Can't wait to get printing. I do find the parts a bit confusing. Would love to see more people show off their projects.

Alrighty, now I don't feel so bad about taking forever to get my office/hobbyspace sorted out. Looking forward to learning more about the Multipoint update.

Love it! An addition I would love to see is a quick connection from the multigrid panel to a freestanding multiboard, so you could have multibins strewn across your desk gridfinity style but have them linked directly to a multiboard to provide more stability.

Multipoint might be what you're looking for! It'll be a little while longer, but it's going to be *big*!

This system is a beauty, i have being paying the subscripcion even i dont print a lot of the pices and i have a hard time figuring out what i wanna do with it. My next proyect is building a base for my monitor with bins for pens and stuffs.

Still a brilliant system but it gets a bit complicated to understand how all the parts are working....
And so much more is coming... Does it get easier to understand? Not quite sure tbh!

    • @Keep-Making
      @Keep-Making  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I completely understand the whole confusion and trust me when I say i'm 100% planning on really helping out with it. However, to start with I need to finish the system. Then i'll be able to organize and truly start to show the scope of it. For now the best analogy I have is think of it as a box of Lego in a garage sale. You know in that box is a TIE fighter and a Mandalorian along with who knows what other fantastical build but at this very moment you don't have instructions or even an image to look at so it's up to you what to make with it. But I promise those instructions and images are coming plus MUCH more!

Love the idea of the wall connections but I would use a screw and use the small holes instead. With the current design you can't use those corners anymore which is a big waste of space.

I'm sure you already considered this, but just in case. For the screw on mounting block you showed, where you marked it while using the offset extension, would it be practical to change the screw in point to an angle guiding the screws towards each other? Perhaps allowing for directly screwing the mounts on with an extension bit while they are still attached to the mounting block and grid, avoiding the mark and replace technique? It would seem to be just a change of angle to the countersink bevel, and shouldn't reduce the holding force too significantly. Just a thought.
    Great system!

My personal petition to anybody who read this to make a civil or arquitectural system like legos. I say this because multiboard has a lot of stuff. Imagine making bridges or structures in multigrid maybe like legos or minecraft inspire stuff?

This is a really cool system that has quickly become convoluted with all the “open source-ness”.. this is the problem with open source. There is never just a clear standard way of doing anything.

I see one big problem of Multi board - the huge amount of filament for that
I hope in future there will be Injection molded baseplate available - 10pc for a few €

@Keep-Making Can you show in a video, or better add pictures on the Thangs Multigrid Bins objects, that show how the bins fit onto the tiles/boards _without_ adding a grid or baseplate? You say it can work, but I can't find a _picture_ of it anywhere.

can we get a b-roll of all the items and then we can go back to videos like this for reference? .. almost like a promtional video

I love the idea, but I'm confused why you would want the bins to be sideways...

If I decide to use multiboard, would I have to get rid of my entire gridfinity storage system and print everything from scratch? This looks really cool but if that is the case then I won't be able to switch

I think they complement each other, if you don't use the Multiboard bins. There are shelves available for multiboard that provide a base for gridfinity bins. I have Gridfinity in my workshop drawers, but a Multiboard for hanging stuff that I want in reach without opening a drawer. Add some of the shelves and you can just toss some bins on it for the project you are working on, before they go back into the drawer.

Gridfinity for horizontal, multiboard for vertical. Don't bother with Multigrid.

does PLA hold up well enough to last in a workspace setup like this? i'd imagine anything load bearing would begin to deform

  • @DrDrewsAdventures

Why not just make the bolt lock base a little longer so you can get to the screw holes while connected?
