Thank you soooo much! I am new to carpentry and I’ve been wanting to use this router but I didn’t know how because the instructions it came with aren’t very straightforward I felt like …..especially for me being a beginner….. I really really appreciate you putting this how to content up on TH-cam! Amazing! You really cleared so many things up for me and you answered so many of the questions I had.

Just picked one of these up yesterday. Very helpful tutorial on setting the depth with both bases. Thanks for taking the time.

Excellent review! Clear audio, camera up close showing details, minimum speech, slow and thorough, good lighting, each function explained, quality of build noted, demo of bit change and use on wood. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth a thousand pics. I needed this info urgently and did not know how to use a router, so your review was a DIY demo as well for me. Many thanks!!!

Very nice review. Well done. One suggestion would be to mention the circular sections of both the fixed base and the plunge base. Lots of compact routers only have square bases, and they can wobble against a fence, causing your cuts to go off line. That will never happen using the curved edge of the base as it will always keep the bit in exactly the same spot in reference to your fence or jig. That is actually the primary reason I'm considering adding the Dewalt as my 3rd router.

After you put the bit in, the instructions say you're supposed to back it out 1/16".

Nice I bought a craftsman plunge router 2 years ago and I've only used it once and it was for a friend of mine project LOL I really need to find time to work with it because they really do help dress the finishing touches up!!

Excellent review! Very well done: straightforward explanation, shot at a great angle to capture details. I really liked that you started with unboxing. Just wish this router came with more accessories and wasn't limited to 1/4 in bits. Looks very simple to operate. Thanks.

+Marianne Myers Hey Marianne, Nuthin better, (well maybe a few things, LOL) than a Lady that likes "Power Tools", UNNGGHHH! Check out the "Think and Tinker", (Funny name, great product) Precision Collet System, (It's pricey, but GOOD), also MLCS has many "split sleeve" adapter bushings. Happy Router Dust!! Gb bg

Thank you for your review. I have been seriously considering buying one of these units, and your review has really helped.. At 10:45 when the LED lights come on, I was sold... Great feature.. In Australia they are offering a kit that comes with both the compact and plunge base. - I am currently using a Makita unit with the compact base. Very happy with it, but sometimes you just want more to hold onto it with. The plunge base is exactly what my current unit is lacking. thanks.

This is really a f_kn AWESOME user review video!!!!
Very comprehensive and informative! I wished you would've shown how to work the router on an edge, but still, the use of your table lends volumes to what can be done with a router!! I'm just stuck in choosing between this router or the Bosch Colt.

It is a tad more powerful than a Laminate trimmer but not as powerful as a full size router. It depends on your job. For small jobs the DWP611pk is a no brainer. For big jobs where you need to rout a lot of material I would go full size.

Yes it has dust collection adapters which are 7 bucks and clear plastic. For both plunge and fixed. The plunge dust collection is great and offers a little better visibility than the fixed collector.

I have this, and I've found that the small locking button to enable bit changes is extremely awkward. Bits are tough to change, and tough to get the collet safely tight enough. I'd rather have the opportunity to use a two wrench setup, which this design does not allow.

You write this because you did NOT use the MLT 100 of Makita. In my country, this saw is the last option of buyers... And in Brazil the MAKITA technical assistance isn't good like DeWalt or Bosch. But Makita is a good brand that dispute the Japan maket with Ryobi and Hitachi.

This was one of the most detailed videos I’ve seen about this router! Can you do one on how to make keyholes with it? I mean, I know how to make keyholes but can I make a jig for cutting keyholes being that it’s ’D’ shaped? All the videos I’m finding are with a square base. Does that even make a difference? 🤔

Nice review. I love this router, but I used an amana straight bit and a porter cable guide bushing and the bit was noticeable closer to one side than the other. Any fixing. May that be a problem for acurate template cuts? I forgot to mention I did not completely tighten the bit, but I think that was not the problem.

My understanding is that the plunge base will accept PC styled bushings and a PC styled edge guard. You can get a Dewalt edge guard for the fixed base as well. The fixed base will NOT accept PC styled bushings.

Hi this was excellent. I have a question for you. I have a Dewalt 611 PK router ( a palm router with a plunger ) I can not use rabbet bit because the bit is a little bit wider than the opening of the base plate. I have been looking for a after market base plate that comes with a base plate opening wider than what I have and I have not been able to find one. Do you know of any ? I appreciate your input. Thanks

25 year contractor here . myself and my other lead carpenter have both found this router to be very poor. it seems that even in locked position while your in routing process the depth will move. we both have same router so it not just one its both we have had issues with. compact routers are awesome but this one hasn't performed well for us. frankly we are afraid to use them anymore on fine carpentry we do.

Thanks for the video review! What limitations might a compact miter have verus non-compact? And what are limitations of .25 collet vs .5 collet? My hobby is making furniture. I'd like a router for edging, rounded edges, and joinery. I'd like to choose a router with less limitations, but also lighter weight. One of the Bosches weighs 21lbs, this one weighs 10. Thank you! :)

His guide is a rough 2x2 and he is not holding to it. On a cut like that one it doesn't make any difference which direction. Only on edge cuts does the direction count.

+Goy Toy On THIS router it ain't shaft wobble! Looks like too high a feed rate, plus, (as he said himself) a DULL bit, and he pulled the router toward the straight edge, instead of pushing into it. This was probably so we could see the "Wacked-Out" cut, LOL. Cut him some slack guys, I'm sure, (as mentioned above) that several people were helped, and encouraged by the Vid! Gb bg

My thing is to offer them 70% of the asking price . it has never failed on any purchase and doesn't insult you or the seller . So offer them 42$ it's within target of your price and still in their profit margin.
