It was filmed during the pandemic and involves a group of friends holding an online seance for shits and giggles that goes horribly wrong. Another one I liked was "The Den" (aka Hacked) from 2013, which is about a grad student doing her sociology thesis on online chat apps who ends up witnessing a murder and becoming the killer's next target.
Okay but can we talk about how in the midst of the chaos between Mitch, Adam and Blaire; Jess is just listening, crying or possibly laughing at them with her two fingers up like this ✌

I do wish there was more behind-the-scene for this movie but sadly there's not.

i have some recs that may not be similar but are also fantastic found footage movies; gonjiam haunted asylum (korean), grave encounters, taking of deborah logan, and V/H/S these are prob my top favorites in the genre besides paranormal activity and this one
I’m not a big fan of horror films… but this is one of the most creative horror films I’ve ever seen! And, I must say even though “Unfriended” it’s a horror/thriller kind of a movie, it also has a very powerful message of how cowardly & disgusting cyber bullying is, and also knowing who your REAL friends are.
Ghostwatch is my favorite found footage and one of the scariest movies ever made. Definitely watch that one it's so much fun. Hell House LLC is really good too. Other ones I like: Lake Mungo, Creep 1 and 2, Host, As Above So Below, The Visit, Searching, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.
