If I need a half court shot, I'll roll with Curry. If I want the most clutch shot in NBA history, or the game winner, I'll roll with Allen. Curry, has the talent, but has a long way to go to build a comparable resume to Ray Allen.
Not really his 3 point stats already are comparable if not better than Allen's. All Allen has on him is the most 3's made, which Steph will most likely be breaking that record too.
Cnred I will not argue with anyone that says steph curry is the better 3 point shooter. My point is that when it counts most, Ray Allen is way more proven. Just look at the last two finals. Last year Curry had a lot of ups and downs. This year, be it due to aches and pains or distractions, curry was a total non factor. Allens biggest moments came on the biggest stage. I don't really care about half court shots during the regular season, as impressive as they may be.

The fact the league has never, ever seen someone like Curry, in terms of range, ability to create for himself behind the three and the threat to explode and crush a team's hopes in one quarter like him (like Klay on occasion also), makes me give Curry the nod as the best shooter of all time and he still has years left to play. I loved that 2007-08 Celtics team...After years of steady 'losing, or out-in-the-second-round' type play from the Celtics, I was stoked to see them get Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, as well as get Rondo into the mix...When Rondo was on point, the Celtics had four guys who could easily put thirty on you that night. They had some good depth and brought on a lot of guys who were past their prime, but when in their prime, they were solid or even all-star starters.

This went on for a couple hours. Then the end of the game after people thought okc won and started to leave, warriors somehow forced that OT with some miracle of a final minute. Then the Bang.... the arrogance of this little guy taking that ball and pulling up from half court surrounded by defenders when threes still weren’t considered a good shot. That was the day KD knew he needed to switch teams.

I am reading the comments below, and most are going with RA. I agree with that being that he has finished his career on top and is widely considered as a legend. However, SC is still in the making, but is making headway very quickly to surpass that on-paper-record. I personally think Curry is a crazy, off-balance, screen-using 3-point making machine. Also, Curry can take the ball in the paint and make those crazy shots as well (not even mentioning his fierce crossover). Stephen Curry is just a shot creator. I think it is just a matter of time (barring any injuries) before he breaks Ray's record and sets the bar quite higher. I don't think we are going to see anyone of SC's caliber for quite a while after he is done with the game. He has an ability to read the defense in such a way as to penetrate and make an avenue to score. I am not taking anything from Ray Allen, but he only had what players fed him. He had a super quick release and deadly accuracy from long range. But, so does Steph with added bonuses that Ray didn't have. I think if you had to compare an already finished career verses a career still in the making and seeing not only how Steph plays but also the career that he is sizing up to make, I would have to go with Steph. That is my opinion. Thanks for reading and hearing me out.
Ray also had, compared to Curry, superior height and athleticism. Ray's height on his jumper and his quick release made him almost impossible to have his shot blocked by rival guards and even small forwards. Curry separation is due to his ball handling prowess, never ending motor of running his opponents off screens, and never giving up on a play.
