Avedis Zildjian Company for years now I've been playing the Dennis Chambers model (wood tip), please don't ever stop making this! otherwise you may have to make them for me :) David Curtis Drumming
Hey will Zildjian ever make the Metal style drumstick? I know you produce jazz and rock models, but a bunch of other companies also make Metal style sticks which are usually 17" long and .635" in diameter.
Bill Day - Good question Bill! Not sure if Zildjian will or not, I heard if you crack a cymbal with the ahead (graphite) sticks then the cymbal is not covered by insurance, don't know if that's true or not but I can see why. Love Zildjian sticks, DC
I saw and met this guy at a place called Electrik Jinja and he was incredible. He basically jammed with some local musicians and stuck to one groove. The feel, pocket and groove was amazing! However, afterwards when I met this guy I unfortunately found him to be a little bit strange and stuck up. He talked about how many grammies he’d won and then when I was just trying to shake his hand normally like what I thought “normal” people would do he got a little pissed at me for not knowing some “secret” hand shake and shook his head at me saying “you’re not in the hood”. I was just like “whaaaat....??”. I just walked away a little miffed. I didn’t really give too much of a shit but I’m glad he wasn’t exactly one of my great heroes or anything then I probably would have taken it to heart so I guess some of our heroes we really shouldn’t meet. Apart from that I will say he is a flippen great player though!
Whether he comes off as arrogant , cocky, egotistical, etc. is not the issue here. However, he is young, and it's understandable that with his talent, comes some type of distorted "pride". He seems like a good person and is great at his craft, however, he needs to ease up on that type of "too cool for school" attitude as he gets older, because in this business, that gets you ZERO work, no matter how great you are.. Gregg Bissonette, and Kenny Aronoff, 2 of the busiest session guys, have both stated in interviews that you have to be easy to work with , and that means checking your ego at the door of any gigging situation. This guy will learn that soon enough.
Him and his brother are the two best things that are happening in music right now
He seems like a great guy and he is nuts on the drums
