Amazing strategy! I never knew the tail was weak to fire that certainly helps given it's higher defenses... One possibility that I think could be used to lower the number of turns down to 10 without reducing reliability would be to, in the final section of the fight, have Veronica use Channel Anger, before using Mighty Magic Burst, as the 50% boost to damage applies to the Pep Power too. So the Burst would do 8883 damage which is almost exactly the same as the combination of Mighty Magic Burst and regular Burst did here, but in one less turn. Of course this strategy could also be done in 9 turns if you get the lucky oomph from the dark star. Also in regard of the theoretical limit. When attacking the Timewyrm's face a critical hit, while not under any attack buff would deal about 2785 damage on average on the first hit, while a crit on the follow up hit would deal 999 damage on average. If all 6 hits (3 initial strong and 3 secondary hits) were to be criticals that would produce an average damage output of 11352 which if you add the 8883 from the Channel Anger Burst would put you bearly above the required 20000 HP (20235 to be exact). Should any attack not be a crit you wont be able to kill the face like this. Assuming you get the Oomph when starting the battle the tail should be easier to take down. So with a ludicrous amount of luck (the chance for 6 crits is unspeakably low add the Oomph, favourable turn order etc.) The tymewyrm could be killed in 3+3+2=8 turns. Might be fun to watch a TAS achive this but no one should ever try this in person! The first method described above is definitely doable without pretty much any extra luck, so I'd be excited to see you go for it, plus a minimum turn order of 10 just looks nice!
Those are some interesting ideas, thanks! I just assumed that mighty magic burst didn't get effected by channel anger, because it doesn't scale with magical might and it doesn't really count as a spell, so I didn't even test it
And now I tested it and it seems channel anger doesn't affect pep powers, sadly. Thanks for that idea anyways. Alternatively you could get a kaboomle that conserves mp and echoes for double crits, but I'll leave that to the TAS gang that doesn't exist yet
@@Easssae I just checked again and you're right, only the regular Magic Burst seems to be affected also Doleful Dirge, Spooky Aura and Anathemetize don't increase the Mighty Bursts Damage either :( A regular Double Down from Eric with two Hunters Moons could add on average a rough 1375 damage to the tail, who has higher defenses and 1720 to the head. Follow that up with a Mighty Magic Burst for 5970 so that the tail needs to take 12655 damage in the first phase and the face 12310 for this to kill while still taking only 2 turns. The main extra diffiulty from this probably comes from needing to keep Eric alive longer to pull of the extra attack but with some investment in defense this should be possible. This is probably the best bet to get it down to 10 turns. However, with this change the theoretical limit again gets harder to achive, as Double Down would need to crit on every hit on the face aswell in order to build up enough damage to kill in 8 turns. Edit: I also just had another think about the minimum turn count. If we are already considering these ridicolous chances for crits we could go all out and start of with Jade wearing the hare raising suit and attacking the first two phases with multifeet. Assuming all 7 hits crit every time that would be 6993 damage per use, used twice for each phase makes 4 turns total with 13986 damage dealt to each part. Add a mighty magic burst in the final phase for 5994 damage, 19980 damage total, so any target all spell or ability would kill. So this would bring down the theoretical limit to 6. (The Hare raising suit is only used so we don't have to worry about dying)
@@bonoadelt9644 I imagine the fastest kill would involve some mirror/spiked armor shenanigans, so I don't think about the theoretical limit too much. But the tail always uses kasap, so that probably makes double down more reliable
