- Even when I go away for a short break I have to take something with me to keep my hands occupied because I must admit I'm a little bit of a workaholic.
Last night I was unpacking from my recent weekend away when I thought I'd share with you my latest travel project.
Happy Crafting

Anyone who can take bits of fabric and scraps of paper and create the things you do is considered a genius!
BRAVO!
I’ve come back to this video a few times now for inspiration! Thank you!!!
Fabulous
Catching up with my video watching now that I’m home. Lovely tag! Thank you, Ceri! ❤️
Thank you, it turned out lovely, always a bit nerve wracking doing it on a video as you never know what will happen.
Love this idea. My grandma used to say “idle hands, idle mind”. I always take magazines and things to fussy cut wherever I go. It almost always is a conversation starter or just gives a relaxed feeling, as people will ask what I’m doing or gives them something to watch.
Yup I know what you mean.
Idle hands …the devil’s workshop
❤️🤗🇨🇦❤️
My entire life I’ve always knitted, crocheted, sewed and now mix media. I love listening to books, as it allows me to be creative and still keep up with reading. That devil won’t find me lolly-gagging around.
Wow, I really enjoyed watching you decorate that tag!!! Lots of fun and you are very skilled. Thanks for sharing Ceri.
Thank you so much!
I, too, quilt and teach quilting, and i have long loved utilizing selvage edges of fabric for a myriad of projects. I have crochet rugs from them - they wear like iron!. I have made fabric from them for unique projects. I have covered boxes for storage, both large and small. Lately i have been using them as opposed to lace or sari. I stamp on them. They are great fun and it is another way of creative recycling.
Wonderful ideas thank you Debbie.
I love this about the button snippets. So very cute. Thanks for sharing 😊
You are so welcome Julie.
I love this idea!! I’m not sure why I haven’t come across your channel before, you are awesome!!
Thank you Shannon and welcome
What a great way of using scraps! I enjoyed watching how you built up the layers on the tag. I also liked how you store all the small bits and pieces - I love boxes and small containers. Thank you for sharing. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
You’re welcome thank you
Wonderful ideas!
But so much time! I feel guilty spending so much time on 1 thing- it’s hard to break old habits that had to be production oriented. Time is money/versus time is pleasure.
Thanks- for showing it’s ok to slow down / enjoy the mindless process. Don’t think/ just do.
I can see just fine! I always take something to cut, color, etc. There's always a time when family isn't up yet in the morning, etc.
I do like leaves, and have a bunch cut out, too. Now, I want to make some of those button clusters! That will be a new fun
project for me. Thank you for sharing today. I'm glad to have found you here!
Thank you and have fun with the button clusters.
The tag turned out beautiful. Love your instruction and creativity. Thank you for sharing the button clusters idea. What a great idea to take with you when traveling.
It is a fun travel item.

You are so welcome Rebecca
These button clusters are a very clever idea. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you
Fantastic use of bits and bobs. Love this idea! Beautiful tag. Nice to watch your selection process.
Thank you
Ceri, I love watching you and I am just starting my junk journal journey. I am a quilter and I think you just got me in trouble with hubby. I love this idea with my scraps of material and the buttons that I just received from my husband grandmother. lol Thank you and keep crafting or life is boring.
Have fun!
This looks fun and I'm traveling in a few months. Great idea! Thanks Ceri!
I love watching your videos. You are very intertaining as you craft. This is my second video of yours I have watched. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Rebecca for your kind comments.
Great idea for when I go visiting!! I can't stay still. I need to figet. Thank you so much for sharing! ❣
You’re welcome
OMG, wen u pulled out ur folder for ur needles I fell in LOVE, I still keep them in the package they came in, now I need to make me one of those ❤️❤️🌹❤️
lol…….one of the first things I ever made.
Well, as you mentioned someone has maybe done the button cluster/tags. It is the very first time I have seen them made. So delighted when I saw this video, have tons of scraps in anything fabric, so going to make a jar full of button clusters. A delightful past time.
Wonderful!
I like to take my hexies camping, in case I ever have some time to work on them. I can talk to people while working on them, and they don't feel like I'm closed off in a book.
Speaking of books, that was an interesting sketch in your small 'glue book' that you use to keep things neat. I'd be tearing that out to use in my collaging. And, I never thought about using old clothing patterns. I tossed mine out years ago, before I found you, Treasure Books, and a few others on TH-cam.😮 Ohhh, well.🤷♀️ I have other stuff.😏
Oh yes. Great way to use up fabric scraps and buttons. TFS Hope your getaway for a few days was relaxing and enjoyable. 😊
Donna it was great to just unwind a little.
Awesome job. I love watching you layer things. You also give so many ideas for storage!! TFS
Thank you Nanci
love love this
Love the button clusters. Beautiful tag.
Thank you
Absolutely love you’re button clusters.
Thank you
Ceri my day was extra busy and stressful. I’m so glad you have this video on so I can relax and unwind. I’ve had a button box from as far back as I can remember being a small child. My grandmother always added to it and taught me to make doll clothes and sewed for my doll and me. Almost 70, I still have my tiny tears doll, her much loved clothes. And my button box. Great Treasures. Such sweet memories. Still miss my grandma, we called her Maw❤️🙏🏻😢she lived upstairs from us, best years of my life❤️
What wonderful memories thank you for sharing them.
This is beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful idea!
You’re welcome.
Love the way the tag came together!
So do I Betty
Ceri, I always enjoy your videos and learn so much!
Thank you
Great little snippets usable on anything! I loved the tag when you were using the teal leaf also but it ended fine with the cluster!Tfs🤗🐾🐈⬛🐾
Thank you
I love your button clusters, and your tag is wonderful!
Thank you
Those are so cute!
Fabulous, thank you
Just found your channel and boy oh boy am I glad I found you!!! 🥰 What a great idea!!! I have jars and jars of buttons from my mom. I will definitely will be doing this. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us out here in the crafting community. 😍🥰🤗
Not my original idea but certainly one I use, happy to share.
I’m new to mixed media and journaling as I’m a sewist and yarn person, imagine my surprise when I seen you doing these little clusters from buttons and fabric. I can now cross over my skills!! Both my grannies had button tins and I spent many a happy hour making shapes and pictures with them. These ladies were recycling long before it became popular probably because of the war when every little thing was put to good use. Not many households have a button jar nowadays but I think it’s becoming popular again! Beautiful little clusters made into gorgeous tags. Thank you so much for igniting my creativity as I was ‘stuck’ for ideas. One little button and a whole host of little ideas! Wonderful ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, I believe all crafts and arts can inspire each other and cross over skills. Have fun.
Ceri, I do enjoy your videos! TFS! No need to resound. Hugs from South Dakota.
You’re welcome
Dearest Ceri, your video was wonderful & everything was visible!!! Thank you for these ideas!!! ♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰🌺🌺🌺. Bravo!!!
You’re welcome Alice, thank you
What a nice tag 😲🙋🏼♀️😊!!
Thank you
Many fun clusters and wonderful tag.
Thank you Robin
Your snippet cluster video just came up on my feed, and I'm so glad it did! You have so many cool treasures, and they're organized so well. What I especially loved is that a couple of times you picked up an item that I thought would be perfect, and you ended up thinking so too! I also loved that you added the mushroom image to the bottom of the tag, and selected a specimen label in an oval shape. Did you realize how your mushroom top was an oval shape, and the label was a perfect continuation???? I'm now a subscriber, and so excited to watch more of your videos.
Hello Beverly, thank you and welcome to my channel. No I’d not noticed the similarity in the mushroom and the label.
That is a fun tag, I love it! Your snippets are awesome!
Thank you so much
"Out of body experience?" Made me giggle. I call it a brain fart.
Lol….possibly a better explanation.
Thank you for going over your process. I am always looking for ideas for easy clusters and snippets and I have jars of buttons. Blessings from Missouri.
Thank you
Great idea for those small scraps have a pillowcase case full from making a hexagon quilt out of the fabrics my sister designed and printed whilst at art college have quilt painted with them but this is something new to add.
Wonderful
Enjoyed watching putting this together. I also like how you store your bits and pieces. Tfs
Dee
Thank you Dee
I think button snippet clusters is a perfect name! Absolutely love how the tag turned out!
Thank you
I'm always looking for something to keep my hands busy; these are perfect.
I hope you have a delightful day. Love&hugs to you and Biscuit
Thank you Darcy, have a great day.
Love this tag. Really scrappy and good idea for people who can’t afford to buy the elements. Old file folder, scraps of fabric, book page and paper pattern. Thanks Ceri for another interesting video.
You’re welcome Sandra
that is such a sweet little project, must try to make some. Thank you for the tutorial
You’re welcome
❤ love your crafty ideas. M 🇦🇺
Thank you! 😊
I like you job, are very clean and beautiful.
Thank you very much
Quick and cute 👍🇺🇸
Yes they are
Love the clusters and your tag!
Thank you
Thx again I to have to do something while buying watching
As long as you’re enjoying yourself.
A beautiful tag and I love these little snippets. Just recently I've been looking at the off cuts of fabric when making my journal covers. I was tossing them because I couldn't think of what to use them for. No more! haha I'm going to make some of these beauties. Thanks Ceri! Inspiring as always! :)
Have fun with them
Loved hearing about your process for crafting on the go & it was also so helpful seeing how you organize & store things! Love the clusters too! 💕 You said you weren’t in a butterfly mood but by the end of the video… boom! 🦋😅 The tag is awesome! Thanks again for sharing your talents & process with us! 💜
Yeah I know….it always seems to end with something with wings.
I like to keep my hands busy as well. I very rarely just sit and watch TV. We, family, go upnorth all year long on weekends as much as we can. I am always taking projects with. I put kits together so my projects are ready for traveling. No wifi up there either.
Being away from technology is so productive to me.
@@CeriGriffiths I have books through library app (overdrive) or Amazon that I also listen to. Audibles are great while doing chores, gardening, crafting, getting ready in morning for work.
The tag is beautiful! I've just watched and am inspired to start this right now!
Wondeful news, thank you
Very cute! I am going to try the snippets! BTW, I love Tracie Fox!
Fabulous.
Hi Ceri! No you're not the first, but I think you're the first I've seen that took them on the go! Anyway it's a always a pleasure to see your take on things. I love this tag... yes I was saying ok, stop, just say no.... but you kept going and it works! I think there was that point where, as you said it looked unbalanced. I'm glad I saw you push it. I think I would quit and add it it the Meh box. Things I don't quite love.
Laura, if I don’t finish something it usually never gets finished so I do try to push though.
Fall is my time of year. I love the colours. Thank you for the inspiration. I am glad you have friends to unwind with!
Thank you
Was fun to watch and catch up.
Thank you
I have a box full of these clusters and usually just use them as page or pocket decorations. I love your idea of putting them on tags. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
Lucy they are great focal points, you just have to be aware of where they will be used/placed etc in a journal because they will be slightly bulkier and possible not fit into a tight fitting pocket or tuck spot.
Very nice tag! I do make button clusters and it was fun to see how you use yours! TFS. 😃
You’re welcome
I also must keep my hands busy…. Why is that? Loved this tag and thanks for your wonderful videos
Thank you
I don't sew, but I do have lots of dog neck scarves that can be cut up. I like your small boxes for storage of supplies and finished button clusters. I have tissue, printed and plain. If I get busy, I can probably make at least a few Christmas tags for a collab. Thanks for this fresh idea!
You’re welcome.
Hello, how are you doing today???
I am currently packing my craft bag for taking on holiday, like you I cannot sit and do nothing, only time I do that is in the cinema. I make master boards and clusters generally as they require little thought and not much supplies. I always have a selection of Tracie labels as well! Love your tag 💜
Thank you and yes I’ve always got something on the go wherever I am.
Ceri, TYFS the button clusters and the collaged tag. I hadn’t thought of making a bunch in advance, so I will do that in order to have some ready to go. Glad you got away for a bit. 🌻🌻🌻
Thank you Gladys.
I make it a point to look for doll clothes sewing patterns, or newborn or premie patterns, because there are more markings in smaller spaces. Of course, sometimes just the blank tissue is desirable. Here in Oregón sometimes patterns go in sale for $1.00 USD. The envelope and the instructions inside are quite usable as well for junk journals.
I never thought of using doll our baby patterns, thank you for that idea.
Simple but lovely
Thank you
Stunning! Thank you!
You’re welcome
Love this idea ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
I like the way you roll
Thank you
I meant to indicate that I use them in my journal making. The fabric compnies have begun to design selvages much more intentionally since so many artist are using them in such diverse manners. Just a thought to share.
Oh I agree there are some nice pieces of selvage nowadays.
These little clusters look like the perfect project for a cold winter night. I'm going to save all of my scraps from now on. Thank you for sharing this idea with us.
I’ve even had them in the car with me if I’m waiting to pick someone up from an appointment or something, it’s amazing how many you can do in a short period of time.
Gorgeous! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Loved your tag and found this fun!
Yay! Thank you!
Hi Ceri
Maybe not your favourite, but i loved them. I pove butterflies 🦋
Thank you
So adorable Keri, what a lovely way to spend some quiet time, great idea with the travel crafting kit. Thanks for showing how to use these pretty little snippet clusters, made some a while back and haven't found the perfect use for them.
Have fun with them Leigh
Gorgeous autumn tag! TYFS Cindy
Thank you
Very nice! Love it.
Thank you! 😊
Love this idea of button clusters, so easy to make! And your storage is awesome. I have tons of Tracie Fox small items but they are in a long tin all together. After watching this video I am going to separate the items and make poster board dividers. Just found your channel and love it!
Thank you and dividers does make it easier but make sure you can still get your fingers into the smaller devisions….I speak from experience.
Hello Ceri, love the tag and especially the button clusters (great idea).
It’s not a news idea but its a good idea, thank you.
This is the first video of yours that I discovered. I love this idea! Thanks.. new subscriber here!
Thank you Patti and welcome to my channel.
I loved watching this! Thanks, Ceri!
Thank you
Lovely Ceri. It’s a wonderful way to use up scraps of pieces that otherwise would go in the waste bin. You are truly an inspiration.
Not an original idea of mine but an idea I love.
Lovely!
Thank you
a while ago i accidentally fell into slow stitching. my fingers became addicted after only 2 afternoons doing it, and now i am crazy about stitching, fabric collage and such. so here i am, wishing for a new Ceri video, and one pops up! with stitching no less!! jar of buttons, embroidery scissors, and even your own needle book!!! Dude! loved your tag! 😊😊😊
Thank you Judith
Oh my goodness I’m so glad I stumbled across this , it’s perfect I’ve been wanting to take something that would be kinda small on my 2 week vacation …..I’m a knitter but I need something additional that’s smack and it’s perfect for my junk journaling…….very clever thank you …….I’m a new subscriber for sure 😎🌻🧚♀️🎃
Thank you Kimberlee and welcome to my channel.

Great way to use up little bits and add another point of interest. Little stitching projects are wonderful…thank you!
You’re welcome
I’ve got buttons from my mom, grandmother and great grandmother. I adore my button jars, and button tins. Your button snippets are darling. That tag is perfect. Loved your base of pattern and book pages. I can never be idle. I cannot “just” watch tv. I never have been able to do that. And I always have a project bag with me in the car. You’d think I’d get more done, lol. Thx for sharing this, we’re all glad you got away over the weekend.
Thank you Sandi
Really nice video , thanks so much …I have tons of buttons …
I think its funny how everyone alway collects buttons
That's a great idea. Love that Cari. I use those things too, I just never thought of sewing them together. Thank you for sharing this. I learn a lot from watching you. I hope you never stop doing these things.☕🙂
Thank you Deb I will continue to create and film as loving as I’m able.
The essence of fall - lovely tag! I can't simply sit and watch TV with idle hands. You would be a wonderful house guest. :)
Lol….I always have to be doing something.
