Del Toro ruined Hellboy. I loved those movies but everyone seems to think that is what Hellboy is, big action set pieces where Hellboy has to face impossible odds to save the world. And sure every now and then that happens, but most Hellboy stories is just Hellboy investigating strange things happening in a strange place, and it ends with him punching a big monkey monster.

Damn the both of you have a valid point and I can't make up my mind if I love this upcoming movie for getting the vibe and source material right or hate it for making it look so cheap

Jack Kesy isn’t a mainstream actor but he’s been in things you’ve probably seen.
I know it’s “cool” to not like things but we should give this a chance.
And why not let an indie company do it? The big companies have been fumbling for the past few years.

I saw this as more of a teaser than a trailer. This is a small movie; they would be wise not to show too much. The costume looks better than the last movie. I like the practical makeup. It’s also a younger Hellboy if I’m not mistaken.
      Hellboy himself IS the hook.
And yes: Perlman IS Hellboy just like Christopher Reeve WAS Superman. But other actors have played Superman pretty well. Ron Pearlman won’t be with us forever.
And you’re right about Del Toro too.

As much as I and others want Hellboy 3, it just isn't gonna happen, GDT no longer seems to have interest in making it and Ron Perlman is way too old now, and Selma Blair retired due to MS and other medical issues. so as much I want Hellboy 3, its never gonna happen, and "as sad as it is" we just have to move on. As for Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Unpopular opinion but I am actually looking forward to it, sure it looks cheap, and low budget, but as a Hellboy comic fan, This is far closer to the comics, and Mike Mignola wrote the script for this movie. so I give this one a chance, and who knows it might be a good movie.

Sorry to break it to you man , but Ron is 74 , Selma Blair has severe health problems , and GDT has shifted his interest to other projects . Not to mention his relationship with Mignola is not what it used to be . Pretty much everyone has moved on from HB3 and I think it's best for us to do so too . The only way I can see it happening is in comic book form , much like Tim Burton's unproduced Batman 3 .

Watching this trailer reminded me of Dredd. Take a smaller story from the comics and make a lower budget film and build on that. Sadly it never worked for Dredd but this does feel like we're seeing a younger Hellboy in the 1950's setting and whilst Mignola never did the artwork for The Crooked Man this feels like it has his DNA running through it. I'm nervously excited.

Dredd was an amazing movie. I re-watch it a lot. It's one of those great movies that get labeled as a failure because it doesn't make 200 million in it's opening weekend or doesn't spawn 5 sequels and 3 spin offs.
When Dredd came out there were few if any previews for it. I didn't know it existed until I saw it on Netflix Outside of "hardcore" comic fans, few people knew who or what Judge Dredd was. Even Karl Urban criticized the lack of promotion of the movie.
From the casting, to the acting, the action, the effects, the soundtrack and the slo-mo sequences; that movie was on POINT. This is a long winded way of saying I agree with you. This will be a good movie but it's not going to break any records.

The del Toro movies were great superhero movies but did not do the comics Justice at all they turned Hellboy into a sniveling child wanting attention from the world instead of a grizzled blue collar esq laid-back character the setting for most Hellboy comics are typically more old world and away from big cities which is something del Toro did not follow either I'd rather they try to get it right this time then to get another del Toro movie

@@trekgalaxy having a girlfriend and liking candy are traits about him but his core story was how he feels alienated by the world and wants to desperately be a part of it that's why he let himself get blown out of the window in Hellboy 2 he even tells Liz he wishes he could do something about the way he looks comic Hellboy does not care about how he looks he's a man who's not looking for validation but purpose again I do like both but I just feel like del Toro Hellboy is like any other comic book movie granted with gorgeous set and creature designs but the comics are A LOT darker and have heavier themes more centered around horror then comic booky fun that's what makes Hellboy different

In my opinion this movie isn't ready yet to be filmed because I feel like they kind of rushed it and found a crappy director and a low budget studio I think it's better that they delay this film for next year and find a better director and a better studio with a higher and expensive budget

Hellboy 3 is never happening. I hope this attempt to keep the right with this new film works. Box office trends show big budget projects are not working. This low budget horror movie couod work financially and be more in line with the actual tone and style of the books. If they have a low bar for success it gives them the chance to have something to build on. Only time will tell.
