Correction - The 3.5 input in the front WILL pass through to your computer for audio. I am not sure why I was not able to get mine too.
Heads-up, many of your affiliate links (mostly from Top 3 Open Back & below) aren't working. Amazon links to the homepage, Fulla 4 redirects to invalid product screen, Drop says the link is malformed, Fir Audio throws some crazy characters in the URL, etc.
Sadly, a lot of them are having QC issues... Same with Hel 2.

I wouldn't exactly consider the iPhone USB-C a drop-in replacement for the Fulla, for the target "gamer" audience, or at least people who have a power hungry/noisy GPU.
I tried it as a cheap experiment to fix the noise coming from both my audio and USB ports (into my discrete amp) and, while it was a massive improvement, the noise was still very audible at normal listening levels. The optional galvanic isolation that the Fulla has seems to be really important for the problem that Schiit are trying to solve here.
The Fiio D3 is a good alternative here, because most gamer systems have TOS (and therefore galvanic isolation).
The video didn't cover this to my recollection, but I think it is important to mention that Schiit Audi designed that left 3.5mm jack as a microphone input and that this product is targeted at gamers. Not that music enthusiasts & audiophiles shouldn't consider it, but gamers accustomed to fast pace game action and sound is the target audience.

Good video, but you missed the entire point of the Fulla: it's a gaming amp and DAC. So how does the mic fare? (I actually bought one and I'll answer: it's a huge upgrade. It makes your mic sound like radio quality.)
And how well does it work in a game, like an FPS? Because the entire point of getting the Fulla 4 is to game with it. If you only want a headphone amp and DAC for music, you can get the Hel or any other Schiit device. The Fulla is for gaming, so I need a review on the gaming aspect.
Now, I agree with Josh that the sound is amazing, both input and output, BUT I am currently trying to figure out a problem with it concerning the soundstage, i.e. the three-dimensionality of the sound, in-game. I don't know if mine is defective or if there's an option to change my computer's sound without me knowing it (I'm still trying to find the problem), but the Fulla 4 sounds to me like my head is under water, in an FPS. I can't really make out where the noises are coming from. I hear the VERY well, BUT I honeslty can barely tell if I'm hearing an enemy in front of me or to my right or my left, etc. It's all mushed together, yet very clean. If I were to only listen to youtube videos and music, for example, the Fulla 4 is fantastic. But, if what I'm hearing right now is what it's supposed to sound like (the absence of directionality, let's call it that), then I have a hard time recommending it, sadly. Let's hope I find a solution to my problem.
Ok, wait. This is so weird.
After numerous tests, I finally solved it. I just went to the corner dollar store and bought this cheapo USB to USB-C cable and now the sound in-game HAS the tridimensionality that I was looking for! I mean... wtf? And people say that cables don't matter... psh... This is the third or fourth cable I've tried and this one finally does the job properly and it was all just a matter of finding a fitting cable. Not even a special one. Just one "graded" for 2 amps at 5V. Huh!
In that case... buy the Fulla 4!!! :D

josh i’m no expert (though i did work in a high end road bike shop for 5 or 6 years) but you should really adjust your saddle angle, that looks painful!!
hey josh, have you ever used/heard about the ifi zen dac (dac/amp unit) or the ifi zen can (amp)?
I am not Josh but I have, and have owned both. The Zen Dac is as you stated an amp/dac... it is not the most powerful amp however. It has a 4.4mm balanced output that will output more power and there is a low/high gain (they call it "power match") but the range is limited especially for quite a few of the hifiman headphones. It can also be noticeably "noisy" depending on the particular headphone/volume level etc. The Zen Can is a stackable match that will make your experience better, it has a lot of power and allows the Zen Dac to operate in "fixed" mode which seems to help with some of the noticeable distortion.
Get the Zen Dac V2 if you go that route. Or better yet, just get the DX7 Pro, its an all in 1 unit that has almost no faults.
The front input connection is for a mic, not a phone/powered device. Supposedly it is a dynamic gain, 24-bit microphone input with AKM analog-to-digital converter. Maybe the mic you tested required a bit more power than it could handle?

Congratulations on being the first one to put a video out reviewing this unit. I picked one up myself and have been very pleased with it so far. I actually purchased a sound blaster X6, returned it, and then bought this and was much happier with the sound quality.

I have this, and it's bad. audio delay, audio cracking. schiit really dropped the ball on this one.
I've heard that crackling noise while turning the dial is very common with shiit devices. Its what prevented me from buying one and going for a sound blaster x g6 instead
People are reporting that running an overclock on your PC introduces cracking with the Fulla, don't know if this applies to your situation.

I feel like you missed an opportunity to state that this is one of the best budget solutions to the PS5 UAC1 issue.
Basically so many of us with headphones like Beyers Tygr 300r or whatever, with magni 3/Modi 3 stacks can't use our dacs with PS5 because PS5 doesn't support UAC2.
Fulla 4 (now called Fulla E) supports UAC1&2
did it raise the volume on ur tygrs, thats my biggest my $180 tygrs are much quieter then my $50 steelseries headset

It's damn near impossible to get a Fulla 3 now. I tried to get a Fulla 3 recently to save some money but it's unavailable just about everywhere. Guess I'm gonna bite the bullet on 4 then.
It was always impossible and now that the chip supplier has burned down they might disappear entirely.

Not just volume. Probably if it doesn't sound as described, but it's hard to tell at times

I have had mixed experiences with my Fulla 4. The headphone out is working great to power my Drop PC38x's considering they are low resistance. I want to note though that the input on the Fulla 4 uses a TON of compression and makes the microphone sound like absolute garbage. I've had to bypass the mic input and go directly to the motherboard where those issues are not present. It may improve the sound of some headsets that have a lower quality mic input but in my case it was a deal breaker.
Was considering this exact setup. Have no intention of using the mic port. Hows the audio when it comes to quality positioning etc. Sorry I klnow this is 6 months later but you have the exact setup im considering.
That’s really interesting, other reviews didn’t have compression issues with things like the ModMic. In fact, it actually made them too sensitive at times and plosives were even more noticeable.

Can you plug in usb to PC and Plug in an optical and hear sound from both combined? Or is there a switch for which input to listen to?

oh man, i was waiting for your review. sucks i won't be getting one though. after my order was on "awaiting item" for over a week, Schiit messaged me saying it was lost and refunded me. oh well. dodged a bullet, i guess, from all the complaints about numerous issues people are having with it.

Isn't the second input on the front for microphone use? That's a very rare feature afaik. Schiit is also referring to it as "DAC/AMP FOR GAMING (AND COMMUNICATIONS!)" 1:35

You should really look into iFi Zen Dac. It costs (v1) USD 130 on Amazon with free shipping. Depending on the shipping, this (Fulla) will cost almost 120. So they are comparable in price, but iFi has more (different) features.
Well, they are a bit different in use, as Fulla is a dac/amp aiming for gaming, hence mic input that Zen Dac lacks. But if someone does not care about mic input and is good for USB only then Zen Dac is a great value for sure

Excellent intro! I have the Fulla 3 and use it with a pair of iLoud Micro Monitors for my iPad Pro's audio. Perfect little device for mobile audio.
Wish Schiit actually made things anymore. Been waiting 10 weeks for my Jotenheim 2 to be built and they estimated 4-6 weeks. Still no updated estimate.
Comparing sound of 10$ dongle dac with chip integrated in the conector with a device that has dac technology designed by digital guru Mike Moffatt from Theta tells every audiophile watching this video that your knowledge about audio is very limited

The front 3.5mm input is a Mic input. If you can please test the Fulla 4 with one of the Sennheiser headsets, the PC 37x or the PC 38x and a ModMic. The Fulla is meant to be a gaming dac/amp with mic input. I have the Fulla 3 and its amazing for that purpose.
My fulla 4 constantly disconnects. The USB-C they use on these are totally broken. I am not the only one, they have several complaints on their subreddits and other forums. I returned mine after having 2 replacements by schiit, and never looked back.
My first Hel 2 was broken and clearly wasn't tested. I told them that I preferred waiting another month with enough time for quality control instead of getting a broken replacement. They instantly sent me the replacement and... well.. It was broken. I'm still pissed.

The various IFi zen dacs are a great alternative if you live in Europe. You won't get anything from Schitt.
I wish there was a balanced dongle dac that sounds as good as the Fulla E. I've yet to find one that matches the warmth and fun of the Fulla. Closest I've found would be the Qudelix5K or maybe the Cayin RU-6.
This thing is literally 9(10% increase) dollars more expensive and this video just released today. The price increases this last year are just unreal.
$110, only 200mW @ 32ohms and ships in 12-16 weeks atm. Guess I will keep moving...
Schiit got a new facility in corpus Christi TX. They're probably not up to full capacity and efficiency yet. It was on their TH-cam channel.
The shipping time was always horrendous and when I asked about that during one of the livestreams they basically told me I should look somewhere lese and that they don't care.

I looked at the Topping A30 Pro for home use, but don't want leave it in the Office or lug it around with me for mobile use. I feel like the Fulla 4 maybe a really good Laptop EDC for the HD6xx's?

I bought the Fulla E ... 2 weeks later the mic input broke, 3 weeks later its completely dead... threw it in the bin and bought a SoundBlasterX G6... much better.... I bought it based on these reviews and was so disappointed.

Hi Joshua, love your videos! I have a question: do you think the Fiio BTR5 is good enough for the HD 650? What other "cheap" dac+amp that I can use on the go with my phone can I get?
Yeah, I run my HD600's off of my btr5, which have a lower SPL than the HD650's and it gets plenty loud, even off of the single ended output. On the balanced output I run it at like 60% volume. If you don't mind the usb tether and the extra size, the IFI Hip-dac is even better, but you can't beat the convenience and portability of the btr5.
