Darren, This may sound over the top, but these careful explanations and troubleshooting examples have changed my life as a full-time RVer. You have given me the tools to be the captain of my own vessel. I know that you do this as part of a business, but thank you for showing the world how helping your fellow man can be good for business, too! I can't express my thanks enough.
Something to keep in my depleting memory bank. Thanks for the tip!
I've heard about the furnace not running without the exhaust port, but never seen it demonstrated. Thanks. The green light on the dinosaur board was coming on too.
Always learning from all your videos great to review them when a problem comes up. thankyou !!
Darren, thanks again for being so kind to share your wisdom with us !
Great information as always. Don
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Darren!
Ive also had this type of flame-out condition be the result of a gas valve/regulator assembly failing to provide the correct pressure and flow rate of fuel. It is still important to use the exhaust port due to the airflow restriction it provides.
Helpful...ty for posting!
OMG, this may be the fix I have been looking for!! What was the code that flashed ón and stayed on mean?
Thank you so much!👍👍
More videos please..
Thanks
Hmmmmm. I always thought that happened because the combustion fan was pulling in spent gasses from the exhaust and sucking them in the combustion chamber. Not enough oxygen left to sustain the flame. Anyhoo, the first time that happened I couldn't figure out why the furnace wouldn't stay burning.....Threw me for a loop. Happy Saturday Darren!!!!
I have the opposite problem that started just in time for the snow storm.
My furnace won't shut off at all! As long as the thermostat wire is connected. Then it is signaling to run. Even when it reached temperature. It never shut off for probably 12hrs before I figured it out.
The problem is in my AC & not my furnace. It is just doing as it is told. I am running a Carrier Air V. So my thermostat is in the AC unit itself and controlled by a wireless remote.
I traced the problem up the wire from the furnace, all the way to the AC. I hit a wall when it reached the power board on the Carrier. I know it is up there because I can unplug the furnace wire on the board and it shuts off. So I obviously have a short somewhere in either the power board or the thermostat. Which is a separate board.
I could us some help. I don't have a wiring schematic to do it myself.
Oh my... never thought of the exhaust port doing that - it also makes *perfect* sense. Will definitely keep that in mind. Looked like an Atwood furnace, does that also apply to Suburban's as well?
No
Mine doesn't have the doughnut, but there is a slight crimp in the end of the tube....is that creating the back pressure needed?
Also mid your connectors are oxidized or your flame sensor has build up on it, same thing will happen. Ask me how I know. 🤔😉
If the wrong exhaust pipe is installed without the restrictor, will that cause the sail switch to flutter while the fan is running.
Wonder if there is some way to bypass the sail switch?
I just had my Subarban furnace (simple front vents) rv furnace serviced because it was making a ignition gas popping noise and not putting out much heat and sometimes getting some gassesios smells inside the camper... I suspected maybe a hornets (or some other bug) nest... I picked it up today and they said it was a gunky blob of something in the fresh air intake... They said (after I asked) that it was probably a nest of some kind at some time in the past... But me trying to make it work for the last 4 months had made it into a globby mess... Meanwhile, I replaced the whole furnace with the next size up... And now I have two... (I have no idea what I am going to do with the repaired one) 🤔👀💡😏
Mine is doing this exact flame out fan still running.. lights flames out but port is connected what gives?
What are some things that would stop a suburban furnace from working? The blower won't even come on it has 12v power at the connector....
Connect the two blue thermostat wires together. No run? bad motor or bad board are two most likely cause.
