    Love the accidental Katsu and Miho cameo. Legendary gym.

    For comp climbers in Tokyo I personally recommend Ogikubo, Underground and Fish and Bird. I have a lot of knowledge on Japanese gyms so I am happy to give a helping hand if you need :)
    fun fact: Katsu-san actually took over Ogikubo I believe last year via his own company 8611 from the previous owners (Frontier Spirits co.) so he can run it in the way he wanted to in comparison to the Yokohama, Tokyo and the Pump 1/2 branches

    Epic to see you so close on the 2D 🔥 You guys should make a 2-3 week trip to japan so you can really project stuff! I really don't understand how you can deal with the jet lag, it completely destroyed me when I moved here

    It’s so inspiring how even when you have jet lag or feeling sick you still mange to push through and try hard! Goat behavior 🥶🔥
    Hopefully we can see more bpump in the future!!

    I'm 6'3/190 cm and spent a few months in tokyo and climbed in ogi a lot. I can def. agree with the boxes being small, and challenging especially given that the gym really favors sloper-pinches and body positioning oriented climbing! I managed to get one slab/vert compwall orange tape in all my time and it felt v10-v11 range! Took multiple sessions to project, this gym is insanely good!

      It’s amazing how many powerful climbers frequent this place. We happen to be in the area laughing at how impossible the 1Dan (brown) looked and a woman smiling ear-to-ear immediately flashed it and walked away. It was Mao Nakamura and we got a picture right after!

    18:30 I seriously realized how monstrous sorato is after watching him cruising that green tape, but for those crimpy boulders, I think it has something to do with the body weight as well, you know the ratio between finger strength and bodyweight right? if you weight less, you perform better on those style of boulder problems

    You moved to Germany for training purposes, but did you ever thought about moving to Japan to train more there? If no, why not? :)

    • @devbom878
      @devbom878 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think a big part of moving to Germany was that Maddie's family is from there, and they wanted to experience living there.

      @richardsonsclimbing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yeah Germany was an awesome experience but we learned just how hard it is to live abroad! Were finally settled in mtl and probably won’t move again for climbing! Will visit Japan again though ;)
