      Ian, watch your video, you'll catch it real quickly. The cactus to the upper right of you (upper right when video is viewed, which is your left shoulder), behind you about 10 - 20 feet. What's with that weird cloud? The sky in the video is clear. What's going on with the cloud, it looks fake and attached to the cactus.

      "The Last Argument of Kings"......damn.

    • @Ugly_German_Truths
      @Ugly_German_Truths ปีที่แล้ว +8

      it's not even good latin.
      usually it's rendered Regis or Regiis depending on if you refer to one or many kings, which would be the genitive case or the answer to the question "whose?". The argument of the king.
      Regum (or rather regium) would be the dative "to whom", which would mean URR in that spelling meant "the last argument TO THE king". which has a slightly different implication, especially for France!

    • @fiendishrabbit8259
      @fiendishrabbit8259 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@Ugly_German_Truths It's your latin that fails here. Since rex is a third declension noun, then the genetive plural of Rex is Regum, while Regis would be genetive singular and Regi would be dative singular. Ultima ratio Regum is perfectly fine latin for "Ultimate Argument of Kings"

Their prowesses gained a lot more renown than the RAID which was also called the GIPN once. That said without trying to hide anything under the carpet, in general french people admire the gendarmerie more than the police. Military snipers, vs Police Sharpshooters. Different mission profiles, and accuracy requirements. The military requires that you hit the target, up to longer distances, police sharpshooters are required to hit headshots over shorter distances as compared to military snipers. Precision vs accuracy.
      You can be sure that a military sniper would not be happy to carry the PGM on patrol, given the weight, unless they're willing to put up with the weight for the advantage of a very accurate first shot. Again, RAID wasn't concerned with weight, as their mission profiles are for short duration shooting with very little need to reposition after the shooting.

      Perfect example of "one size (item) does not fit all". Yes, a given thing may satisfy many people, but there will always be some whose needs/wants differ.

    Does weight also generally improve accuracy by damping recoil and less user jitter transfer?

    • @cheyannei5983
      @cheyannei5983 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yup! You can see it in Ian's slomo footage for various firearms; bullets do not instantly leave the firearm and the more inertia your gun has the less it'll move before the bullet leaves the barrel.

    • @michaelathens953
      @michaelathens953 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A heavier rifle also tends to recoil more akin to a solid shove than getting punched in the shoulder/face like a very light one.
