  • Flywire takes a close look at the Takeoff phase of flight in an A36 Bonanza. Check it out and let us know what your technique is!
    FlyWire is about exploring flight and the freedom this incredible experience brings us on a personal level. Flying has always captured the imagination and excitement of living life to its fullest. Hi, I'm Scott Perdue. In a former life I flew the F-4 and F-15E, more recently I retired from a major airline. I've written for several aviation magazines over the years, was a consultant for RAND, the USAF, Navy, NASA as well as few others, wrote a military thriller- 'Pale Moon Rising' (still on Kindle). But mostly I like flying, or teaching flying. Some of the most fun I had was with Tom Gresham on a TV show called 'Wings to Adventure". We flew lots of different airplanes all over the country. Now with FlyWire I want to showcase the fun in flying, share the joy and freedom of flight and explore the world with you. Make sure you subscribe if you want to go along for the ride!

      It is indeed. The roads are for airplanes and cars have to give way.

      Are the cars required to have radios and transponders?

    Thanks for the informative video. I'm not a pilot but watch a lot of aviation stuff on TH-cam. I always wondered why some pilots call out pulling the gear up out of runway while others simply pull the gear up sooner.

      Some folks think it's a good idea to verbalize it as a regular practice. In the airline world the pilot flying calls for the gear.

    I had a ‘56 H35 that required a pronounced pull to get it into the air. My previous airplane was a Cirrus, which almost lifted itself off at Vr.

      Chuck- Thanks. I was just bitten very hard by the flying bug. Grew up that way, my Dad was a WWII Marine pilot. I grew up with Stearmans and Bonanzas.

      FlyWire- scott perdue not much and useless. According to my filipino friends from the US said that too. It’s a big difference. We are 3rd world. Anyway, I’m still finishing watching all your videos for motivation. I shared your videos on facebook.

    So do you recommend hitting your brakes following rotation and after the gear is retracted on takeoff?

    • @FlyWirescottperdue
      @FlyWirescottperdue  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The POH says nothing about it, in some airplanes like the T-6 the POH recommends it. But not in a Bonanza. Just one extra thing to distract you from flying the airplane. The tires do not hit anything in the wheel well.

    Where to you set your elevator trim for takeoff?

    • @FlyWirescottperdue
      @FlyWirescottperdue  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grant- Good question. The short answer is I use the book setting 'In the Green'. Typically, I run it at 5 degrees for take off. The important thing is that it is in the green, if you leave a landing setting set the stick forces may be VERY high to keep the aircraft from a severe pitch up,

    • @granthensley3073
      @granthensley3073 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FlyWirescottperdue I generally depart with the trim in the top of the green. When I purchased the plane I would set it in the center and learned that it required less control force at the top or nose up setting.
      Thanks for your videos.

    • @FlyWirescottperdue
      @FlyWirescottperdue  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! You do hold the elevator neutral during the takeoff roll. right?
