was no room.. is there a way to have them removed and tinted and then place them back? i am affraid if i push the rubber with a screw driver might break the glass or bend the metals... please help so i can teach the pros to do things right i might add they are not really as good as they advertised, i've already changed both films on front doors and after 24hrs back doors and rear one has bubbles, hopefully the third will be the charm one... if anyone can help me to teach these genius and pray for the new tint install works well would be mostly appreciated thanks
thanks for replying, its actually the motor thats damaged but i cant get the regulator off the door. im sorry to lay this on you but i have few problems with the car would you be willing to help me with some advice please
Thanks bud. Im a retired Master but not a VW guy. Thanks for posting. My Daughter got smashed in her dodge truck. 2 weeks later her hubby was rear ended in the Passat. So they had my pickup and a motorcycle. After all the vehicles come home she loses a window to mowing the lawn without checking for rocks. OUch. DAD!!!!
well hers had the reverse torx(etorx) and reverse threads both. Glad I saw your video and read the comments. It was a breeze. Plus the glove box was damaged because my son in law didnt know how to unlock it to get his insurance card when all upset. Then he broke the visor clip . All were easy to fix. Maybe I should have considered being a VW guy in my day after all. I did work on VWs way back in the early 80s when I did body and fender work. BUgs type 4 ,vanagon, rabbits and sciroccos. Restored totals at a specialty top during the years when the EPA was killing the industry.Anyway Thanks for the help. Ever need to bounce stuff off some one I was an electrical and electronics specialist and a member of the IATN. Not the smartst guy by any stretch but prettty good at engine performance and drivability stuff. Have a good day. \
someone broke my window with a brick so i dont need to remove the wondow per say. how do i go about doing this since i would assume theres shattered glass all in my door.
no youtuber show how to remove and reinstall the plastic lock pins ( this one have two pins on the left top corner), the one locking the window penal and the door lock.I think someone can't put it back lask time.
HumbleMechanic Dude King of the Hill was the most unique and well made cartoon of all time. Mike Judge is the man. he's making a new cartoon about country musicians I believe.
HumbleMechanic can you help me out real quick? I have to change a rear wheel bearing on my sisters 2002 1.8t Jetta. I bought the hub assembly but I need to know what special sockets or bits I need. I know German cars use triple square stuff. thanks man
I think the main bolts are allen bolts, maybe 8mm (it's been a while) and there is a special socket to push the bearing on a little bit because the bolt is too short. I think you can nurse it on if you are careful.
I don't follow. VWs are cars. Are you saying that you are unsubscribing until I do videos on cars other than VWs? It may be a while. I am a VW dealer tech, and I am head deep in a VW rebuild project. HumbleMechanic i meant cars in general sorry m8 , i didn't know that you are VW dealer tech the reason why i am not interested in your videos , my country had maybe 200 VW cars in total , we dont use VW because its not last long in here , not like toyota , nissan , hyundai , honda ... etc + we have the worst VW Dealership in the world
HumbleMechanic your videos r awesome and i hope u do videos to cars in general agian thank u for reply and care about your audience hope u have a nice week

Carola Kieboom it very well might be. I try to bring diversity as best I can. But 99% of what comes into the shop is a VW. Would you mind explaining the "come across as a douche" part to me? I rarely intend that. And I feel like when I do, there is no doubt about it.

Oh my God thank you for making this quick and painless. That's exactly what I needed thank you again.
Your videos makes it so easy to work on my MKIV GLI, keep up the good work!
AWESOME! Glad that they help
HumbleMechanic I will be signing up for crewmembers soon!
Thats awesome man. Thank you!
I've been looking to get a backup camera for my mk7 gti, since my 2015 S didn't come with one. Do you know how to remove one? Thanks
Thanks!! This just worked on my 2008 VW T5 Transporter. Awesome!
This was a game changer for me. I blew out the original beetle window on mine and had no idea how to get the new one in. It wasn't quite as easy as you showed but we got her done.
hell yes , I just busted my glass today while mowing this video gives me a huge relief
Thanks Humble Mechanic!
I am about to remove the glass from a Mk 4 Golf door for repainting and while I am confident it's always good to see the job done before hand as it speeds things up.
2 minutes invested here will save more that 2 minutes when doing the job!
Thanks. You made that look so easy. Now confident enough to replace my driver's glass on my 2006 VW T5 Transporter.
Thank you. Trying to fix my VW window, and with your video, you made that look so easy. Keep up the good work :)
Thanks for that!....I have a T5 Transporter and this video added to the knowledge I needed to get underway.
Great Video. I've been looking for video on how to remove the rear door window on a 2009 VW CC. I need to replace the door lock
My friend got a car from salvage. The person who put it on for her said the window bracket is broken and the glass is sliding down. What am I needing to fix here in this case? The regulator itself or?? Very informative vid btw and its a 2016 model.
Thanks made my life easier
Thoughts on how to get the bolt out if it is stripped without damaging the glass?
Do you have a video on how to remove the rear door lock modules on a mk4 Jetta?
thanks that was helpful, i needed to install one and just did your bit in reverse 🙂
man you make it look easy. LOL love these videos.
LOL, most of this stuff is pretty easy. But to be fair, I have done hundreds of these windows for regulator replacement
Once again an excellent tutorial, this will help me one day I'm sure. Keep it up man!!
so my glass of my 03 vw beetle turbo s passenger door is gonna be here tomorrow, putting the glass in is the reversal of the removal of this video ? makes sense and ive been searching for the install video and there isnt one.. but i think this is the only video touching any part of the glass, every other one is only about the regulator.. so its gotta be so... :D thanks man!!! i appreciate you guys @ HumbleMechanic
How would you remove a rear quarter window on the MK3? Thanks.
nice quick n easy diy man. and yet I've never actually pulled the glass out. only taped it up to do the regulator.....now I know lol....for some reason I though you would have had to take the weather stripping out between the glass and the lower door seam.
Excellenet video, very clear, helpful and instructive. You are a superstar.
Would that same way work on a 2012 jetta? My passenger window got shattered and I got the replacement window....I've just never replaced a window before, so I'm hesitant lol
It's kinda easy when you see how. Thanks dude.
Nice video man! By the way, can you tell me how to change the front turn signal bulb (also DRL) on a 2016 Passat please? Couldn't find the bulb anywhere (Autozone or so)... Many thanks.
Not sure what year this is but on my Jetta the outside door panel comes off and gives you full access to the window and door lock actuator
Is there a way of removing the small part of the rear door window of a mark 6 golf, thank you
How about a 2020VW Atlas rear door glass and vent
On some models the screws on the clamps loosen the other way. Just a heads up.
TRUE! some are counter threaded. most of those are also inverted torx drive. What a dumb design.
Counter threaded... Thanks. We call it "links" (left in German) in Norway..
any idea what to do? i cant lift up the trim after its unscrewed in the handle and under it gets stuck somewhere
Do you have one for a vw scirocco?
What about the rear passenger door window glass, and the quarter glass?
My GTI, mk6 doesn’t have an outer door panel. How would I get to the latch on that type of door?
Thanks man, trying to replace rear window on my 2012 jetta wagen and was wonder how the F% this was supposed to work.

How do you remove mk6 golf r rear hatch glass
Hi, Please let me know how I can bring the driver side window (glass) up. I am replacing the window regulator. Thanks
Exact same problem here with my t5 Multivan 🙈
hey man sorry to bother but i know youre really helpful and i would appreciate if you uelp me out so i bougt this gti n it had some issues vutvthats not the point i left the car in my parking space after i drove it home and while i was at work my brother tried starting with a key that just opened the doors on the car but didnt start the key that starts the car was with me at work so i came back home and tried starting but all it would do is crank up but no start im tryna figure out if i have to reprogram the key by reseting the system what would you reccomend ?
OMG you save my life. thank you so much
any tips on what to do if those god forsaken tiny ass hex bolts holding the glass in place are stripped?
Can't loosen them with anything I've tried
Does anyone know if this is the same procedure for a Mk6 JSW??? Thanks
It’s probably the same as my Passat rear window. I did a video on it. You can skip right to where I install the pin
What about the small wimdow om back door of mk5
Damn frost made my window pull away from the track however it is sitting in the track now hopefully those to screws just need to be snugged up so it operates like before
This reminds me, I need to fix those damn rear windows on my B5. On side I got a piece of wood holding the window (at least you can't see it), while on the other there is a screwdriver #oldschool
How take o3 rear glass out with round plastic pins?
How do you remove the outside window trim
Mk7 golf?
Is it the same way to remove glass??
Top man thnjs 👊

That's some useful info right there. Thanks, man!
But what if the glass is stuck when the window is rolled DOWN. I can see it but can not pull it out.
Call me weird, but I love going to the junkyard and getting parts for my car :)
djolecar88 not weird at all. I love it.
@@HumbleMechanic
I love it, too.
In my country we don't have that. Kinda sad when people working at junk yards destroy your piece during disassembly.
do you know how hard it will be to remove the window regulator on my driver side 2012 vw cc. i have absolutely minimal car mechanical skills
Inexpensive way to do it
Great, easy peasy!
Does anyone know how to check a window motor at a junk yard with a jump box and no key
Thank u very much for my mk4!
How to install the window someone attempted to break into my mk4 R32 passenger window side and looking for video to install a new one in!
Its just the reverse of this. You don't need to adjust it at all. Just don't tighten the bolts too tight. The glass will break
Will that work the same on an Amarok? Thanks.
Sadly I do'nt know. Never worked on one we don't have them in the US.
@@HumbleMechanic no problem. thanks for the reply.
how about the windshield?
Totally different window/door config for my 04 toureg. Nothing like this uninstall.
Yep, you have to pull the whole window frame off.
hi, i own a vw golf mk7 and yesterday sent it to have his (it's a boy) windows tinted... when i picked it from the local shop, quite prestigious i may add, i've noticed the tiny windows on the A pillar were not tinted, i asked why? and said they couldn't do it because there was no room..
is there a way to have them removed and tinted and then place them back?
i am affraid if i push the rubber with a screw driver might break the glass or bend the metals...
please help
so i can teach the pros to do things right
i might add they are not really as good as they advertised, i've already changed both films on front doors and after 24hrs back doors and rear one has bubbles, hopefully the third will be the charm one...
if anyone can help me to teach these genius and pray for the new tint install works well would be mostly appreciated
thanks
what do you do if the glass isnt connected to the mechanism anymore and doesn't move with the rotor when you press the button for it to go down
You can pull the glass up and out. Put the regulator at the right position and then install the glass.
thanks for replying, its actually the motor thats damaged but i cant get the regulator off the door. im sorry to lay this on you but i have few problems with the car would you be willing to help me with some advice please
Very awesome video

same way, just be super careful and wear gloves.
Great video..i guess the rear windows are more complex
yes and no. They are not much harder, but they are held in with a plastic retaining pin on this gen. Not hard, but different for sure
Do you have a video on the rear ones?
How about the rear door window? Seems to be more difficult to take out.
I will be doing that video soon. I filmed replacing the regulator on my Passat. Maybe next week? Hopefully anyway.
Outstanding!
How do I fix my 2003 vw mine don't open the back ride side window won't open
Do you hear the motor working?
Yes I could hear the motor working
my windows is locked with a plastic plug which i can't get out :(
So weird :/ my 06 rabbit has no center screw
Charles are you using the parts off that car or getting paid by pick a part to disassemble it for them? lol.
great video as always
Just taking them off and showing how to do it. I put most of the parts in the trunk so people could just grab and go LOL
HumbleMechanic
when you do a Eurovan let me know I'll come pick up the parts. lol
no youtuber show how to remove and reinstall the plastic lock pins ( this one have two pins on the left top corner), the one locking the window penal and the door lock.I think someone can't put it back lask time.
ugh. reminds me of the issue with the old clips and the window dropping
It is sooo much easier on a MK5. I wish they still had removable door skins.
Yep. Those skins are cake!
What about the rear door, i need to fit a glass in, no video on it anywhere god damn it
Aaron kaufman???????????
do you have a picture of yourself with a tiny beard?
What kind of VW is that? Mind is passat and way deference...🙄
maybe add the years of vehicle that you're working on or front or rear doors something that better describes your title
first
