Ngl the value thing kind of messed with my head. I'm having a hard time comparing saturated colors to black/white/grey etc. Any suggestions?

I would start by picking up a simple grayscale value chart at your local art store. You really need to put that right next to the colored paper and go back forth between all of the different values and as you practice it will become clear. I know it’s hard at first but you will get the hang of it.

I can’t tell you how helpful this video is to me 😭. I had no idea a value chart tool was even a thing. One color I always have problems creating is a cream color, I usually end up making it too dark or too orangey looking. As you’re describing what you see it makes so much sense.I regret not taking art in school. 🥲

Wow! Like magic when you mixed that pumpkin colour 😲! Not to mention those perfectly done little spots all over.
You'll have to be brave, splashing that brush, is what I tell myself. Hmm... where could I practice... Oh, the barn gable would do! After that I should have overcome my fear 😄

Yes! Keep practicing! You’ll get there. Just keep experimenting

This video is a great example of the kind teaching. Wyn does. He has an uncanny ability to use simple examples to teach very useful techniques. This is illustrated on a grand scale in his online course. That he show us how he's mixing the colors in real time during the explanation is priceless. Thanks Wyn.

I don’t have a color wheel or grey scale and value tool. I was wondering whether they are useful and how to use them. This video was very useful showing the purpose of the grey scale and value tool. I judge colors without any tools and mix what I see. Oooo the pumpkin splatters were a great idea! Thanks!

In the beginning, color wheels, grayscales and charts are very helpful! It gives you the confidence to make good color choices. Thank you for the compliment and for following along!
