I used to curse a lot. Also listened to a lot of music with curse words too. When I finally submitted to the Lord and was filled with the Holy Spirit, those words became like daggers to my ears. I haven’t cursed in months and also cringe listening to curse words as well. We are representatives of Christ. Our light should shine so bright, it’s noticeable to all who see us. We cannot use the filthy words of the devil and respect God.

It’s so wonderful to listen to a man who is really following Christ in everything he says and does. Thank you for standing up for what is true, and right.

I like the Biblical principle of abstaining from the appearance of evil. That way we are not only more effective in our continual witness for the Lord Jesus Christ we also manage to stay out of trouble at the same time!

I saw a t-shirt once that said, “I love Jesus but I cuss a little!” Shame on this thinking! Could you love Christ a little more???

I really appreciate these lessons. I have been very blessed at work. People do not cuss around me. I don't say anything, but I do try to live a kind, gentle life. When we have new employees, they will cuss like sailors at first, but after a while, They will stop. In my nine years at this workplace, I have only had to say something one time. That is when another co-worker who claimed to be a christian made a lot of sexual jokes. I told him as long as I acted like a lady. I expect to be treated like one. We never had any more trouble. Again , I know this is a blessing of God, and I am very grateful for it.

I use to cuss too but when I was born
again, God changed my language 🙏 and I saw how it really ruined my testimony and reflection on God

It’s amazing how many people in the world say they don’t believe in God yet say OMG on a regular basis. I personally have been convicted saying OMG when not in prayer.

This is something I struggle with from time to time, in stress or anger especially, and God is really helping me as I yield more to Him. However it shocks me when I see christians post on facebook "Share if you love Jesus" or "Type 'amen' if you are born again" and the very next post has graphic FOUR LETTER WORDS ! This happens way too often and it reminds ME that I need to be a better example and witness with my words, especially for my family who, for the most part, do not believe the full gospel as outlined in Acts 2:38. Good, detailed teaching Brother: AMEN !

      ‭‭Ephesians 5:1-7 KJV‬‬
[1] Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; [2] and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. [3] But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; [4] neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. [5] For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [6] Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. [7] Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
      ‭‭1 Corinthians 14:34 KJV‬‬
[34] Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
[37] If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

      ‭‭1 Corinthians 5:9-13 KJV‬‬
[9] I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: [10] yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. [11] But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. [12] For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? [13] But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Such a beautiful testimony hargisP2!! I was a teenage drug addict from Berkeley and God moved me out of that town and our family ended up in a city that had a wonderful UPCI church. I was invited to attend and attended with intense apprehension.....only to find myself being filled with the Holy Spirit and baptized in Jesus name and to feel redemption for my sinful soul...and that was 43 years ago and I have never looked back. Jesus has been so merciful to us!!!

I loved this bible lesson and as a teacher I shared it with my teen Sunday school class. I used to have a vulgar mouth before I was born again, but after receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit and being baptized in Jesus Name, it's like God cleaned my mouth & heart. That was years ago BUT sometimes the temptation comes to me to say a mediocre cuss word like if I read something terrible in the news & politics , but God helps me to nip it in the bud. Sometimes I will even THINK one of those words and then I say.."Lord, I am so sorry, help me to pray for the situation instead." But when I am faced with a frustration head on, sometimes I will say "shoot" and I hope that's not considered cussing, though in a way it's a clean alternative to the bad word if you know what I mean. Anyway, THANK YOU AGAIN Bro Bernard for your excellent teaching...this lesson was so amazing & informative...you didn't use human reasoning, instead you used Holy Scripture and you addressed it perfectly!😊👍🏽

If I may add a verse that I like to use in order to show that the apostles did not usually swear :
    Matt 26;73
And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
74 Then began he to *curse and to swear,* saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
This verse shows us Peter purposely used curses to show he wasn't a disciple of Jesus. I believe it means their speech was proper in comparison to others to a point where it was noticeable.
    Blessings

The problem with cussing is that, because of movies, people think cuss words are adult words, and only children shouldn’t say them. Because of PG and PG 13 and then R for adults etc… but the Bible says different

What i always wondered about is how in different cultures the cus words are different. In french culture for example using the word tabernac, translated tabernacal, loosely is frowned upon same with rhe french word for chalice. I think we should have respect for these cultures as well and not use those words in french or english lightly.

How do we refer to people who do evil things, like Jeffrey Eppstein, George Soros, Anthony Fauci, the Clintons and Bidens without using words like WICKED, EVIL? Seriously, I want to know.
Thank you for this teaching. I've let some foul language slip into my speech and I'm going to listen to sermons like this to remind myself that it's sinful.

Brother Bernard. What is the finished work? What is the wesleyana theology of entire santificación? Why is it biblical or not? Why do Oneness Pentecostal oftfn embrace the finished work stance? Or how should we view this discusión and differences about santificacion?

Pastor Bernard. I have a good question you might be able to do. I know you mentioned it slightly in this video.
Could you ever do a video on Matthew 12:36 a little deeper? What does “idle” word mean? Is it at believers and non believers? Etc.
Could there ever be a time in which an idle word is said but it doesn’t do damage because damage was already done?

I have a really hard time believing that you are actually a oneness pentecostal in the first place. And if you are baptized in JESUS' name, and baptized with the HOLY GHOST, then what I would seriously suggest is to study the book of Genesis, chapter one. May the LORD bless you and guide you in your study. Love in CHRIST JESUS, sincerely, Pastor J.W.Brand
