The new version of the speaker adapters do not need to be cut, there is actually a small notched out open area for you to feed the cables through.
nice disassembly video but as others have mentioned what about the stock tweeters? it looks like you now have 2 tweeters? one in the new speaker and the original one up high.what about the feed to the woofer? is it low pass or full range? where is the original crossover? i.e. are you getting any high frequency to the new speaker? personally I would want to look at the wiring and try and work out where the feed from the head unit splits. you cant simply use an adaptor.I guess you could just use the stock crossover and connect the new tweeter with an adaptor?

3:14 It's worth mentioning that these bolts are NOT included in the kit. You get the screws which should go along the inner part of the adapter ring, not the outer like what is shown here. I made this mistake tonight and was wondering why only 1 in every 4 screws was holding, but only barely.
He reused the bolts from the original speaker to mount the ring. Those should be included with your car.
I'm not talking about mounting the ring to the door. I'm talking about mounting the speaker to the ring. They show bolts, but the kit has screws.
@@FurryWrecker911those are selft tappers and any self tapper screws should work its plastic nothing special

Nice video on instructions to change the focus speakers, however this is a downgrade replacing components with coaxial speakers. A upgrade would be to replace stock component speakers with better quality n more powerful components.
Yea, I am a little surprised watching this video. I think the problem with the Sony stereo is obviously the weak ass subwoofer. Looking for a replacement 8" that I can install in the stock box with little/no modificaton. I don't want to shake pictures off the wall, I just want a little more oomph. I think the door speakers and tweeters sound perfectly fine for what they are.
I noticed that once I replaced rear factory speakers, tweets stopped working on both sides? was working before...
I would have liked to see the use of sound deadening in the door
What is the specific model of the Kicker speaker? Want to look up reviews for the speakers themselves independently.

@@Nsel79 Looked them up. Stage 3 is loosing money on this deal. 200 USD for their kit while the speakers alone are 240 USD for 4 from competitors.

Yea for real, on top of that I have never found Kicker door speakers to be anything to write home about.

I know you posted this a long time ago, but I guarantee that crutchfield has the exactly same connectors for like $5 a piece.
In this video the aftermarket speaker are with twitters, they have done a huge mistake by reconnecting the stock twitters.

They should fit as the speaker sizes are all the same in the MK3s SE,ST, RS ect
I know this is an old thread but you cannot upgrade the speakers from the Sony 10 x speakers to anything without adding a amp . The polarity/ resistence isnt the same as the Ford Sony . Whatever you replace the Sony speakers with will sound crap , no depth hadly any bass output . If you dont believe metry it , lol .

This is not really a sensible upgrade, the stock system isn’t really setup to power aftermarket speakers. Better off doing it right the first time and get a separate amp for all the door speakers. Also replace the stock tweeters as well, you can’t upgrade the door speakers and leave the tweeters jeez.
Its not a terrible first move depending on the end goal. In my SE, the stock speakers are made of coffee filter paper. Im flipping them out first. Plan is to toss a compact 4 channel amp behind the dash when cash flow permits. I'm not doing a sub.

Those stock speakers actually looks decent, I guess doing sound deadening would give more than changing speakers.
Alot of people whine about the upgraded system not being the best system out there from the factory, but it's miles better than most cars factory audio. The factory sub has plenty of pop for most people. The people that complain are the ones that want a sub to completely drown out the song, break your windows, and rattle your brain.
It's a great factory system but those speakers are only 25 watts 🤷♂️

Don’t waste your time the Sony system is Fine and gets the job done
Meh - I don't like the idea of not using the stock tweeter location, seems like it will mess with the imaging of the stereo and I personally don't find the door speakers/tweeter to be the problem, it's the weak 8" sub. Anyone know of a good replacement for the Sony sub that can mount in the factory box with littler/no modification to give it a little more oomph?
The only swap option out there is the JBL Stealthbox for 800 USD. You can buy a premade box and put your own internals in though.
@@FurryWrecker911 Yea, I considered it. Ended up getting the Sony amp out of a Ford Edge, 2013 I believe was the year. Made a huge difference the way the stereo sounds and was a direct swap.
Sony changed the DSP between amp revisions, and the older ones apparently are a lot more punchy. I am happy for the meantime.

Good lord this video made me cringe. It's definitely only useful for door removal and even using the pick for some of those things made me wince. Sorry but that's pretty messed up and unless you're going to do an amp or something I'm pretty sure those Sony speakers actually would have sounded better than the kickers and I own those speakers they are fairly efficient but the power rating is way above what a factory amp could do and its probably different impedance and everything, double checked and yeah front door are 2 ohm and rears are 4 lol.
Like you would even need remove them😂
