the getaway 3 was cancelled forever back in the PS3 days sorry no more the getaway the best you can hope for is a remastered version of the first 2 games or a complete remake
You can definitely see Brendan McNamara's ambition with this game and LA Noire. I wish he would have put some of that effort into The Getaway's controls though.
The big problem with the controls is they made the stearing a full 900 degrees on analog stick instead of limiting it for fine tune control like every other car game which lead to it being way too sensitve causing the slightest change in stick to make you fly over multiple lanes. It needed to be less sensitive. Also would it havekilled them to implement some right stick camera control?

Love the fact that this game is getting a possible remake and it is remembered so fondly. I love it and I am not really a gamer. I just so happened to get a Ps2 just for this game and it is the best game ever conceived for me. I have played it nearly 30 times and I still want to play it again and again. Now I know that they really pushed programming to its limits then makes me appreciate it all the more and I can understand how much work went into producing it.
Rockstar Games undoubtedly took inspiration from The Getaway to make GTA IV. All previous GTA games before IV had a bit of a cartoony quality to them. GTA IV and The Getaway/The Getaway: Black Monday games are all games that were way ahead of their time.
One of the best PS2 games I ever played! I wish they never canceled the third game that was meant to be released for the PS3! I would have played it over and over again. I want a remake for this game!!!! This was one of my favourite PS2 games to play!

I remember My mom and my cousin in 2007 (I was age 4 then) singing Europe's Final Countdown while I was trying to watch Disney's The Replacements before NASCAR on ABC. And yes, I will soon go after The Getaway 1 and 2 and also yes, I'm from the states.

This game was epic in its day and really takes me back to when i was 12/13 years old. Back then you don’t realise the effort that goes into these games, the sad thing is in todays world it probably wouldn’t be cost effective to re-make it due to all the licensing of shops/cars etc. IF they did then I’m getting a new PS5

sigh...so sad this series was left for dead by Sony. I really enjoyed it...and how it tried to be more "realistic" with no HUD, map, etc. Even though the free mode as lacking in things to do, it was just fun driving around london. Didn't like BM as much as this one, but it was still good.
true gems of the PS2, this game was so accurate i had to get my Mum to tell me which streets to take when driving as she knew London streets in and out

Exactly. The gameplay was god-awful. Black Monday was a definite improvement, though. The gameplay in Black Monday wasn’t as horrendous.

Playing this in 4k on emulators still is the most realistic looking game. Its due to the use of photo realistic scans
yup, looks amazing in 4k and with the 60fps patch. The GTA series on PS2 with that crappy Renderware engine looks like a PS1 game by comparison ..

Masterpiece. A very classy game. No health packs or ammo guage, just clear screen play like a movie. The lengths they went to to capture detail shows.
