I love mine... The only big complaint I have is that you need a wrench to change the bit. I would prefer a wrenchless solution but not a dealbreaker. Also I agree on the edge guide

In 2022: in UK I just bought from Amazon the near identical 604 model for £309 or approx $330 USD. No batt or charger, but it came with the plunge base accessory, edge guide, dust extraction adapter and big TStak hard case with moulded insert. Prices do fluctuate and some sellers charge upto 30% more for the same kit. The whole machine oozes Dewalt’s usual solid build quality, not cheap, but good value for that coin. Being new to Router use, I need to research some good bits. So far, the quality brands are far too expensive for a whole set, being typically around 30 to 40 bucks per bit; a few bits would soon out price the tool itself.

Man I was really on the fence between this router and the Milwaukee. I ended up going with the Milwaukee for two reasons
    1. I am already invested in that platform.
    2. The micro adjustment was light years better in my opinion.
I've used the DeWalt and it is really nice , I think it has more power than the Milwaukee but the micro adjustment was a little cattiewampus at least in my opinion.
    Good video brother.

For the $220 price, they definitely should've added the accessories. Happy to hear it can be used in a plunge base. Lady at Lowes charged me for one when I was asking where the routers were in the store. Lmao. I got it for half off. It's been a year, can't wait to grab this and start using them.

I just purchased this router, but have yet to use it. It is my first cordless router.
I would like to add some input on the depth adjustment: I own several routers from top brands. The router I use the most is my father's Craftsman router that is over 40-years old. It has the same depth adjustment system as this DeWalt, and I love it for that. I can very quickly set the bit height and make a sample cut on a scrap piece, Then micro adjust to what depth I want. So, I am not afraid of this type of adjustment at all. And, in fact I think it is a practical and efficient means of setting the depth.
    Great review!

I also believe you can fit all of DeWalt corded router accessories on this cordless model (plunger, guide and dust collection) if anyone uses the corded version.

I would suggest you ask ACME for the version with side guides and the plunge base in the kit next time as I have, also how can you have a Micro adjustment with a Fractional scale, that said I have one of these routers and thought initially might be top heavy with a 5Amh battery but its spot on making my corded Makita redundant, also decal metric scale at .5mm or 0.020" rather than imperial scale 1/32 or 0.031" .

Love the video bro! Still debating on this one or the fuel. I do wish dewalt would throw in what I consider Necessary items to use the tools properly. My cordless planers for instance. No dust collection. That was an extra 40 bucks per connector/elbow and collapsing bag. Good thing I got them cheap or I would have went elsewhere. Despite that...... I love it. It did come with the guide as "bare tool."..... But nothing else. Irks me a bit.

I hated the Makita corded router because the base was to small to allow for round over and chamfer bits to be fully used unless you wanted to plunge the bit through the bottom. I also like the see through base plates. For my money this Dewalt cordless along with the 1.25 hp Bosch colt I think are much better options than the Makita.

I purchased a Honda gas mower last year 2022. I’ve mowed with it maybe a dozen times. It started surging last week so I tried to take the carburetor out ended up striping the fuel jet screw. Let’s just say parts are impossible to come by. My local Home Depot has already sold back all of their Hondas. I sold mine online when there was only one shop in my whole county that will work and order parts for my Honda (and that was an hour drive and charges $100 just for a carburetor cleaning). I took the sale of my Honda and bought a ryobi! Parts and people willing to work on gas mowers are hard to come by already.

I have this router and it's amazing. I use the small battery on it just to keep the weight down. Build quality is excellent as is the speed control and tool change capability. Just buy it!

The included clear base ( shoe ) is NOT able to accomodate router guide bushings. They sell THAT separately PN DNP613. Dust collector PNDNP615. For 199.99 when not on sale, for a bare tool only, it is not a great VALUE. For 199.00, include NEEDED items... Still a BARE TOOL... or offer as a KIT with plunge base, 5AH battery, charger and a carry bag ( plastic cases waste space ) for 299.00

Is this possible to modify it for a cut out tool for drywall? My dad has spent about 600 dollars in dewalt rotary cut tools and they seem to not last over 4 or 5 months. He decided to look into something different and maybe stronger.

  • @kennedymcgovern5413

Upsells: I am about to piss you off worse, about his router.
As you stated, they hold back the edge guide as an upsell. The plunge base is also an upsell. Now check this out: the plunge base, and the regular base...each requite a DIFFERENT edge guide. So, if you just like the feel of the original base and want to hold onto it, you have to buy TWO edge guides.
Oh, I am not through pissing you off just yet. The edge guide that you can buy for the plunge base is adjustable. There are alternate mounts for the poles, it gives you a couple of different size poles also. In other words, the edge guide for the plunge router can be adjusted to work on several different models...just NOT for the original base that comes with the routers.
They put al of the adjustability on the edge guide so that they can save money by only having to make one accessory for multiple bases. But they DIDN'T make it adjustable to the bases that come with the routers...so that the money saved by the adjustability is for them...and never for you.
I told you I was about to piss you off.

Make sure when you do the compact router face off you get to use the ridgid octane as opposed to the gen 5. The octane is way more powerful than the gen 5. It's 25000 rpm for the gen 5 and 30000 rpm for the octane which is only 1000 rpm less than the new Milwaukee router
