Uptop Overland Scene Pods Install with Baja Design Rock Lights | (2017 Tacoma)

- Hello and welcome, thanks for stoping by. Today I'm installing the Uptop Overland scene pods onto their AAP. I'll be using Baja Design rock lights. The scene pods where made to work with these lights, and produce a nice tight fit. The light output from these lights is perfect for this application. The pods tilt down allowing the lights to illuminate the areas on the sides of the truck. The lights and pods together look real clean on the APP. Instead of purchasing everything separately I picked up a Baja Design rock light kit that came with 4 lights and a wiring harness. The harness from BD does not have a relay and would not work with the small Toyota switches that I like to run in the cab. So, I headed up to the auto parts store and picked up a 4 lead harness with a relay. I ended up having to chop up the BD harness as I only need to use the end connectors for the lights. I appreciate that! Thank you. Depending on where you live and wheel amber will look better in the snow and rain.
@@ClassyTacos I've got all amber up front. 30" and 40" baja s8's, squadron sport fogs, squadron pro ditch lights, all amber. Just couldn't decide on the side lights. Leaning towards amber just to keep things consistent.

This is the best video for baja designs rock lights install, even for other models. I really wish they had a relay preinstalled on this harness because the 4 lead harness from Baja is the only one available I can find that accomodates the pins these lights use. Honestly more frustrating of an install than I anticipated just because the wiring is so silly.

Great video, as always...could these be wired in such a way that you have the capability of turning them on using that Scene Pods button UFO button AND/OR having them turn on like the interior dome/map lights (when you approach the vehicle at night with the key fob in your pocket)? Do you know? Thanks and again, great video!
Man, thats a great idea. I have my rock lights set up like that. My rock light wire harness was created by a company named DSIM Solutions. I'm sure he could figure it out. Now you have me thinking about it, I'm going to email him. Thanks for watching.

Great video I’ve been looking at uptop. Hey if I could recommend working on the audio. Not sure if it’s just me but the sound is a bit distorted making it difficult to understand sometimes.

Do you think one in the middle verses two would be sufficient for camp lights. Don’t want it to be too bright.
Ya, I see no reason why not. One in the middle would work. You could always start with one and see how it works for you. Then decide if two would be better. Thanks for watching.
Is it possible to have them turn on separately? Like 2 on the left or right?
It should be doable. You might need individual wiring and a switch for each set of lights, but I think it could be done. Thanks for watching.

What switches are those? They are the closest to factory I’ve seen
They come from a company called CH4x4. They are replicas of the Toyota small stock style switch. Look on the website, they make several different sizes. Thanks for watching.
